  • Algae Bloom in Bore Tank?

I have a bore tank that holds what from a bore well which has a high salinity/mineral content. The water is used only for toilets in my house. I have just discovered that I have an algae bloom in the tank which is causing a terrible odour. Are there any home treatments that I can use to kill the algae? Preferably without causing problems in my septic system.

  • Antique Septic?

I live in a late 1800's house with a very antique septic system. Until recently there'd been no prob. But, a few weeks ago I discovered that it was full, and manually bailed it out. since then there has been an ever increasing sulphur odor in the toilet area. Now, the septic is full again and the odor is very strong. I need advice on how to correct this problem on my own. Calling in a plumber is NOT and option. Thanks in advance. I live in a very hot area in Aus, and temps are regularly over 40 C or 100 F already. I worry that the heat is going to make the odor unbearable.

  • Am I Too Good To Him?

I've been dating this man for 6 months now. We get along really well. In fact, we've never had a cross word between us. I am head over heels in love with him. I don't know for sure how he feels about me. He is a very complicated man who has difficulty expressing his emotions, so I have to read between the lines a lot with him. I am fairly confidant that he's attached to me as well..but sometimes I worry that it has more to do with the fact that I spoil him rotten. He does reciprocate in his own way..but I've read in several relationship books recently that being too nice to a man makes him think you are needy? Is this really true? I genuinely enjoy spoiling him..it's in my nature to be a nurturer..and he really needs a bit of TLC in his stressful life. But..I want he and I to be together for a long time yet..and want to do things right for both of us. So where do I draw the line?

  • A man perspective?

I've been casually dating this guy for a couple of months now. Basically we have agreed to being "Friends with Benefits". But I'm beginning to notice that each weekend when he comes out to my place he tends to want to stay longer, is increasingly affectionate in a non-sexual way, and is starting to help out with things like cutting firewood. I don't mind at all, in fact, I am getting rather attached to him, but am wondering if to him this progression is a sign that he is getting more attached, and that things might be going to begin to get a bit more serious. He's not the sort that can easily articulate what he feels, so asking him isn't likely to get me anywhere. So I thought I might get a bit of feedback from impartial people. I'm not really sure what I want from our relationship, but having a good feel for where he is would certainly make me better able to decide where I want things to go from here.

  • Water Dreams?

Regardless of the subject matter I seem to always have water in my dreams. Usually large bodies of water such as lakes, canals, oceans. The water never seems to be a big part of the dream. But it is always there. What does water usually represent in dreams?

  • Rescuers version of the Rainbow Bridge?

Several years ago someone gave me a different version of the Rainbow Bridge. It was similar, but was meant for rescuers. I lost my copy and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know this one, or where I might can find it on the net?

To help you come up with ideas, I will tell you about the baby. He's a western grey, 968 grams. His mum was killed by a car. His brothers and sisters are Shadow, Louisa, Ned, and Jack. All suggestions are much appreciated! And I will post a link with some photos tomorrow after he's had some time to settle in.

  • I Really Don't Get It! Dating Advice Please!?

I've just started seeing this guy. We have an excellent physical relationship. The problem is, I really don't know how to read him yet. One minute I think he's interested in a commited relationship, the next I think he's not. I'm not sure what I want either. And I really don't know how to discuss it with him without him thinking I want a commitment. So I'd rather just sort of get an idea from his body language etc... There's this other guy I am sort of interested in, but don't want to stuff up the first relationship.... I'm just really rusty, terribly confused and could use some input. If it makes a difference, neither of us are kids, I'm in my 40's and he's in his 50's.

  • New Millennium Dating Etiquette?

I just met this guy. Had him over for dinner last night. We hit it off, and I am definitely interested. And am fairly confident that he is as well. But....when he left the last thing he said was something like "You have my number, give me a call". Ok, I am 41 years old. And haven't dated in a long long time. Back in my day a girl would never call a guy. I feel a bit stupid asking this, but is it more acceptable these days? And if it is, how long should I wait to make the call? I did send him a short email thanking him for a lovely evening. What now? Do I just sit and wait or what?

  • When to tell?

I am newly single, and just found a man that I am interested in dating. The problem is, that I am very very close to my ex's children. Especially his 14 year old daughter. She lives halfway across the country, but I bring her here for a visit every 3 months. What I wondering is when should I begin to tell her about the new man in my life? I know she loves her dad, and although she understands the reason we split, it would undoubtedly be awkward for her to see me with someone else. So how and when should I bring up the subject with her?

  • Has anyone else heard? Rabbit Owners?

I doubt this applies to many folks that use this board, but I thought I would mention it. There's been an outbreak of the Calicivirus in pet rabbits in the Adelaide SA region. Calici is used to control wild rabbits, but is affecting captive rabbits in the area. Anyone who has a pet rabbit that is not immunised should do so immediately! The first signs are no appetite for 12 to 24 hours, followed by internal bleeding, then death. Good luck Bunny owners!

  • Opinions on Kangaroo Wound Care Options?

I have a kangaroo joey with a severe leg injury from hanging in a fence. I've had totally contradictory advice from two separate vets, and am a bit frustrated at this point. So I thought I would get some opinions from you folks. The wounds are open, nothing to stitch. You can see recent photos of them at http://www.flickr.com/photos/pattis_plac... but don't click if you are squeemish! Ok, he's on daily antibiotic injections, but I am of two minds whether I should be using something like an antiseptic powder to dry the wounds out, or an antibiotic ointment? I am changing the dressings daily. I apply a non-stick dressing, then soft thick roll gauze, then vet wrap. What do you guys think? Dry it out or keep it moist?

  • What's the matter with people?

I just starting reading this Q & A section a few days back. I am so shocked at the amount of hatred and venom some people throw at folks just trying to network. I'm straight, but my son, and some of my best friends are gay. Are you (as in LGBTs) subjected to this sort of ignorance and unjustified hatred frequently in the real world? If so, how in the world do you handle it?

  • How do I best support my son?

My 22 year old son just found out that one of the men he was intimate with recently has tested positive for HIV. He did use protection but I think he's really frightened. How do I best support him while he waits for testing? It hasn't been 6 to 8 weeks yet.

  • Kangaroo Blog?

I have been asked to take in a very special little Joey. He was found stuck hanging in a fence and has severe leg injuries. I'm due to drive the 3 hours to pick him up in the morning, and I was wondering if I were to start him a blog of his own so that people could watch his progress as he goes through what is going to be a long recovery process would anyone be interesting in following his story?

  • Nutritional Value of Lucerne?

I've been asked to contribute an article to a wildlife group's magazine. I thought I would like to do it on the nutritional value of the various types of hay so that kangaroo and wombat owners can provide the absolute best diet for their animals. Does anyone know of any links that would give me info on the nutritional value of lucerne, vetch, wheaten, and oaten hay? Thanks in advance.
