  • How do you change yarn colour and incorporate another while knitting mid row?

I have just started learning to knit and have come across a problem that I am so stumped on... As it says in the title, I am not sure how to add another colour. The book that I am learning from gives instructions, but I am having so much trouble following, and haven't been able to find any info on it. What the book says; 'Follow these instructions to change yarn colour and incorporate the blue diamond'. It's 14 stitches in that the first stitch is done. I have tried to do this square before and the heart in it was tight and looked really bad.

I know I'm jumping alot here, but if anyone can help me to sort of understand what to do, please. I have another whole heap to do, and it's getting really frustrating..

  • chair jumping child?

I was just having a look at some answers to someones question about spanking.

My daughter is 20m old and she is an angel.. when she is not being a devil! Both hubby and I are having trouble with her climbing up on chairs and jumping on them, rocking them to the point of almost falling off. In fact two times she has. With everything else we tell her no and she usually leaves things alone, but with this, she goes balls and all. We take her off, telling her sternly no. And as a last resort, she gets a smack. It's not a hard one, just enough to let her know that it's wrong, thens she stops. We really don't like smacking, but nothing else works... no exaggeration! We have tried everything. Ignoring does to a point, but I don't want her to think that it's ok if mummy isn't looking, plus I'd never forgive myself if anything were to happen to her from falling off. I am just so worried that she is going to hurt herself badly.

  • Hate to love or love to hate???

My in-laws are driving me crazy. it feels like they twist what I say. Example: my SIL was borrowing a vcr from us, and as per usual, broke it or threw it out, so she had to replace it. She rang me during the week to let me know that she replaced it. I said that (because I work weekends) that I would let hubby know and that he might, MIGHT, be around on the weekend to pick it up. I didn't confirm that he would. It was a definate YES, he would, just he might.

My BIL just called my husband and had a go at him because I said that he would be around yesterday to pick it up.

Am I blowing things out of proportion? It's just really frustrating becuase this always happens. It's now gotten to the point that I just tell them to bypass me and go straight to hubby. I don't want to be like this with inlaws, but it is driving me crazy!!! and I have no idea what to do...

  • Eating while pregnant?

I'm 31 weeks pregnant. I'm 66kg, have put on about 12kg the time I've been preggers and I'm wondering is this a healthy gain? I was almost underweight when I started and then kinda went crazy, eating everything. I have since (only in the past few weeks though) started eating properly again, not 3 large meals, but try to balance if I have a large meal for lunch then a smaller one for tea and vice versa. Am I just letting hormones get the best of me? or going loopy? lol

    Thanks = )

  • Pain and swelling after extraction?

I had a back molar removed about 4 days ago and have noticed that the outside of my gum above near where it was extracted is still swollen (it was the last molar on the right side up top). The rest of my mouth is ok, but this area is sore and tender. It feels like a abcess almost, or a lump, and I occasionally get pain shooting down my cheek. I'm not sure if this is normal or if I have an infection... Do anyone have any ideas? I'm just curious and won't get to the dentist till tomorrow, plus it's a little worrying as I can't have antibiotics for it as I'm 31 weeks pregnant. Thanks :D

  • Dealing with pains?

I work in a medical centre as a receptionist. I cannot dictate to the drs how long their appointments have to be, nor can I book more people in if the drs are over booked. Yet everyone seems to think that all i do is sit at my computer and do nothing. I get abused, sworn at and I have to sit here and take it with a smile on my face. Why is it that people are like this? If I could help I would, but sometime nothing can be done. I love my job, and the people I meet, but there is that one person that makes me think about leaving because I am just sick of it.....

  • Not a question, just a comment on kids?

What is happening today with Kids? Just reading some of the questions, they can't even seem to type a complete proper sentence. I can understand talking and cutting words, but typing them too. Is it just me... maybe I'm a little too old fashioned.....?

  • Im 12 weeks pregnant.?

I'm only 12wks and have already put on 4-5 kg (I think) . I was pretty small to begin with, but I'm just worried that I'm eating way too much... is this an unhealthy gain considering Im pregnant (duh lol). I know it differs for everyone, but I'm curious. This is my second and the first was, again, very different... I know im being paranoid, but this is the one thing that I cant get off my mind...

  • Missing him..?

My hubby is in the defence and we have just moved. We have a 14 month old and been together for 3 years. In those 3 years he has been away numerous times, but this time seems to be the hardest... I don't know why and it's driving me crazy. I just want him to come home (and I'm not clingy either, I like my space). I don't know what to do in my spare time... any one have any ideas? It's hard with a little one that misses her daddy..

  • Help with a barking dog....?

I have a Siberian Husky who is 2.5 years, so still a pup. My hubby and I have just moved onto an acre from a really small place and Tzar starts barking first thing in the morning, like 430am. We have tried feeding him at night, in the morning, and once 3 times a day just to see if it helped and it hasn't. He is properly exercised and isn't ignored and I don't know what to do. It's driving us and the neighbours crazy... any suggestions. I don't know what to do anymore!!!!

  • Second child, not sure on something...?

This is my second child. I'm only a few months into it, and I feel like this is my first pregnancy. My first was rocky, complications and whatnot, but other than that, it was smooth sailing. I never had any cravings or any big weight gain... it was great. This one on the other hand, I am only 8 weeks into it and I seem to be always hungry. I've never had a big appetite, but so early on I've already started gaining and I'm eating like there's no tomorrow. I mean hungry to the point of pain. Could it be that I am hungry or covering for sickness. As I said, just really unsure because it's so so different... has anyone done the same thing?

  • Typical Family probs..?

When I first got together with my husband, his family were ... ok to me. Or so I thought... I've been with hubby for two years, love him to death and get along ok with his sister and brother (worked bloody hard to get where I am). His mother... well, I want her to like me, to actually like me, but I am finding it hard to take anything she says to me seriously. I am not exaggerating this, his mother is the most 2 faced person that I have ever met. She says one thing to your face, and says the complete opposite behind your back... I have heard what she says about her own family members, people she is meant to love.. her own choldren... I can't imagine what she is saying about me. I have always been the kind of person to take things head on, you have a problem, tell me to my face and the same goes for me... no bull and all the rest, but have not said anything out of respect for hubby, but now it's getting harder not getting along with her. Does anyone have any ideas how to get over this??

  • Weighing yourself..?

I Know that this is going to sound strange... but does anyone know how to properly weigh themselves? I'm not talking what time of the day, or wearing what.. that's all good. I'm just a little unsure on how to stand. Do I lean forward or back. As I wear mostly high shoes (I have no height to me what-so ever...lol) when i stand flat foot, I find myself leaning off a little. I know it's a strange question and alot of people are gonna be thinking alot of things... but just wondering if anyone might be able to help...?

  • Has anyone heard of FAP (Familial Adenomatous Polyposis) and has the disease..?

I have it, found out about 7 years ago, and had an ileo-rectal anastomosis, and need to go back in for another op or two and just wondering if there is anyone else who has this, or knows anyone, as the only people that I know that have this are my family. My hubby and I are planning another baby, but I has to much trouble with the first one (painwise) and wondering if hormones can speed up the growth of polyps? (hope this isn't to confusing... it's confusing me lol) Thanks = )

  • Does anyone know if its possible for your cycle to go for 32 (or the abouts) days instead of 28?

My period was due a couple of days ago (I think) so I'm not sure if I'm late. I've never heard of cycles going this long and it seems that every month the dates are moving, not even close to the previous month.. I've talked to my doctor about this, but they can't come up with any reason why.. really just curious if it's possible...
