this is a dumb question to ask, but why do they say the devil is evil?
it's not so much: the devil is evil
it's more: why do they say the devil is evil
basically in genetics, we're wired physically and mentally. some of us have parents with certain characteristics, and so we the children of these parents have similar characteristics.
secondly, if our parents are happy and jovial, we're more likely to be happy or jovial.
so my point is asking why do they say the devil is evil when the evil just happened to be wired a certain way. maybe not wired genetically but - situationally.
and couldn't any one of us be born the devil. i am born as john doe, you are born as john smith. somebody's got to be born satan. satan didn't choose to be satan. so how can you blame him? if he's the way he is, he's the way that he is, then where does the onus lie?

Satan is EVIL - make no mistake about that. Jesus said so.
Jesus came to bring LIFE - but Satan? He only comes to STEAL, KILL and DESTROY (John 10:10). Now wouldn't you say that was evil?
If not, then remember what Jesus told us - That Satan was a MURDERER from the beginning and the father of LIES. (John 8:44).
If you don't think that's an evil person you have something wrong with you.
Satan may not have chosen to be Satan but he can choose his behaviour and he has chosen to kill us, murder us, steal from us, destroy us. His Name is DESTROYER (1 Corinthians 10:10) because he has earned that reputation by his evil ways.
You need to wake up - and quickly before Satan deceives you because he is also an angel of light who pretends to preach the gospel of Christ. (2 Corinthians 11: 13 - 15) I can tell you definitely don't read the Bible, do you?

Every story needs a source of conflict, so Satan was invented to fill that requirement.

Satan did choose to be Satan. Angels have free will like humans (Satan is an angel). God created angels and some of them decided they didn’t want to serve God.

God doesn't believe in genetics. He plopped all the kinds onto Earth as they currently are.
