Need period advice please ?

So, I’m having the worst cramps right now, I can’t even fell asleep. When I’m on my period I get cramps pretty bad. Is there anything I could do to get these to stop? Also, do you think it’s a good enough reason to stay home from school? I know that if I tell my nurse, she’ll send me home but how should I tell my dad about it in the morning to see if he’ll let me skip?
