  • Would a job fire me if?

Would a shoe store job as a sales associate fire me if I couldn't keep up with the latest fashion trends? We do have a dress code and it's to follow 3 popular fashion trends for the summer/spring season, I do have some clothes that fit into these 3, but not enough to wear different outfits 5 days a week to work... Would they fire me if I couldn't keep up?

  • Does anyone else miss those old middle/high school dates?

Those long bus/train rides together, going to the mall, movies, and just spending the whole day together on the weekends from early in the day until sunset. I really reminisce about those days before I could drive and before I graduated. The dates I usually go on now consist of picking up the girl in my car to go to dinner, lunch, or to meet at a club/bar. I guess it's part of growing up but does anyone else miss those old high school dates?

  • Does cash on delivery have an extra fee when delivered?

If someone in Lethbridge, AB were to CoD something to me and I live in Calgary, AB, would there be an extra fee for me to pay when the item arrives at my door, or is it just the specified amount?

Also could I open the package at the door step to confirm that there are actually tickets inside the envelope before paying the post man. I'm scared of just getting a random letter filled with a piece of paper and losing a lot of money.

  • How would I go about fixing up my lawn for this spring/upcoming summer?

My front lawn has not been cared for, for about 5 years and it looks like GARBAGE. 2 Years ago we had a dead tree in the middle of the lawn so we chopped it off and it has been left with a small stump about 3 inches in diameter with a crater with a diameter the size of a regular ruler around it. The grass is all dead and yellow. What would be the recommended steps to fix this lawn and make it beautiful? Thanks!

  • Why do a lot of women expect a man to pay for the meal? (Double standards)?

In the last couple decades women have been asking for more rights, better jobs, better positions, and more respect from men. They can do things just as well as us men can, they are just as smart, and just as capable, yet why do we still have these ancient rules still intact for males to be "expected" to pay for the meal? I know not all women do this, but a majority of the ones in my personal experience. Now, these aren't just spoiled brats that expect to just marry a rich husband, they are however very intelligent people, some have went to med school, others lawyers, while there were some that went to community college, but besides their background, they still expect me to pay. I however to so in order to keep with the status quo, but I wonder how females go about asking for more respect when they still hold this standard til today. Thoughts please?

  • Why is economics an arts degree and what majors/minors are best?

I've always wondered why economics is considered an "art's" degree instead of being within the business stream. Also what kind of major/minor combinations compliment each other really well, while which programs would be better as a major as opposed to a minor. For ex. Majoring in accounting with a minor in computer science as opposed to Major in Computer science and having a minor accounting? Thanks

  • Why do police abuse their power?

I mean their are only a few police officers that actually get caught in the act and get suspended from the PD, but there are also so many that go unseen. What is the point in becoming a police officer if SOME start abusing power? Don't people become police officers to protect the people? There have been so many cases of where police intentionally pepper spray pacifist protesters as well as beatings of unarmed citizens. There was also a rapper that sang a song called "**** The Police." It was a song used to protest against the police department, but it could also be seen as threatening. All in all it was just a song and people have their freedom do speak their mind don't they? But after a concert that this song was rapped at, a bunch of police officers started pushing around and provoking the rapper to hit them so they could arrest him. Although he just stayed calm and walked on through all of them, this was not okay for the police right?

  • Is putting elderly in an old folk's home a cultural thing?

This is from my personal experience, not the whole population, but since working at an old folk's home and helping out around there I realized that it is predominantly Caucasian people that put their elderly in these homes. It's typical stuff that happens at the homes, the elderly just sit around, watch tv, read, etc. The only time I really see them happy is when their grandchildren visit or actually any family visits. I come from a chinese background and ever since I was small, after my grandparents retired, they moved in with my parents and our family. Also I know for a fact that other families do this as well, is it a cultural thing? Or is it just that when people aren't as useful to them anymore, they just want to get rid of them and shoo them away?

  • Why is everyone supporting Kony 2012 because it's a trending topic?

I've watched the video AND read up about the situation and from my own perspective IC's story is full of garbage. For the past week, everyone on facebook, twitter, and youtube comments continue to support kony 2012. So many "cover the city" groups are forming as well. A lot of these people are so stupid, I don't understand why when people argue with the legitimacy of IC and the whole Joseph Kony thing, they brush off whatever you argue and say "watch this video please." It's a 30 minute documentary christ. IC is a business, they're making so much bank from this trend happening right now. I hate the fact that there have been videos from REAL Ugandans that have spoke about what really happens in Uganda. Even they have said going back to Uganda, they have not heard of Kony for YEARS. This is ridiculous that these people can continue to support Kony 2012 without knowing what's actually happening.

  • Why is everyone so hyped up for Kony 2012?

It's probably the most trending topics circulating around all the major social media sites. Yeah, I've watched the videos, read some articles, look at the sites, and I am ALL for the world coming together to stop crimes against humanity, but when you look at this that have happened in the past, why now? Why is it that everyone is coming together and spreading the message now? He's been doing this for years, the Ugandan president has been responsible for around 5.4million deaths over the past 10 years. Why is everyone starting to care now? I'm not saying this in the way of not supporting it, I'm asking why can't every single problem in our world be a trending topic, not just a hype that will die down in a few days, weeks, and months.

I recently went job hunting and applied at a TON of stores. I got called by about 4 of the stores for an interview. • How do you overcome the feeling of depression? Let's share stories.?

I never thought that my life would be flipped upside down and end up being so rough. Over the past year after graduating high school and not going to college, I've lost all my friends I used to talk to in high school, and made a stupid mistake with a girl I adored. It's been almost a year since everything went down. I've felt the feeling of loneliness ever since March of 2011. Over the past year it has just been me by myself. I have no one to talk to, and no one that really cares. I thought to myself how did I fall so low. I had no clue. This is definitely the lowest my life has gotten, and I have realized throughout this journey that I just have to keep getting tougher. Going to college in September, that is the only goal that's keeping me going right now. I'd never thought I'd say I would miss school, but I do. Any stories or advice would be appreciated!

  • What degrees will be most useful in a variety of branches and what would be degrees to avoid?

What degrees would be good for a variety of different branches? I read up about opinions on economics and there are both negatives and positives some saying its very general and needed in a company whilst at the same time it is an art degree and other degrees could "do it better."

I was thinking of going into accounting or finance with a minor in computer science, but I'm not completely sure what would ensure me a good future if I can't get my "dream job."

So what degree would be most useful in a variety of careers and what degrees are considered dead-end degrees?

  • What song is at the beginning of this video? (KOREAN)?

  • What degrees will most likely help me the most in the future?

It's that time of the year where senior is mailing out applications to universities and colleges, but I'm not too sure what undergraduate degrees would be most useful to me. As of right now, I don't really have a good idea of what I want to do as a career yet. I'm looking for a degree that would be semi-general enough to fit into various jobs. I talked to a few people and they say things such as accounting could fit into many branches of having a business career. So what are other programs that would allow me to branch out into a variety of careers?

  • Why do people hate fake plugs/tapers?

First things first, people who actually stretch their ears absolutely hate the people that take the easy way out by getting fake plugs/tapers. They call them fake/posers for doing so. Why is that so though? I thought being a poser was trying to fit into a certain group. Since when did all people with plugs become a type of clique of big eared people. People wear these "fake" plugs because they like the look of it. Why can't they? Also they may have other responsibilities in the professional world which inhibits them from getting real stretched ears as well. Other than that, why is it that people that took the time to stretch their ears hating on people that spent a few dollars and no time? Isn't it the opposite of what they are doing. They are spending so much time and money on stretching their ears to fit into a group which they think is exclusive. I believe that they are the try-hard posers. Spending all this effort in order to have perfectly stretched ears like many others do. On the other hand people that have fake plugs can at anytime switch back to normal earrings. In this case it kind of shows a lack of dedication? I don't know to be honest. I always say let people wear what they want to wear and don't judge people just because of their appearance. They could have other obligations to uphold. I am a person that wears fake plugs, I also have friends that have stretched their ears as well though. I'm not the type of person that acts like my plugs are real though. If asked, I'll say their fake and proceed to tell them about my life story about why I can't get real ones. =)
