overheating.it has a new thermostat,radiator is clean.temp stays normal during idle,rises when i start to drive.ac is off when this happens.its a 4.7 dodge durango.can water pump simply"go bad"without ever leaking?

i push the valve stem on the high port side and get no cold air.my high port side copper lines are not cold.the low is hot.the a/c freezes up on hot days when it runs too hard.i had two pounds of freon added last summer,im guessing i have a leak somewhere,if so how do i find it?MY HOUSE IS HOT,IM DESPERATE!
