why do we argue about religion wouldn't discussion make more sense?
Whenever I come on here I see people saying hey you shouldn't believe in this because...or why do you believe in that?...You should be live in this because...
wouldn't it make more sense to have an open discussion about our beliefs and where we disagree with one another?
Or is this a dream that wont come true?
27 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agodo you feel the general population doesn't understand the lgbt community?
either doesn't understand or they have misconceptions (what are they?)

the severity shouldn't matter a hate crime is a hate crime right

2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you have more problems with "the Church" or Jesus?
meaning do you get more frustrated with the institution of the church or Jesus?
(or christians)
25 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agohow many of you feel prop 8 passed because of the church?
do you think the church is the main reason prop 8 passed, what do you think the biggest misconception Christians have of you?
what do you think of this? I wrote it about a week ago
so if any of you have been near a tv since the election you have heard about prop 8. you have heard that it passed, you probably also heard that churches paid a lot of money to campaign for proposition 8.
This is what I think. I think that the CHURCH is spending too much time trying to point fingers and try to tell people how to live, when the parts of the body should be more concerned about themselves.
At one point Jesus is asked, trying to be tricked, which law is the greatest of all laws, Jesus responds by saying to love God with all of your heart, mind, body and sould and to love your neighbor as yourself.
so the homeless man that I pass on the way to the mall, the single mother that I see struggling trying to buy groceries, the family that can't keep the heat on, the team that I play on or against in softball, boot hockey and broomball, the driver that cuts me off, the dr. that doesn't know what is wrong with me, the family member that has caused me pain...whoever I am supposed to love them like they deserve to be loved because they are a child of God. It doesn't matter that they are gay or straight or black, white, legal, illegal, speak english, muslim, christian or not, I am commanded by God to love them like he does unconditionally.
There is another point in the Bible where people are focusing on others sins and forget to notice their own...and they are told to stop focusing on the other persons speckle in their eye and start focusing on the 2 X 4 in theirs. It is so easy for us to look past what is going on in our lives and focus what is going on in other peoples lives. Maybe it doesn't make us feel like crap or make us feel as bad that we don't have anything going on in our lives.
If anybody watches MSNBC one of their nightly news casters totally got it right when talking about this issue. He laid out some history, saying how back in the day slaves marriages were not recognized, because they were not recognized as people. And back during the segrigation era blacks couldn't marry whites it was against the law. So Obama wouldn't be here if those laws were still around (hypothetically).
Think about how it would make you feel if you couldn't marry the person you love. How it would feel knowing the one you love with your whole heart was in the hospital and you couldn't see them because you were not "married". Even though you had spent 40 years together it didn't matter because you didn't have a piece of paper by the government.
When I have seen the protesters in the streets, in whichever city I could see Jesus right there with them. Jesus hung out with all of the people that were social outcasts. Jesus would be loving on these people and be listening to them and letting them know that God loves them for them...that you don't have to be straight, white, middle class or any other classification to be part of the kingdom, you just have to be willing to come.
Think of the older brother in the parable of the prodigal son, he was pissed that his brother got this huge celebration upon returning. But he was pissed because he was seeing through the laws and the ethics of the times - he didn't see the genuine beauty of his father welcoming his brother home no questions asked. We need to stop looking through the grid of laws, ethics, expectations and just love people for who they are. homeless, alcoholic, abusive, gay, transgender, doesn't matter in the end they are all chidren of God.
5 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agois anybody else frustrated that every Democrat keeps looking to the past?
the only way this nation is going to get anywhere is if we look forward and not look to the past. Yes, Bush sucked but that doesn't mean you vote in somebody who has a questionable friendship base, sat in the church of a radical, is going to spend 1 trillion dollars, and is going to hurt America more than help it. Yes he sure can talk a big game, but he hasn't proved himself at all...and I don't know about you I don't want his "testing time" to be when he is the president.

23 AnswersElections1 decade agoare there people who were voting for Obama, but no longer are?
I'm just wondering if those on here who are/were pro-obama have changed their mind or are changing their mind due to things that have been coming up in the past couple weeks.
32 AnswersElections1 decade agoIf you vote early, but die before election day?
If you vote early but die before election day does your vote still count? Because if I voted on the 4th and died on the 5th or 6th it wouldn't matter because election day is over.
Or doesn't it matter because your vote is counted the day you vote?
2 AnswersElections1 decade agohave any of you read the book "unchristian"?

2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoare we going to get duped again?
meaning when you look at Pres. Bush you know that there is more going on or that he isn't telling the whole truth - at least that is how I feel...His little smirk gets me.
Now we have Obama and he is the same way, he can talk and talk and talk and talk but that doesn't mean he is getting anywhere or making sense of the situation. He has the same cunning smile that Bush has.
I'm just wondering if you think we are going to get duped again

17 AnswersElections1 decade agowhat do you think of this view of Obama's?
Stop Obama on... Abortion
In 2002, as an Illinois legislator, Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies that survived late-term abortions. In short, Obama is ok with abortions of all kinds. And, in the event a baby survives an abortion, he is cool with letting the baby sit in a room by itself while it dies.
10 AnswersElections1 decade agoif we started to cross party lines would things be different?
I wonder why we see things so cut and dry, Democrat v. republican, pro-life v. pro choice, black v. white, old v. young, blue collar v. white collar...and so on.
If we started to be open to view things how the other did or listen to the other side would things be different or are we unwilling to even walk in the others shoes?
Half of the comments are "stupid liberals" or "dumb conservatives" why can't it just be "ignorant humans" because that is what we all are when you think about it.
2 AnswersElections1 decade agohave you read the books about Obama?
"obama nation"
and
"the case against barak obama"
also what do you think of this statement?
if a white candidate went to a church with a racist pastor who preached hatred of one race, and the elevation of another, would we not condemn, rightfully, this man as a racist? Yet, Rev. White is a racist, is a black supremecist, and a preacher of hatred, but Barak Obama gets a pass from the media? It just cannot be overlooked.
