  • career/calling in my chart?

I just feel really directionless right now in terms of career because I have taken the "arts path" and there isn't much stability there. I was just wondering if someone can see any particular tendencies in my chart for a career because to me it just looks confusing at this point?

    Hope you can help? :)

  • why do my charts always say "somethin may have happened to you during childhood"?? (12th house)?

i have sun in the 12th house and pluto in the 4th house and i always read up on them something vague like this:

"You may have had an extremely painful experience when you were very young. If so, you may think it was a punishment for something that you did, and you may be afraid that it will happen again. In fact, whatever happened was an accident for which nobody is to blame. You are not a bad person, and there is no reason why it should happen again."(astro.com)

I don't understand this because i don't think anything horrible ever happened to me as a child. can somebody explain this please?

  • mars in gemini; how to concentrate my ambitions?

I have a fixed-dominant chart which i think is why i want to get things done and finish my projects. however, I think it is my mars in gemini which makes it almost impossible for me to finish anything because i tend to have fifty projects going at the same time and i'm always drawn to new things. Yet, I'm very ambitious and determined and i want to finish something.. which is why i'm extremely frustrated with myself. Is it because of my mars in gemini? Any advice on how to concentrate my energies??

  • it's been three days, why hasn't he called?

I went out with this guy the other night. We had a good time. He kept finding any excuse to touch me so i don't think he found me repulsive. Yet, he didn't kiss me good night although he looked like he wanted to when he hugged me. I was disappointed because we had kissed once before. Now it's been three days and he hasn't called or texted. I don't know if I was just sending the wrong signals because i'm shy and maybe he thought i wasn't that into him or do you think he just wasn't that into me? also, he said he'd like to go out again, I don't get it. what am i supposed to do with all this new lingerie, i'm pissed off.

  • good astronomy books?

I've wanted to buy a basic book on astronomy for quite a while now but I don't know which one to get. I'm not exactly into science or anything but I like reading about space -galaxies and nebulae and stuff like that and would like to understand it all a bit better. I would also like a book with large pictures and "profiles" or something about different constellations etc that would be easy to look up. Any recommendations?

    Thanks for your help!

  • did the tent with peacocks at the quidditch world cup belong to the malfoys?

It says in goblet of fire that in the quidditch world cup there was a fancy tent with peacocks strutting outside it. The malfoy manor had peacocks so could the tent have been owned by the malfoys?

  • why is everyone writing a series?

I feel like suddenly there are all these writers who plan these series of books that go on and on and on. Has it always been like this or is it just the aftermath of Harry Potter's success?

While I understand how some stories are epic and some stories demand several books but there are also those other stories that just make you think that the author could have squeezed it into a single book.

What do you think about series of books and does it ever bore you that some of them just never seem to end?

  • writing in third person subjective about a psychotic person without exposing they're psychotic?

Okay. So I have a problem. I have been struggling with this one character in my novel for some time. He needs to be in the story but his identity is... obscure. He is this mentor/sidekick type and most of his interactions are with my main character and none of his other interactions really matter so I've been thinking of changing him to be the product of my main character's imagination. Would it be possible to do this in third person without exposing the fact that she is psychotic? I know an unreliable first person narrator would be the most logical choice but the psychosis is not the main thing in my novel and it is many-layered and confusing already. I have another character with a third person pov in my novel but his povs are rare and usually describe situations where he is alone or alone with the main character(without her imaginary friend). So do you think it would be impossible for me to write this in third person subjective?

I'm about halfway through my first draft and what I've written so far just seems to scream for this to happen.

  • does your writing make you lose sleep?

I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this? I often get so excited about a story that I write all through the night or sometimes(although I've gone to bed late as I usually do) I wake up ridiculously early, possessed by new energy to write. Like this morning, I woke up and I was immediately aching to get to my laptop to write down something.

So, do you guys lose sleep when you have a writing project going on and how do you deal with it?

  • famous rejections; do publishers actually know anything?

    http://www.onehundredrejections.com/

I just came across this site and it's mind-boggling how many famous famous works and best sellers have been rejected repeatedly by publishers before they saw the light of day. While, it's all very encouraging, I can't help but think; do publishers actually know anything about, well, anything?

What do you think? Is it just about finding the right people to love your book or are publishers often blind to a writer's brilliance?

  • writers: how do you keep yourself focused on one story at a time?

When you're writing your novel or some other "big" writing project that you have decided to devote your time to, how do you keep yourself from not getting distracted when other separate ideas come to you?

I'm writing about a million things at once although I have one main writing project. It seems like I'd finish my novel much faster if only I could keep all these other ideas from taking over my imagination. Yet, I'm impatient to write them too.

So, how do you do it? Or are you like me, writing a dozen things at the same time?

  • A good FREE writing software, other than Word?

I don't have Word, and I don't really even like it tbh. I've been using celtx for my writing(because I write a lot of scripts but it's rubbish for novel writing), although I usually format them later with Word on my university's computers but that's beside the point: what I need is a software that is free, easy to use and can divide chapters into different sections and allows you to write notes without too much confusion. I'm sick of having all the stuff for my novel cluttered in different files. I need organisation!

I downloaded Scrivener free trial but it is only a trial and then you have to pay for it and as a unemployed student I can't really afford it. Also, it doesn't support british english.

    Any help? Thanks :)

  • What makes a brilliant short story?

Is there any kind of guidelines on what makes a great short story, structure wise? Do you think it has to have some kind of major conflict in it?

I feel like I've been working on my short story forever now and keep editing it brutally each time.

How do you make a short story one consistent piece that does not make you think "was that it?"
