  • My mom has Alzheimers and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way we could control her incoming and outgoing calls.?

My mom is in the middle stages of Alzheimers so she can't drive anymore but still has her cell phone.  The problem is she keeps calling and canceling her medicare insurance.  Is there something we can do to control her incoming or outgoing calls?  Her service provider is AT&T.  We have power of attorney but not sure if AT&T will take it.  Just ideas and thoughts would be great

  • Is your employer required to pay you for after hours functions?

My boss expects me and another co-worker to attend functions with her after hours.  There is a General Contractor's BBQ every year and a GC salsa taste off every year just to name two of the big ones.  If she makes these functions mandatory shouldn't she be required to pay us?  We spend most of our day at these things and I've been doing it for 8 years without pay.

It's coming up now because I was stuck at home for a week during the ice storm here in Texas and she refuses to pay me unless I use my vacation time.  I know that she doesn't have to pay me.  I get that so let's not go there.  I want to know about my rights regarding after hours functions.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Should I be the one who is upset or is my boss the one who should be upset?

So...I have been waiting for weeks to get a call from the vascular surgeon regarding my CT Scan results and he finally calls me at 8:00am in the morning n Wednesday to tell me that I need two stents put in due to blockage.  He gives me two dates and I pick the one I think will be best for work.  He also assures me that if I have the surgery on Thursday I should be okay to return to work on Monday.  It's really pretty doubtful that I am going back that soon but not totally important.

I get to work shortly after my virtual appointment and inform my boss of the surgery and she loses it because we have a bid the following week and I will probably miss it (commercial construction).  She says that I should have discussed the dates with her before I scheduled the surgery so she could plan around it.  My response, of course, was anger to which I said that my health is more important than a bid on bid day especially considering we have more jobs on our plate than we have ever had in the eight years I've been with the company.

Honestly, I'm a little hurt by it but mostly pissed.  I really have worked hard and done a lot for this company and NEVER call in sick...ever.

Your thoughts?  Should my boss me upset or should I?  What would you do in my place?

  • Can seem to lose weight...what should I do?

I am 48 years old and joined the gym about 6 weeks ago. I have a personal trainer so I get a great work out and plenty of cardio. Of course since I am exercising I have a healthy diet as well with low carbs, lots of veggies, chicken, fish, etc.

The first two weeks I lost 3 pounds and was soo excited but I am now just stuck on the same weight. What's going on and what can I do to get this unwanted fat off my body!!! I'm not really that overweight. Need to lose 30 lbs or so.
