I'm trying to set up a repeater station and wondering how a duplexer comes in. I'm under the impression that it allows the repeater station to receive and transmit on the same frequency simultaneously... but is a duplexer an attachment to a standard repeater/transceiver, or is it a different and independent animal altogether?

Basically, is anyone familiar with radio communications willing to explain a basic duplexing repeater to me...?

Attempting to help a friend fix a computer issue... when starting up the computer throws an error of "incompatible disk structure" or something similar to that... (troubleshooting over the phone is lame!). Here's what I knew about the system:

I think I have an idea for a way to store a shotgun loaded and to make it tactically accessable for home defense... for all those people who prefer shotguns to pistols. Two questions: would you consider buying one for your house, and if so, how much would you be willing to pay for such a storage device?

Here's the background:

Vehicle parked on a surface residential street. According to Washington state law, ticketing for an abandoned vehicle has to be done 7 days before the vehicle is towed... as such I was checking my vehicle every four days (it was parked in front of my apartment complex).

One day it was gone. Come to find out, the officer had ticketed the vehicle as "unattended vehicle: parked on a highway." This is OBVIOUSLY not true, but THAT charge means that they can tow the vehicle after 24 hours rather than 7 days.

So, obviously, I think this is criminal on the part of the officer... but what is the name of the crime and what is my recourse to file a complaint and have the ticket removed?

Okay, here's the situation... I was driving on the freeway on a dark foggy night, following a semi for a little added protection. There was a kind of large animal carcass laying on the road (large dog or small deer, couldn't tell). I didn't see it until i hit it with both the front and rear driver's side tire. nothing's ratling or anything underneath and it seems to be driving straight.

So I noticed, though, that whenever I accelerate or brake that the back driver's side wheel well emits a squeek. Well, it's shorter than that really, more a slight chirp. At constant speeds, no noise whatsoever. What could be the issue? Is it likely to be too serious to where I can't drive it on a 100 mile round trip this weekend? Ideas please?

Let's say that the germans didn't fall for our tricks in WWII leading up to D-day. Assume the beach landing forces were repulsed and largely destroyed and the paratrooper force was isolated and captured or killed... how would the allies have moved from that point, and, in your opinion, would that have changed the outcome of the eventual fate of the axis powers in the war? (considering that it would have allowed germany to continue greater efforts in Africa and Russia unless you think the western front could have been opened again...)

I have a '77 Dodge Custom 4x4 with a 318 V-8 automatic transmission with 3 gears. I THINK it currently has a 4 barrel carb, but I'd like to take it down to a 2 barrel carb to save a bit of gas mileage AND to reduce the horsepower a bit so that it doesn't spin tires so bad in the cold weather here. I don't know what the current mileage is, but I'd guess it's around 15 mpg. What I want to know is a rough estimate of what the improvement on gas mileage would be... just a good guess is fine.

so i'm dating this girl, and it's great, but i have a bad habit of over-analyzing things. I'm not worried about her cheating on me, but I just always find reasons to think that she doesn't like me as much as i like her. I know, it's driving me nuts and it's all in my head... i've done it before with other girls i've dated too. does anyone else get worried about these things? how do you deal with it?
