In Feb, he hurt his arm playing basketball. Took him to the ER and they xrayed him for broken bones. Luckily nothing. She showed me his growth plate on his arm and said "it's getting close to closing and he should grow a little taller". That was in February and he really hasn't grown since. My question is, is it possible for it to close without him growing any more? He's about 5'7. Am I being impatient? How fast to growth plates "close" in the body?

My son was invited to the Football University Combine in KC this weekend. He has never been timed on a 40yd dash before until this day. He's 14, in 8th grade and ran a 5.10 (HH) and a 5.16 (HH).

What I'm asking for is if anyone knows how to critique, his stance, his form,...etc. We both believe that he could have done better. 5.00 or possibly 4.9. Take a look and any feedback is much appreciated.

Her mom was dropping her off at school and she noticed that today was the walking activity that the school does every year. As soon as she saw it, she goes "Oh man, I forgot my water bottle,...I'm so stupid." The way she said it was saddening. This is the first time we've heard this. She's usually very cheerful, high energy and always smiling. Any advice?

Long story short, my son is pretty good at football and plays running back. This is his last year in youth football since he'll be in HS next season. I don't know if I should be concerned because he did grow taller during the offseason and got slimmer. He's about 5"6 and 130lbs. During summer camp, his coach made a comment saying that he needed to "beef up". He looked like he was half joking. But my dad has been saying that I should be giving him whole milk so he can put on some "pudding" if he wants to continue at RB. My question is, should I even worry?? Afterall, he's in the 8th grade, it's nature, and he'll get weight training when he goes into HS next year. The check was NOT payable to them. Only my name. He gave me 2 options. #1 Put it towards the loan principle, or #2 deposit it, and they'll put a hold on it until I bring in an invoice for repairs and then they cut a check. Last week, a woman was shot to death on her way home from work at 2am. It happened in the quiet part of town and the Sheriff's dept have been investigating. The suspect took her vehicle and tried to burn it, but it didn't work. The sheriff dept said that they have evidence collected at the scene of the crime and in the vehicle where a "feeble fire" was attempted. The sheriff would "NOT COMMENT" on key questions, like do they have a suspect or what kind of weapon was used. They are still asking people to call in with tips. IS it safe to say that they don't have a suspect and probably will not solve this case?? They called this a "random attack" so does that make it even harder to solve? It's been a week now and no suspects, not even a sketch. I'm starting to lose faith that this murder will get solved and that this family will get closure.

He just started 7th grade and is now eligible to play for his school. For the past 3 years, he's been playing for a pretty good youth football league that is pretty competitive, has top-notch equipment, and is a high school feeder team. He started practice for the youth league a few weeks ago but now he wants play for the school that starts practice next week. Part of me wants him to so I can see him play in more games. But the other part doesn't want him to. Don't it to take a toll physically. I don't want him to burnout. Input needed.

Everytime I turn the shower on after it's been turned off for a long time, I immediately start coughing for a few seconds. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the shower or the water coming out. Does anyone have an idea?

My knee was in pain and swelling. Went to an orthopedic today. He drained some fluid and then shot it up with some Cortizone. It feels a lot better since. How long is this supposed to last?

This morning I took my 04 Malibu Classic to a "total" repair shop because all of a sudden, I wasn't able to drive forward. I could go in reverse, but not forward. This afternoon, they told me that they have to revert it to a transmission specialist shop down the road. My reaction is, "oh great". Could someone give me a best case scenario of what this could be? I know the worst could cost a grand or more.
