  • How do I get a Win95 game to run on WinXP?

From a previous Best Answer by drumrb0y 7 yrs ago I learned this: "...Win XP contains an emulator that enables some software written for Win95/98 to run in a DOS shell, like it used to; since XP doesn't use the old DOS under the OS, it otherwise wouldn't run if the emulator wasn't there..."

If the emulator is there will I know it? Do I have to write special commands in DOS to make it run? I installed it once, and thought it was going to work; then it glitched out on the music card. It wants Roland or Soundblaster and I have RealTek. I really love this game, "The 11th Hour," sequel to "The 7th Guest." Can anyone help me, please?

  • Can a jar of store-bought sweet pickle relish become spoiled even though it has never been opened?

I bought it only 6 weeks ago, and have kept it in the refrigerator. When a local schoolboy held a food drive, I decided to put the relish in with the Miracle Whip, tuna in spring water, chunky chicken and a loaf of bread for the makings of a delicious sandwich. I took the relish out of the fridge while I packed the bag and after about an hour the lid popped, the little round safety thingy. It was only out for a while, and the jar was still cool to the touch. I wasn't sure what to do: after all, sweet pickle relish is swimming in preservatives - salt, sugar, vinegar - and I have never known it to spoil. Nevertheless, I opted to leave it out of the food donation bag. I certainly didn't want anyone to get sick. But I didn't throw it out, and I am tempted to use it on MY sandwiches. I would just like to know if sweet pickle relish can spoil.

  • Installed IE8. Need to reinstall IE7. Do I go browser less once IE8 departs & before IE7 comes home?

I've visited forums, researched Y/Answers, MS-Web... but while I learned a lot from the good info given, none of it answered my question about whether I can uninstall IE8, reboot successfully, then reinstall IE7. Can I do that? Be without any browser briefly? (OS is Win XP SP2.)

  • What is JQSIEStartDetectorImpl Class?

The ads that slide down a news page I'm trying to read are really starting to annoy me, so I'm trying to find out just what ActiveX control runs them so that I can disable it (I assume they are run by an ActiveX control; I certainly could be wrong). The Properties box in the ad is no help at all, and there is no "View Source" option. So I'm going through all my browser add-ons to see if any look like they could be the culprit, especially those that run without requiring permission. Can anyone help me before I completely crash my PC?

  • Luminaries: is there a tool for cutting designs into the paper bags?

I want to make Christmas luminaries, so I bought paper bags, tea lights, kitty litter, etc. Then I realized I don't know how to cut designs into the paper bags easily, like stars, trees, angels, etc. If I have to do them one at a time with an Exacto knife, it will take me forever. Does anyone know of a special craft tool to cut these designs quickly and easily?

  • Convince me why I should, or should not, continue the satellite radio service available in my car.?

I recently bought a new car and it came with 3 months of free satellite radio service. The try-out period is nearly over, and I since I've never paid attention to this particular technology, I would like to hear why I should, or should not, continue the subscription which costs $12.95/mo.

  • How much $$ should I send?

My ex-husband's niece sent me an invitation to her HS graduation shindig. We've been divorced 10 years and were separated off-and-on for 2 years before that. I haven't seen the girl since she was 5 years old, nor had any contact with my ex's family. They didn't even send a card when my mother died, and I was still married to their son/brother at the time! Nevertheless, I have more class than to ignore the invitation, but I need help in deciding on just the right amount of money to send as a gift. Any help will be appreciated.

  • What's going on with my PC?

All of a sudden the games I play are loading slightly off-center, with the right edge sliding under the monitor frame and a black margin at the left edge. It only happens with games, i.e., arcade games, hidden object, etc. Any ideas?

  • If anyone here has had a beloved cat diagnosed with lymphatic cancer, will you please tell me what you did?

She is only 14 years old. She has never been ill before. And she is the sweetest, most loving and trusting cat I have had out of the 7 I have loved over 35 years. The vet says if nothing is done, she has 3 to 4 weeks; if steroids are given, she might improve for an unknown length of time; and her life span could be increased for 9 months to several years if she is treated with chemo. He says chemo is not as hard on cats as it is on people, but that they do sometimes lose their hair. If any of you used either the steroid or chemo option, I would like to know the outcome and how you feel about it now. Thank you. And please, no cruel jokes: there is enough pain as it is.

  • Learning a new language?

I am a senior citizen, and I want to learn a second language, probably Spanish (Latin American), but maybe Farsi. Has anyone used the Rosetta Stone software, and, if so, would you recommend it?

  • What is the plural of thumbs up?

I'm a real fan of Yahoo!Answers; think it is one of the best things they do. So I set aside time to rate answers and vote on answers, not just to answer questions. When I do my ratings gig and give a number of thumbs up (rarely a thumbs down; I'm too soft), have I given thumbs up? Or thumbs ups? ;-)

  • How do I make my 360 page viewable to others?

I want others to be able to view the page (not that it's all that interesting!) and to post comments, etc. I've looked at answers to similar questions, and changed all the settings accordingly to "Public." But Q&A page still says other cannot view my 360. I do not use any Messenger program: is that the problem?

Discovery is a go for July 4th launch despite the crack in the foam insulation covering the fuel tank.
