  • Should I prebook or not in Bangkok for summer trip?

    Hi guys,

I am going to Bangkok in July and will be staying for about 2 months. I went to Thailand about 5 years ago and I stayed in that region for about 7 months so I have some experience. I have not been for a while so I was hoping some people may have some advice. When I went before it was from October to May so I do not know what it is like in summer.

Should I pre-book hotels in Bangkok or is it fairly easy to get accommodation even in summer? I never booked any rooms at all for the whole trip last time and didn't have much of a problem. The reason I am not sure about this now is because I am going in summer... and also that was 5 years ago that I went.

Another option was to book a hotel for the first couple of weeks and then sort any further hotels or apartments out when I get there. Any advice?

  • If something is beyond your comprehension is it rational to dismiss it as non-existent?

Another way of putting it is:

If something is not within the bubble of existence that you have created for yourself does that mean that, logically, nothing else exists outside the bubble?

By “bubble” of existence I am referring to the way in which we are all (more or less) individual people with our individual perceptions. Unless you were to inhabit another person’s body then all of the truth that you have gained about the world is merely your own. I would imagine that we can mostly all agree on that.

Many people question that which seems to be beyond comprehension. I am not asking you whether you believe that that is a “good” human trait or not. Preferably just answer the question (because in reality both questions are the same- just worded differently). Let us assume for the time being that you are in fact rational.

This is not a competition of wit.

It can be considered an impartial question. There is no need to question my motives for asking. If you have difficulty in answering the questions feel free to ask.

  • Do you believe in the concept that our free will is eternal and exists even after the death of our body?

Or rather (to expand the question a little bit because of the lack of available space!):

Do you (or could you) believe in the concept that our free will is eternal and exists even after our physical body has died?

Many people believe that existence is eternal and that includes religious people, non-religious people, atheists, theists and myself. There are many reasons why people believe in eternity but I am not interested in proof at this very time. I am mainly interested in seeing peoples view on the main question that I am posing. If you don't believe in eternity or free will then you may as well leave this question alone.

Feel free to expand on your concepts. Maybe you believe in eternal reincarnations; an endless cycle of rebirths and deaths. Maybe you believe that our true identity is a single consciousness (universal mind/ God) that binds us all and that ego (individuality) is the only thing that blinds us from the truth of the universe. Maybe you believe that the universe is a chaotic free-for-all that is completely boundless and disorganized. Just go ahead and say what you think.

There cannot really be a best answer to the question as such but I will award it using as much discretion as I possibly can or I may just leave it to votes.
