Yup.  If he took a minor across state lines without parental consent it counts as statutory rape.  Depending on which state he is charged in he could be facing one year to life in prison.  Florida law states it is "Unlawful sexual activity with certain minors if someone age 24 or older engages in sexual activity with someone age 16 or 17" which carries a 15 year sentence.

Edit: Age of consent varies between states. 

@Anonymous: No dear, the age of consent is seventeen or sixteen in every state except eleven. For that matter, a seventeen year old is well over the age of twelve, which is the cut off for pedophilia. lol
