Whenever i run the water in my tub it stops up from the plug area.

It is probably hair that is plugging it up...
They make a thing called "Zip-it drain cleaning"
Do a search on that ... It is a long piece of plastic with barbs on it for around 5.00, available at almost any hardware store.
