  • why don't congress just add in a new tax bracket of a million vs raising taxes at 1/4 of million?

    i don't know how to ask cnn, or fox news or whoever.

    but adding in another tax bracket for the supper rich is better

    than raising taxes of mere $250 grand a year.

    cost of living is moving up, period.

    so adding new tax bracket on te super rich.

    obama made 5 millions before he became president

    and still is, makiing 5 millions a year. probably the help of fanny mae, freddie mac.

    anyway, that is a logical step to do, just create a new higher tax bracket

    of 40%, close loopholes

    give greater tax credit to parent sending kids to school, like i am.

    better yet, free college for parent of disablity period.

    as well them under 60 grand or 90 grand a year, we're about 48 grand.

    the future is the students in college and junior high now.

    and soon coming out of military, they need jobs too.

    we need to adopt more immgraents to pay for s.s. federal and state taxes

    due to, 70 million retiring babyboomer and mere 48 million working class

    because of the abotted of 50=60 millions adults, we're short on tax payers!!

  • i have 87 vortec motor was a roller cam, is stock type cam ok? lose power?

    a friend of mine owes me $$$$

    and he buidling me a motor.

    i was very happy to get a roller cam motor. 484 lift, vorec heads

    now, he cutting corners.

    and now 420 on intake, 454 on exhaust...non roller cam.

    since this motor was design for massive air flow.

    going back to bump stick cam, vs roller cam.

    and it is a 350 motor, with vortec heads

    so i'm wondering, will port and valves all to TOO BIG

    for the little cam, which i think is an RV cam, name brand is engle.

    and he got a 650 double pumper on it, .so i think that would be overkill

    as well, since the cam is shorter lift..which i think...would also

    have shorter duration, or early duration to make torque the focus, vs max HP

    so, long tube headers is a waste of time as well, being what i am assuming an RV cam, with short lift, vs almost 1/2 lift of both valve..no way is thing going to be a 400HP motor, with little bump of 420..454 lift..right?

    i can see, radical HP, with 484 lift..

    and link or knowledge of regular cam is better than roller cam

    i think he just saving 150 bucks with wrong cam/lifters

    and all the rest 650cfm carb, long tube, vortec heads is a waste, having an RV cam, in my opinion.

    so i like another chevy builder wisdom, advice.

  • what size of 4bbl cfm sizing that is best for a chevy 350,of vortec heads, headers roller cam of286, 471 lift?

    it is a freshly rebuilt motor 10.1 flat top pistons thereabout. with turbo 350 trany, stock torque convertor, plan to get tranny cooler on it. so not sure, 600 is best on 302, 305, so wondering 650cfm or 750cfm is better.or 700cfm which brand name, seriies avs of elderbrok or whatever of holley series of holly, any math or linke of carb info, detail, is useful, i'm in st.louis, mo, so cat convertor i'll eventually need to buy, hoping there is such thing of 4in cat convertor. or get gutted 3" cat somewhere, and 3" muffler tailpipe, would like larger mid pipe or larger cat convertitl anyway..you guys are wiser than me.

    thanks for your input, links, carb infor, so many series of carbs on ebay, electic choke i would want logically.

  • are these 350 or 305 head 1402 2601 block firing order are same, orange motor.?

    tpi intake that is side mounting the heads.

    i have no TPI injectors, wiring..planning to pull it for rebuilt 350

    but curious of what value of these heads? of it valve size, chamber size

    what size motor are they for 305 or 350

    i was told you can't put 350 heads on 305..as well.

    so..hoping to get some clue and facts about these heads to junk

    or they are good for raising compression? waht their valve sizes as well.

    can you tell me what year, 305, 350, cc size low 60cc or high 80cc

    seem to be wider valve covers, then a pair of other sbc valve covers i have.

    freind said they are junk, yet, he want them when he swap in a 350 for me.

    i was told the block is old years 305.

  • sbc heads, what the difference of 196 heads vs vortec heads, in CC and valve sizes, whatever else?

    frined rebuilding an 87 350 truck motor for me, yet, he does lie alot.

    i tink 4bbl intake bolt pattern are different, he has the old 4bbl intake to put onto this 350, vs buying vortec 4bbl intake that fit properly, but my question is, am i losing anything in swapping to older heads? he has other 400 and 327 heads as well, the motor is a roller cam, 280ish duration under 1/2 lift, so it will have slight lope, which i want. the 87 t/a was 305 tbi, no exhaust systme,radiator,accessories, ct where do i go to buy new throttle cable for carb? what year Distributor to get? if that matter, going to be stock sbc distributor vacumn advance setup. i bought 87 t/a without motor/tranny,exhaust,great paint, body interior. thanks.for input about heads info..my other red 85 t/a is a project as well. is there website to decode the heads, block? thanks for sending that as well.

    red t/a is disassembled TPI on a TBI car, no wiring harness found. have computer, no injectors on the fuel rails neither.

  • is a 350 tbi better hp, torque than 305tpi?

    i bought a project t/a with 305 tbi, sporting tpi, no computer wiring, no injectors, stock tbi fuel pump.

    so thinking cost effectively, i believe a fellow want my 305TPI and give me a 350tbi.

    yet, all sbc look alike, so any help of facts, would be helpful hints. like 350 exhaust manifold would be bigger than 305 exhaust manifolds right? is there a common set of numbers somewhere on intake or heads or where on the block or heads or intake or exhaust manifolds if say on there..

  • how to get more HP out of 305, is there also website of what heads,roller cam, intake carb size for 305 to 400?

    i have 2 project 80's trans am, the red 85 has 305 tpi heads, on tbi car

    the 87 blue t/a has no motor tranny, so thinking of going for 400 or 350.

    can 350 TPI heads fit OK..on 305 motor? that is what on the red t/a.

    OH.which is number one cylinder, i need to drop in distributor..which way does distributor turns? counter clockwise or clockwise, so i can know, which way to hand crank the crank on this 305

    what are the firing order as well..so i'm putting distributor in right, vs 180 off..thanks. looking for website to study just on the motor, i know about thirdgen.com for firebird, but looking for deeper study on chevy motors, heads, cam, headers, whatever i'm a ford guy, ready to learn something new.

  • will i have problem with e7 302 heads on 78 block? can i use stock 78 intake or? head angles are differen so?

    i would need a special 4bbl intake for Fuel Injected heads...so on the otherr side..the headers.

    my 78 302 already has headers, will they be a straight bolt on, or i have to change headers?

    i heard the newer factory heads are larger valves on exhaust side, with 69cc, yet, my 78 heads are

    also 69 cc, so basically getting better breathing, beyond that, i wondered more HP, torgue, or just more HP on the higher end of the RPM..and nothing at 2000 RPM, hwy cruise.speed. thanks.

    i also have a 48cc heads, with larger valves, but exhaust port are stock 1 in square hole.wondering what it cost to port it out to 1=1/2 like headers are, that large...thanks. i have 2 king cobra stock 302.with automatic.both with 2bbl.

  • 85 t/a with tpi heads, is there 4bbl intake for them? how to find out 305 or 350ci?

    i have a torn apart project 85 t/a believe to be 305 tbi, but motor and heads look replaced. the Tpi IS Disassembled, as well no exhaust manifolds. so how do i decode this motor and heads. to be 305, or 305 ho, or 350, i never work on GM, nor fuel injected anything. heads are rebuilt i was told.

    i might be getting a 74 350, and he don't know anything about the motor, and i question the compression ratio of them days, i like to go 4bbl set up and like to get wisdom. use the tpi heads on the older 350 do=able? yet, about the 4bbl intake, just any fit?

    since i don't have exhaust manifolds on the car, nor head pipes there..so suggestion of affordable headers, seen a bunch on ebay. varies of stainless steel shorty..to long length.

    did the GTA firebird came with tri y headers? where to buy aftermarket tri y headers? if such exist. might misunderstood..thanks.

    any website to build stronger 305, as well 350...how to decode sbc, heads, ect.

    never own a chevy or a GM.

    so..pretty green i am..47k on motor..rebuilt heads..stock exhaust,

    intake is off the motor..so..bebating..just bolt on the TBI. or a TPI..for i really don't know if TBI existed in 85.

    car isn't delivered..so not sure.

    but..thirdgeneration.com..or something like that..only shown 4bbl and TPI exxted in 1986.

    in 84 only 4bbl carbs.

    i was told original motor..

    but..i hadn't seen the intake in the car, full of lots of parts..no buckets or backseat.

    and study quite a few 305 option.through the years..of firebird/trans am,

    and i just don't see..TBI...yet..title said TBI. yet could be typo..hope so.

    the TPI showed 215HP motor.

    carb motor..were lower in power.

    which i thought was odd.

    and exploring the site..there were varees of camshaft too.

    some with 400 lifts.114

    some with 385 lifts..117

    one had 109.

    anyway.

    just basic knowledge.

    which way to go.

    how to figure out..cam i got in there.

    will do a compression check..i see 84 older 8.7 or so.

    85 compression ratio of 9.5.

    86 and newer had 9.3

    any basic engine code of heads..to tell me..what kind of heads i got as well?

  • educate me! 78 overhaul 302, i have pair of 1963 289 heads 351w valves, has no screw in studs/rockers?

    so..wondering to swap stock rockers off the 78, heads, yet, i have to buy the screwed in studs.

    but, i do see on craigslist of roller 3/8 sbf pdm? rockers 1.6. for $100.00 said to ran 5000 miles on it.

    WILL I have any potential problems? swapping the heads..the 78 motor has stock dish pistons.

    so i assume..no problem with heads swap..but..wondering on the valves opening clearnace under the heads. with these roller, higher lift rockers..it has been decades since i've read on update 302..30 years elapse..since last time..pull heads off my 289 30 years ago.

    anyway..i do wonder, how much increase of LIFT i gete from swapping in 1.6 rockers.

    vs buying stock rockers..or swap from 78 302.heads.

    the 302..has stock manifolds.and stock rebuilt 2bbl.

    .i already got 4bbl intake, and 750cfm elderbock..probably has trade or sell next spring/summer...for smaller 600-650 cfm.

    the 63 heads came off of highly modify 302.of ?400-450HP..

    the guy gone to ARP..heads.....stock 78 302.produce 140bhp.

    so, i got a ways to go..to get 250=300 Hp.which is fine..i do like mpg and simpleness.

    the 78 car is a project 78 king cobra mustang 2..so it has a ways to go..to be street ready.

    so gathering parts..when affordable..yet..just need wisdom..of what overkill..750cfm probably is.

    seller said..there are kits to modify carb to be smaller..yet..i see 600 cfm on craigslst for 100=125.

    not sure..what jet kit cost...nor how much screw in studs cost..i doubt i'll need pushrod plates for stock came..having 1.6 rockers..just doing shortcut..since i'm on disablity..i got a budget to keep.

    from what i can find, the 77 heads are 69CC

    and i'm wondering what the big deal of 5.0 HO heads?

    i assumed it would bolt up, and intake will matchup,

    and what is the CC of the 302 HO..i don't know what year the heads are.

    so...give me all info of 82? HO..to. fuel injected heads? 94.302.

    and, would i have a problem of any sort?

    this is a project mustang II, nothing work inside the car, not the horn, wiper, heater fan, emergency flasher.

    great body, it been sitting for 10 years.

    so not sure, where to look or what to replace.

    yet when i touch soliniod of the starter side.

    power did go..and spin motor.

    but no power to ignition switch, or anything inside.
