PHYSICS ASAP!? (25/26/27)?

A cylindrical fishing reel has a mass of 1.2 kg

and a radius of 3.57 cm. A friction clutch

in the reel exerts a restraining torque of

1.84 N · m if a fish pulls on the line. The fisherman gets a bite, and the reel begins to spin

with an angular acceleration of 31.4 rad/s2

What force does the fish exert on the line?

Answer in units of N.

How much line unwinds in 0.978 s?

Answer in units of cm.

Bonus: A horizontal 826 N merry-go-round of radius

1.3 m is started from rest by a constant horizontal force of 66.6 N applied tangentially to

the merry-go-round.

Find the kinetic energy of the merry-goround after 2.93 s. The acceleration of gravity

is 9.8 m/s2

.Assume the merry-go-round is a

solid cylinder.

Answer in units of J.

    A cylindrical fishing reel has a mass of 1.2 kg and a radius of 3.57 cm. A friction clutch

    in the reel exerts a restraining torque of1.84 N · m if a fish pulls on the line.

    The fisherman gets a bite, and the reel begins to spin with an angular acceleration of 31.4 rad/s2

    What force F does the fish exert on the line?Answer in units of N.

    J = m/2*r^2 = 0.6*3.57^2*10^-4 kg*m^2

    F*r-1.84 = J*α

    F = (18.4 +J*α)/r = (1.84+0.6*3.57^2*10^-4*31.4)*100/3.57 =  52.2 N

    How much line L unwinds in 0.978 s? Answer in units of cm.

    n = (α/2*t^2)/2PI = 15.7/2PI*0.978^2  revs

    L = n*2PI*r = 15.7*0.978^2*3.57 = 53.6 cm

    mass of mgr = 826/9.8 kg

    MoI J = m/2*r^2 = 826/19.6*1.3^2 = 71.2 kg*m^2

    angular acceleration α = F*r/J = 66.6*1.3/71.2 = 1.216 rad/sec^2

    angular velocity ω = α*t = 1.216*2.93 sec = 3.563 rad/sec

    KE = J/2*ω^2 = 35.6*3.563^2 = 452 joule
