What gives people the moral right to go beyond challenging a police officer doing his job...?
and make up lies in an attempt to get the officer fired to get out of a ticket they earned?
I understand the right to argue an officers opnion of a complete stop as opposed to roling through a stop sign. The legal system has an avenue set up just for this. If you do not like the officers opnion you take him to traffic court. But to go beyond this and make out sworn statements and lies in an attempt to have the officer fired is beyond me.
I know there are people who refuse to take responsibility for their actions and find ways to blame others for their actions, but there needs to be a limit somewhere. If you don't want to take the responsibilty for your actions and want to blame others that's fine. But to get out of a $150.00 ticket by trying to ruin the officers reputation and job is silly.
The officer relies on his income the same as everyone else. He has bills to pay and mouths to feed as well.
Why do people try this approach to handeling a situation.
18 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoIs there a group of the general public hate LEO in other countries as well?
This question is mainly directed towards Law Enforcement Officers in countries other than the USA. If your not, but have knowledge please feel free to asnwer as well.
I know when someone is being placed under arrest, it is common in all countries for that person to hate you, but what I want to know is there a group of the general public also that hate, disrespect, lothe, make up lies, etc about the police in your counrty? Like here on YA, there are people that just want to discredit all Police and what they stand for, even though the precentage of crooked cops is very low. Or is it a reflection of our Society only?
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoDo you ever want to laugh?
When someone you stop says they pay for you salary? Do they think that police officers do not pay Taxes too and therefore also pay for their own salary? I mean if the violator pays my salary and I pay my salary, which boss am I going to listen to?
12 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoHazard Lights = Exempt form The Law?
Have you ever noticed that when someone is knowingly violating the Law such as parking in a Fire Lane, No Parking Zone, Double Parked, Lane Of Traffic, Etc... They turn on their Hazard Light and do it any way?
Do they think this makes them exepmt from the Law?
I have stopped and issued a citation to a person in the fire lane for this and they got Livid with me. Explaining "But I had my hazard lights on!!!"
8 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoIf they hate us (Law Enforcement) so much?
Why do so many of the police haters find it irresistible to stay out of the Law Enforcement section of YA? I mean why put yourself through the torment of posting an answer, knowing you are going to be getting a lot of thumbs down. This section has it's haters, but the majority are pro police.
I would name some of them off, but that would be a violation and get this question removed, besides the regulars know who you are anyway.
12 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoDoes it amaze you?
How many people break the law, know they break the law, then try to beat it by a technicality. For example speeding tickets. They were speeding, they got caught, then the officer writes something incorrect on the ticket. Day after day I see people in here posting question on how to get out of a ticket that they deserve.
Do you ever wonder if these same people are the ones crying about police not doing their job, because some criminal walked free do to a technicality?
18 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoHow do cop killers choose their victims?
I am looking for a study that was done of convicted cop killers on how they choose their cop victims. I have only heard about it, but have never read it. If anyone knows where I can find this it would be really helpfull.
2 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhy would a person take advise...??
from a friend or relative or anyone for that matter about the law and what police can do if that friend or relative has nothing to do with Law Enforcement or the Legal System?
It amazes me how may people get the Jail House Lawyer answers to legal questions and take that advise to heart. Would you ask your friend the best way to do laser eye surgery on a loved one and then go do it when the friend is not a doctor?
We are cosntantly seeing people who take the advise of others about questions like "Entrapment", "If I ask if your a cop you have to tell me", "You can't search without a warrant under any circumstances", "You did not read me my rights when I was arrested" etc.
Legal questions can have serious legal outcomes if the question was answered incorrectly, so why would you ask someone who is not in the legal field and take that advise to heart?
9 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhy do people blame the police??
I hear it all the time, that the police do nothing or carter to the criminal and not the victim. In all honesty taking the bad guy to jail and helping the public is why we do the job. We do not do it for the pay, we don't do it for all the smart comments we are forced to hear, and we sure don't do it beacuse we can get shot at.
It is not the police that need to be blamed for "doing nothing" or "catering to the criminal." Police have to obey the law. The criminals do too, but they don't care. If a Police Officer is doing nothing, it is because the Law prevents us from doing it. If a Police Officer appears to be catering to the criminal, it's because the Deffense Lawyers and Law Makers have put in place Laws that tie the Officers hands.
There are some lazy Officers who just want a paycheck, but don't profile us and toss us all into one group.
If you don't like the way Officers do their job, go vote. Get the Laws changed. Place the blame where it belongs.
18 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoA question for Lawyers??
When I catch a drunk driver, time and time again the offender tells me that their Lawyer advised them not to do any Field Sobriety Test, Do not give a sample of their breath or blood, and invoke your rights and remain silent.
Now I know that the Lawyers are suppose to be on the clients side and not the Officers side when it comes down to trial, but would it not be better for everyone, Client, Officer, Public, if the Lawyer told the client "Don't Drink & Drive?"
9 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat about the person with the highest best answer percentage?
I have noticed that at the top of an answers category they show the person with the most best answers. What about the person with the highest best answer percentage? I currently have a 66% best answer rating, but do not even list in the top 10 answerers. I have checked the others best answer precentage ratings and non of them are as high. Whats the point of the best answer precentage?
6 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoHow To Tip A Pool Cue??
I just bought a Pool Cue for my Wife. I know nothing about pool cues and she is just getting into it. She has always used the pool cues that are at the tables where the tips are already ruff. The pool cue I bought her has a hard wooden tip. How do you ruff the tip up so it holds chalk? What tips are the best type? Do all tips glue on? Any sugestions would be great.
4 AnswersSnooker & Pool1 decade agoWhy is it?
I have noticed that when I get called to an illegaly parked vehicle, the offender always feels the need to point out other cars on the street that are also illegaly parked, yet I have also noticed that motorist feel obligated to warn other motorist by flashing their lights that there is a police car running radar up ahead. Why is it you want to warn some of the public and drop dimes on the others.
7 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhy not just obey the law?
I look at questions in Yahoo answers all the time and I have come to notice a trend. A vast majority of the questions are asking how to beat the law and get over on the cops. Why not just obey the law. It's not that difficult.
I understand that some of the askers are normal people who get caught running late and break minor traffic violations. However other posters are actual (hate to use the term) real criminals trying to get over. Whats with you people? Obey the law its that simple.
12 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoCan anyone tell me why?
As a police officer, I get complained on, degraded, ridiculed, etc just for doing my job. I understand there are a lot of people out there, mostly criminals that hate me and my peers. These are the ones this queston is meant for. Why do you hate me us so much, yet when you need the police, you still call. I went to a call today where I had to take a person to jail on a warrant charging him with theft over $500 less than $1500. All I got from him was lip and smak talk. Almost open threats. He made bail a few hours later and was back on the streets. Later in the night I get a call to the same house for a burglary. The same guy I had just arrested is my complainant. Whlie he was out (In jail for theft), someone broke into his house and took his wide screen tv. Now hes my best friend. Even stating how we don't get paid enough and saying he is glad I wear the uniform, because he know he could not do it. If you hate us why call us? If you know we help, then why treat us the way you do?
15 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat makes people think..............????
What makes people think that when they see a Police Officer on a traffic stop, that now would be the best time to ask that officer a question??? I have been approached numerous times with questions for directions or legal advice while I am doing a traffic stop. I was just wondering if people stop to consider the danger they put themselves in, not to mention the danger to the Officer???
6 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoDoes anyone have a good ghost story or myth they would like to share?
I figured it's Halloween time and everyone has had some kind of supernatural thing happen to them at some point, or there is a local myth/haunting in the area you live. I would just like to hear some of them.

7 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhy do parents tell their kids to stop doing this or that or that policeman over there will arrest you?
Im a police officer, and when I'm in uniform I hear this all the time. Parents should encourage their kids to speak with us and trust us, not be afraid of us.
I know what some of you are going to respond with (Police can't be trusted) and if thats your opnion of all law enforcement, then my guess is your parents told you the same thing when you were a chid.
We are there to help, serve, and protect. So why would you want to buid a distrust in police officers from that early of an age? If your child was lost or hurt would you not want them to feel safe with letting an officer help?
