  • Should I study medicine or physics?

Hello all. Something that I've been seriously considering is whether I should study medicine or physics. Since things are different in the Netherlands system, one has to think of these things since high school(since you start learning medicine immediately as an undergraduate degree). I love medicine because of it's analytical nature. One has to really apply the science which they've studied into real world practice. And in general, I like anatomy, chemistry and biology. The science of the human body has always fascinated me. As well as the ability to help people. Particularly neurosciences. So specialities like neurology and psychiatry are the most interesting ones to me. As well as the surgical ones. Though aware that both physics and medicine would require huge commitments, I'm considering both as a possible future career. With physics, I'm deeply curious about the fundamental laws of nature. I've talked with amazing people working in the natural science fields(and I'm still in high school). I'm interested in the mechanics of how things work. The how's and why's. And not at all interested in the engineering aspect of it(since I know those two are closely related). The constant making of new hypothesis and testing of new theories is like a musician's passion for music. Even the boring stuff..

But I'm particularly interested in the big questions. Areas like cosmology and quantum physics are among the most interesting to me.

  • Should I choose sport or music?

Hi guys. I wanted to gain your help from this. I'm a guitar student and I've been doing so for the last 3 years. I've gotten really good at it, but it's never where my passion was. I generally started doing it because I was too young and wanted to find a way to impress my parents. But before those 3 years I did 3 years of fencing. And even though 2010 is a while back, I still remember being in love with the sport. And now that feeling is rising up again. And what adds to it is that I have a bad guitar teacher that barely teaches me how to progress in reading sheet music(most of my learning progress in music is done by self study). I feel like it's just there so I could go every monday each week and say "Hey, I go to music classes". And I hate the fact that I left fencing 3 years ago.

I want to start back remembering how fun the people were and my personal interest into it's history. Bit here's the problem.

My school year didn't go so well this year. And of course I will need to focus a lot more on it the upcoming one. And my parents aren't likely to allow me to start fencing again(since it's 2 days of the week) despite me telling them I could balance it. So I really have no idea what to do cause I'm sick of doing something I'm not really that into every week with a terrible guitar teacher.

  • Should I just give up on my crush?

I'm a 17 year old at high school. My main focus is school and I work really hard to not mess up at school. I can be good or horrible at socializing. About 4 months ago I met a girl that just immigrated here. She's new to our school and I offered to help her get used to all the differences here. One day we sat down and talked about different things. We joked around, talked about our hobbies and passions, and she told me a bit of her backround story. It hit me to my core that since that day I started building a crush for this nice girl. She loves drawing, she's kinda shy yet open and friendly to almost everyone, and seems happy even when she's sad. I asked after time passed if she has a boyfriend since there is this guy(that also came from where she's from) that always sits next to her during lunch break. Turns out it's her ex and they were a couple. But not anymore though the guy still likes her. The problem is I kinda feel bad for the guy, and then again I have problem approaching this girl since I get extremely shy around her. She smiles, flirts a little and gives me signs but there's still a part of me that feels like it's a bit too good to be true or that she deserves more then a shy quiet person like me(which is true). Many guys already tried to hit on her. Flirting a lot. So it kinda makes me think this may just not work and that it is not meant to be.

I know this is super long and I'm sorry for that. But I really do hope one of you could give me an insightful answer.

  • Which one of these talents should I do get known for?

Hello guys and good evening. Firstly I'd like to thank you for even checking this question out :).

Lately I've been doing a lot of research, practice, and performing for people on the street and elsewhere with magic(illusions). I've loved that art-form for a while and I really want to keep going at it and I'm also inspired to do so. I don't want to stop nor do something else as my main cover of what I can do(talent way of speaking). Channels like Disturb Reality on youtube and a lot of research taught me a lot about self-confidence for going out there and entertaining others, as well for sleight of hand magic tricks and hypnosis.

    Sorry for that long part.

The twist is just that I've been also playing the guitar for almost 5 years now and for others I'm much better off with it. I do play the guitar a lot(fingerstyle mostly) and get noticed for it more quicker as well. But I have it as a side talent and hobby. My true passion is within my hobby of being a magician doing cool illusions. I know that I should go for what I feel like doing from my heart or the one I began with(which is the guitar), but I wanted to ask one your opinion.

Let's say of I was to go to a talent show, which one would you guys think I'm better off with?

  • Why do some people call me goth or a vampire?

I know for certain that I'm neither(especially the second since it's stupid and I know they used it in a more saying type of way with a different meaning) and shouldn't worry about what they say. But sometimes I can't help but to wonder. Personally I'm someone very dedicated at school. I'm 16 years old. I have friends though sometimes(most of the times) I like to be alone and observe things. And my hobbies are mostly about art. So paintings, creating music ect. I also love reading philosophical books. Books on mindfulness and different spiritual topics. Though I don't easily express my likes to others out there(except on the internet where they can hardly find me). I'm also a bit of a revolutionist against some of the western ways of thinking and against separation in all forms(sexuality, politics, religion), kind of an anarchist.

I understand that everyone has their own tastes and mindset but I'm very sure that I am doing nothing wrong. The only thing that might make them about rock and goth is because my favorite taste for music comes from the golden age of rock. But I don't like any other things in those categories such as heavy metal ect.

  • What does 'spiritual awakening' mean to you?

Just a fun question since I want to know how you think of enlightenment or spiritual awakening.

In my opinion it's just a state of self realization. Not something you obtain. Some people go for things like going every week to the church(I'm not against it), meditating in the darkness all day, studying books, buying crystals and other materials for 'spiritual' purpouses, opening chakra, yoga ect.

To start off I don't have any problems with any of these since I have done most of these(except constantly going to the church). But I realized that if I keep searching for knowledge or external things to find spiritual clarity I never will understand. Spiritual clarity and enlightenment is already within us. It's our natural state. And all we have to do is realize that. Love, avoiding illusions of this world, be kind to others..spirituality is just simplicity. At least in my opinion. What do you think about enlightenment?

  • What should I do? I feel spiritually lost.?

Since 2013 I started being more open minded to other beliefs and not limiting myself to Catholicism. I started practicing mindfulness which brought me closer to eastern philosophy. I really see things much more clearly with esoteric concepts then I ever had with my own religion. I've been practicing things such as yoga, different forms of meditation, martial arts for spiritual and physical purpouses and rarely but little times pagan practices. Things such as smudging and good fortune spells. I never practiced anything dark or whatsoever. But my family just found out about my practices(they are full blown Catholics and only my grandfather and mother are slightly open minded). They told me to accept Jesus thinking I somehow changed my ways and went to believe in some other deity. While metaphysics not only allowed me to understand Christianity better but also gave me insight into my own life. It made me feel closer to the person I truly am. Especially while studying Buddhism.

Now all that feeling of understanding is just fading away. Like I have to start over again with things I don't find to be completely true and things that limits me. I am willing to let go off things such as spells and deeper occult concepts but I feel like I need to still be who I am with meditation and esotericism.

Can you guys help me? Please don't be rude, I only want open suggestions and answers.

  • I can't control my rage outburst no matter how hard I try. Can you help me understand why?

I've always had anger management issues and used to get angry for the smallest things. But since last summer I began practicing yoga and mindfulness meditation at least 4 times a week(and when I couldn't, I would do it afterwards to catch up). I could have controlled my emotions and thoughts really good since I reminded myself that it is how I react to external events that matters. It was going really good until December. I began to slowly increase my anger again. I understand that life is an emotional rollar coaster(especially for teenagers. I am 16), but it feels like I lost my grip. Normally even through the worse I could keep my sht together, but now I just lost it. Especially a few moments ago. My brother told me that I shouldn't be talking about understanding life, mystical experiences and enlightenment cause I'm too young and don't know what I'm doing.

I trained myself not to worry about what others say but it's like my brother releases this fire in me that I don't want to release. I told him stop to act bossy but at the same time I was completely loosing it. I want to accept myself for who I am but the anger just feels like I can't control it so good anymore. Normally I could deal with my own problems, but now I feel like I need a therapist or at least someone to talk and understand me.

    Please, help me!

  • Is my exercising schedule good enough for parkour?

Hello guys. I recently thought about staying fit during the summer and on. I wanted to start moving instead of laying down. I used to do fencing for 3 years but I stopped. From today I started a training schedule I made to achieve the condition to start parkour. Each week there's one thing different.

1 week I do 10 rounds of: 15 seconds sprinting(full speed) and stop for 30 seconds.

    2nd week I do 2 rounds of each of these with 30 seconds break: 10 squats, 10 push-ups, 10 leg lifts and 10 pull-ups(If I can't I'll try my best to do 5).

I am repeating these 2 types of exercises for 4 weeks. Each week one of them(and by week I mean daily). On the 5th week(which would be around 13th of July) I will do the same but than I would start training some basic parkour moves. I'm mostly interested in getting healthy, getting in shape and parkour(not free-running, I'm not interested in back flips and other sorts of tricks).

Is the schedule I made average guys? Or should I add more to it? Please give me your honest opinion. Thanks!

  • Do you guys know some stores that includes the paranormal and spirituality in Miami?

Hello guys. I was wondering if some of you know about any store in Miami that has ghost hunting equipments or metaphysical and new age books, tools ect. I am going to Miami in a few weeks and I'll be staying close to Dolphin Mall. Is there a possibility of one of those stores to be close to that area?

  • How do you convince strict parents to let you go busking?

I'm a ukulele player and I've trained for almost a year now to play and sing. I really want to go out there in the streets and busk. But I have a really strict mother(I don't live with my father) and grandparents and they're always over-protective saying this and that can happen. Telling them I want to go busking would sound even crazier because I'm going on the streets on my own and they think something would happen. I really want to stand up to them like regular teens would(I'm 15 btw, 16 in a few months). If your parents were like this, how did you convince them to go on your own in the streets?

  • Religions: Why do SOME religious people force it down on others' throat?

I have no problem with religions or any other forms of spirituality but what I don't get is why does some religious people want to force their religions on others. Don't they ever think about everyone practicing/believing their own faith and staying in peace? There are some atheists like this as well. I believe every spiritual, religious or what so ever kind of group has at least one negative person. So the question is why.

  • Why do Christians fear and hate the occult?

The question says it all. Atheists are free to answer as well just stay nice :).

So what is it SOME christian fear(I didn't say all of them) about occultism: witchcraft, mediumship, necromancy divination... You are telling me all of those lead to demonic possession and a horrible sin commited and the Lord would smite me? A few points out from myself now:

Some occultists aren't even exactly religious at all, but spiritual. So most of them doesn't believe in any Satan(includes me).

Occultists have never done anything bad to any christian out there(some black magicians do use sacrifices but most of us just practice on our own. I am not a black magician, I am an occultist studying and performing positive forms of witchcraft and I study the paranormal, other religions and mythologies, psychic phenomenon ect.).

Another point I find really important: We don't judge others nor seek out discussions that may even lead to war. We respect people for who they are.

Out of EVERY religion and even non-religious/spiritual people I know there is someone good-hearted like this. So I'm sorry for all of those who are like this, but I'm pointing it out to the opposite type of christians.

_in which the element occurs in any phase.

    _where the element is usual.

    _who discovered the element.

    _melting point and boiling point.

_two applications of the element (which is used).

    _health effects of the element.

    _environmental impact of the element.

I know it looks confusing. It's because it's originally in dutch but I used google translate to translate it. I hope you can help. Thanks!

  • Can you record EVP with a regular phone?

Just wanted to ask if I could use my blackberry bold to do EVP sessions. I will by a digital recorder later though. And please don't give me that 'they are demons' and other religious crap or that they are not real because I know and proved myself that they are. No arguments either from skeptics because I know it won't help in anyway other then calling me crazy or some sort.

I just wanna hear this from people who had success with EVPs.

  • Atheists, why do some of you still say "Oh god."?

I'm not a complete religious person nor a complete skeptic. So I would respect anyone AS LONG AS YOU STAY NICE. But I was wondering why some atheists say "Oh god." when they don't believe in god? It's just weird so I wanted to ask.

  • If reiki is fake...?

How could so many people be healed from it? And not just some illness, but somethings that were thought to be completely incurable. A reiki healer healed someone with cancer... Do you think it was all a trick? Even though the person never knew the healer? After about 2 months of these therapies the person's cancer cells began to die. And I was there. So what is it? Clever therapies or JUST static electricity doing these incredible healings? I think skeptics will mostly say yes.

  • Teens: How did you convince your mother to let you start yoga?

If there are any teens out there who do yoga, please read and answer. If not, anyone's welcome to answer. My mother likes me to stay healthy. I used to do fencing for 3 years and quit last week. I am much more interested in yoga now. I already did qigong ones when there was a workshop and by the feeling of it I felt like she didn't like it that well. When I asked her if she'd let me start yoga she said she would think about it but with a little disgusted tone. She is a Christian but she is really ok with yoga and such other stuff. But I don't get it why she doesn't like me getting involve in this. I know what I am doing and personally she thinks it's ok too but mostly thinks that I should do things of boys of my age instead of doing grown up things. I hate that fact. The class I told her about was even a class for teenagers 13+ only. How did you convince your parents to let you start on your yoga journey? How do you suggest me to do it. Thanks for your answer since now :)

  • Why don't both groups attend to their own businesses(believers and atheists)?

I am fine with both. I personally believe in a balance between skepticism and belief and not either full skepticism or full belief. Atheists are mad because of how some religious people force with their religion on everyone. Yet they force atheism on others as well. So I don't see how it helps being on one side alone because you would just keep frustrating about one thing or the other. So why don't both the religious people and atheists who are like this just leave people alone and mind their own businesses??

  • Why do YOU think the occult is 'evil'?

I know there are dozens of people out there who fear occultists. Now stand still and ask yourself: Why do you think so? Is it because of their mystical hidden feeling? Is it because of your religion? Why not explore for your own instead of blindly following opinions of others. I did and still do occult practices with no negative experience not even once! I believe negative things happen with those with bad ideas about it and those who simply just want to 'test' it. If you search about it yourself you'll realize it's not evil at all. Surely it may have it's mystical feeling to it and mysterious happenings to it but the word occult means: knowledge of the hidden or knowledge of the paranormal. If you're serious about it you might even begin to enjoy it!

I believe in good and negative entities. I also believe in a supreme being but non of the religious versions. My closest religions are buddhism and new age(although I don't consider them a religion). Worshiping the devil or satan? Never believed in any satan. Only negative entities or demons(daemons). Even most satanists don't actually believe in satan(LaVey satanists for example). The ones who do thinks he's a positive entity. But I don't know much about satanism, but just to put it clear that I don't think any religion is evil. I find it selfish that people who call themselves 'religious' these days bombard others from different culture and religion. So why is the occult 'evil' in your point of view?
