Just for grins, The nearest star ETA etc?
I was kicking around the idea of heading to the nearest solar system and figured it would take a very long time unless I set the cruise control at 100 C or so.
My question is, at a G force I am likely to survive, assuming I am a Navy combat pilot, like 9 G's, how long would it take to accelerate to 100 times the speed of light? Or any other speed benchmark in that neighborhood?
4 AnswersAstronomy & Space10 years agoIs religion the bane of the society?
Seriously, screw it. Make it illegal. Far to many idiots do ridiculous stuff (killing many people) because they believe a fairy in their freakin mind wills them to? What in the hell is wrong with you people? Maybe there is a God but perhaps we should practice our religions in our homes.. hidden from the public. That way when a religious nut appears in public we can just put one between his / her eyes and call it a day. ..pfft, idiots.

5 AnswersHunting10 years agoRe: recent Texas mass grave story and international relations?
Is it an act of war or at least an international incident when a country's constituency can continuously cross a border illegally and commit crimes and the nation in question either does little or can do little? If this were in the middle east, we'd be on it like white on rice right? In the southwest US, meh who cares right? Regardless of immigration opinions, regardless of recent news (fact / or not, we'll see). When does this become a government that obviously can not contribute to a solution?
I have my own opinions on immigration as I'm sure we all do and I think you'd be surprised to hear mine, but that's neither here nor there. There is a law, no one follows it. When do the neighboring countries (ours as well) get taken to task for it?
Also, yes I understand the Texas story is breaking and there is little fact to reply to however, people cross the southern border illegally. Some of those people commit crimes. This is the crux of the issue.
And if I may throw this in here as well, how is it possible a story can break nationally with so few facts? The standards in journalism have fallen off a cliff.
Thanks.

5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoCould music be the key?
I read more and more comments here and elsewhere and it would seem apathy has become an epidemic. I have had it since I can recall. I care little for everything. There is no passion in my life. I can experience so many things with disdain, but then... ah... then there is music. Songs by people about people I know nothing about move me to tears. Do I spend this emotional allowance all there leaving me empty in real life or is it the other way around and that music is the only place I live?

Do you think a union has any power?
Do you think our government has gone too far "leveling the playing field"? (Free trade agreements, no tariffs, tax breaks etc..)
What is a sense of national pride worth? (in dollars, 5 dollars 10 dollars etc)
My oppinion, I think there is a legitimate need for unions. I also think in todays world they are nearly impotant. The biggest factor in keeping jobs in the US is a weakening US dollar. Also, the "crappy" US cars built in the US by union labor aren't all crap nor are they all 'designed' by US automakers.
How is it right that a person could work somewhere all their life and after they retire the contract vote away their health care or pension. What are they to do? Go back to work? Die quietly and leave capitolism alone?
