  • Technics SL-Q350 Turntable - does it have a built in preamp?

I am trying to diagnose an output problem of this turntable. My father a long time bought a new reciever to play DVD's and got rid of his old one. The new receiver doe snot have a specific phono input, and I believe does not do any RIAA pre-amp.

It may also have lost a ground wire when he moved it.

Does this turntable have a built in RIAA preamp? That would eliminate that issue.

  • Windows 7 Beta - anyplace to download it?

I need to buy an OS for a new computer I built. However, Windows 7 will be out much later this year (and the reviews are very good for it), but I need a windows OS right now.

Instead of buying a copy of windows xp or Vista right now, I would like to use Windows 7 Beta until it is released, and then buy Windows 7 and use my money for an updated OS.

So, are there any torrents anywhere that have legit copies of Windows 7 beta? (MS is still generating product keys for it, even though they stopped distributing the 2.5 mil downloads they gave out).

  • Copyright issues with taking pictures of commercially owned buildings?

I would like to take a picture of an apartment building, then include that picture in an advertising flyer for my residential services, that I will give to the residents of that apartment building. (Yes I will at least have permission to hand out the flyers). Would the use of that image be allowed? There are no signs on the building indicating its location, owners or name, but the building would be easily recognizable to its residents, but its appearance, features and nearby landmarks that might make the image.

Or would this become a legal issue if the photo is legally usable, because it would somehow show I am endorsed by the building's owner? (I really do not think anyone would make such as issue in this case)

  • Noise canceling headphones effective on airliners?

Are noise canceling headphones effectives on airlines? Many of these headphones are advertised to be used on planes, but is the level of noise that annoying to make one of these gadgets a good purchase?

  • Can I copyright a photos of a politician at a rally?

What are the copyright laws governing photos of politicians? I have taken photos of a politicians during a political rally. The rally occurred inside a stadium. Some of the photos have a billboard advertisement in the background, but other than that, there is very little, if anything that can identify the stadium.

  • Do Carbon Offset sellers of trees provide insurance?

Do any of the carbon offset sellers of trees provide insurance on your purchase? For instance, suppose someone gives money to an organization in Africa and they plant trees in a plot of land they bought (also denying the local population of farmable land, irrigation, and denying the land use by animals). Do any of these organizations provide insurance against natural disasters, illegal logging, set fires, or political land confiscation from governments (like what happens in Zimbabwae). Your investment in these tree offsets would need to be kept alive for decades of years, if not hundreds. One day, you might find yourself living a life with no offsets because artillery fire from a new war obliterates the tree plot you invested in. What then, especially if you find out you need to purchase credits for your past 50 years to make up for it.
