It's a very old and aristocratic name (centuries old), that only sounds dignified if pronounced correctly. Unfortunately most English speakers will butcher and ruin it by pronouncing it Lud-wick-ah, instead of the correct Lood-veek-ah. But there are many people nowadays with unpronouncable cultural names. The old way of assimilation into American society by anglicizing foreign names is out, embracing your culture and passing on your heritage is in. Renee Zellweger refused to get her name changed to something more English by Hollywood execs and she still ended up becoming a huge star. Stay true to yourself, a name is unique and precious, a gift from your parents that holds meaning and family history.

It's not pretty to look at to the English eye that doesn't like u on its own and w in the middle of words unless chaperoned by an s, but it does sound very pretty when pronounced correctly. You do know that English speakers will put the emphasis on the wrong part of the word, don't you? My sister has struggled with a name that sounds terrible in English her whole life, much worse than "wrong" Ludwika, and it's such a shame because it's a lovely name when pronounced as intended.
