Why are LGBT forced to accept homophobia and transphobia under the guise of religious beliefs?

It's not fair that people can choose to hate us and we're not even allowed to hate them back. Why can they have bad opinions of us, but we can't have bad opinions of them?

Update:

I'm not against Islam, or any other homophobic religions. I am just saying that if hating gays can be a protected religious belief, why can't hating homophobes be a protected religious belief?

Update 2:

Did you just compare being gay to murder? What the **** is wrong with you?

Many Christians would claim NOT to hate gays. They would say they just disapprove of men having sex with other men. There are generally four types of positions taken by Christian churches:

    1) Anti-gay: these would say that all gays are going to Hell and cannot be saved.

    2) "Welcoming": these would say that gays may come to their church, but need to change their orientation in order to be saved.

    3) "Accepting": gays and lesbians may join their church, and they don't need to change their orientation but must be celibate and single for life.

    4) Affirming: these are the churches which say that homosexual sex is not a sin, and that they would marry any two consenting adults regardless of their gender.

Only those who take the anti-gay position would say that they hate gays, but these are a minority. Many pentecostal churches take the "welcoming" position and are most likely to want gays to change their orientation. The larger denominational churches generally take the "accepting" position because they recognise the science that orientation cannot change.

But many gay groups say that positions 1), 2)  and 3) are all "hate". They would tell Christians "You hate me unless you are affirming and you approve of me having sex with my own gender."

You are not forbidden from having bad opinions of Christians. Many in our society not only have bad opinions of Christians but are vocal about their bad opinions also. Just look in the "Religion & Spirituality" section of Yahoo Answers (while you still can). Having bad opinions of Muslims may lead to some people calling you Islamophobic because they are still a minority.

Christians' right to express their opinions is limited. If two men walked into church lovingly holding hands then the minister is in his right to tell them to leave. But if they walk into a supermarket and a Christian cashier tells them to leave she will be fired.

You don't have to accept it. But, just as society does not condone murder it also doesn't condone sodomites. Or do you want murder to be legal like sodomy is now.

    Things are getting better.

Thanks to the overreach of evangelicals religion is losing it's grip on America.

For the first time ever less than half the people are associated with a church.
