Need suggestions as to why car won't start.?
I have a 98 Olds Intrigue. While driving home, I went to pass another car and as I accelerated, the car jerked and started losing power. Trac off light came on as well as service engine light. However, the car seemed to gain power but then it started to overheat. I pulled into a gas station and a mechanic there saw that there was no coolant in the radiator. We added water but the car didn't want to start. He read the DTC and said that it read multiple misfires. The car finally started and I nursed it home but it ran rough the whole way and died once. Found the coolant leak which was caused by a rotted intake plenum seal which was causing massive coolant loss and pooling of coolant on the top of the intake manifold. There was no water found in the oil or coolant found when spark plugs were cleaned. Replaced the plenum seal, replaced the thermostat housing seal. Checked and all cylinders have fire. The fuel pressure is approx 46 psi. But the car still won't start. Unfortunately didn't get the DTC's before removing battery cables so it cleared the computer of the codes (yeah, shoulda thought of that but didn't). I have fire and fuel. When I try to start the car, it sounds like it wants to catch and backfire but can't quite get there. There are no off mechanical sounds, like clanging or whining. So what could be some of the other problems? I've thought of the crank positon sensor, the ignition module but is there anything else? And if it is the crank position sensor, does anyone know how much it would cost to replace or if it can be tested to see if it needs replacing?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDo I have any legal rights concerning a used car I bought?
I am in Texas, and 4 weeks ago I bought a used 1998 Olds Intrigue since that was all I could afford. I couldn't afford a mechanic to go with me but I check the oil, transmission fluid, brakes, checked for leaks and test drove it. One week ago, the car died. There is a coolant leak, and electrical problem and a probably blown head gasket. Basically the car is worthless now. I called the dealership to let them know and also to inquire about the title and tags since I hadn't received them yet. It turns out that they do not have the title or the tags at the dealership and are looking into it. So is there a legal case here somewhere or should I just chalk it up to bad luck?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoHow can I remove the plug wires and spark plugs from my 98 olds intrigue?
I'm trying to remove the plug wires and spark plugs on this car but it has a boot that covers the spark plug and the end of the plug wire. I've tried pulling and wiggling it but it won't come off although it does loosen some. Do I need to remove the plug wires first to remove the boot? I've tried to pull them off first but the plug wires aren't coming off either.
7 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoI bought a used car 3 weeks ago and now the engine is blown. Any laws that protect me?
I bought a 98 Olds Intrigue on July 22nd and on August 14th, the car stopped running. When I got to the gas station the radiator was dry and the head gasket was blown. I was able to nurse it home but now it doesn't work at all. Before I bought it, I checked the oil, transmission fluid, checked for leaks, etc and there were no problems that I noticed. Now, I have a useless car and no money for repairs. Does the dealership have any responsibility in helping pay for the repairs or is it all on me?
7 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoMy engine overheated and now my car won't start. What could be some of the reasons?
I have a 98 Olds Intrigue, which I bought three weeks ago. I was driving on the highway and went to pass another vehicle. As the car accelerated, it jerked and lost some power. Immediately, I noticed that the car was overheating and pulled over at the nearest gas station, about 5 miles away. When the engine cooled, I removed the radiator cap and there was no coolant. I added water and started the car. At first the car did not want to start but eventually caught. But it was running very rough. I was able to nurse the car home, the temp came down but I noticed white smoke coming from the engine and the tailpipe about halfway home, about 6 miles. I thought it was the excess water that had gotten onto the engine that was now boiling away. The next day, I started the car but it ran very rough, like it was misfiring, and then it died. There was no smoke coming from the engine/tailpipe at that time. But now the car won't start although it tries to catch. Besides a blown head gasket, what other things can I check for first? And if it is the head gasket, what are some ways that it can be fixed. I have very little money for repairs, very very little. So any help/advice you can offer would be appreciated.

1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoIs this a phishing email?
Just got this today and it seems suspicious. Since I do not have AT&T DSL or other wireless service, why do they need to know my email username and password? And what kind of big company would ask me to insert my username and password and then send the email back instead of directing me to a website? Here's the email.

5 AnswersAbuse and Spam1 decade agoHas anyone attended a bartending school? What did you get out of it and was it worth it?
I'm interested in becoming a bartender but I have no experience. I've seen bartending schools and was wondering about them. I live in the Dallas area. Is there another way to get into bartending? Has anyone gone to bartending schools? Did it help you get a job? And do you get paid a decent wage in bartending?
5 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoI need some answers on a career in trucking and would appreciate advice from a trucker.?
I'm interested in a career in trucking but lack facts. How long are you away from home when doing long hauls? How many days do you have off in between trips? How many hours can you drive in a day? Do you have to take breaks every so many hours? Do you have to have a few years of doing long hauls before local trucking companies will hire you? Are you home for the holidays or on the road most years? What if you had several speeding tickets a few years ago but they were deferred; will companies still hire you? How often are you drug tested? Do you have to stop at every open weigh station? Is it a hard physical job? Who loads and unloads the truck at the destination? What are some of the major pros and cons in being a trucker?
3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoI am interested in a career in trucking but I don't know much about the different kinds.?
I'm considering truck driving as a change in careers but as a beginner, do you need to do the long hauls or will local companies hire you? And for long hauls, how long are you away from home, how many hours can you drive in a day, can you take breaks as you need to, how long are you at home before your next trip, etc? Anyone who can give me some details on a trucking career is an angel and the information would be so appreciated. Except for a few speeding tickets which I got deferred, I have a clean driving record.

1 AnswerTelevision1 decade agoNow the Muslims are upset with the pope. Are Muslims the only ones who can criticize other religions?
The pope was quoting from a recorded conversation between a 14th Christian emperor and a Muslim cleric. In the quote was a bit how the teachings of Mohammed are evil and inhuman because of spreading his faith by the sword. Now the Muslims are all riled up, calling the pope all kinds of names, and demanding an apology. What do they call Christians, Jews, Hindus, atheists? Why is it acceptable for them to condemn other beliefs, or lack thereof? And lets face it, it is evil and inhuman when you kill ppl because they refuse to accept your beliefs. It is evil and inhuman when you blow ppl up because some pedophile over a thousand years ago said it was what God wanted. Why should they act the victim when other ppl speak out against that type of mind-set?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDid you know that it is perfectly legal to have a radar detector in the states of Texas and Oklahoma?
I have lived in Texas for 20 years and never knew this. I have gotten speeding tickets out the butt, paid numerous fines, and taken those boring defensive driving classes at least 5 times. Now I find out that its legal to have a radar detector. And it is because I have noticed the cops looking at it on my dashboard as I drive pass. So for $100 I could have saved myself a crapload of time and money. Now you know too.
3 AnswersCommunity Service1 decade agoIf we have declared war on terrorism, why do we supply them with the money to carry out their attacks?
With all the technology that has developed in the last 100 years, why have we not found an alternative to the combustible engine? Or an alternative fuel that comes from an abundant source and is regenerable? If we stop using oil and gasoline, there will be no money to purchase guns, rockets, etc. By not finding other means, we are supplying the very ppl who try to destroy us. So what can we do to stop them?
