  • Opening another bank account for someone else?

My boss wants me to open a bank account in my name where she can put money for work related expenses. She works here only with a work visa, so opening a bank account can be complicated for her. I think I might be held responsible for taxes on that money as if it were personal income. Am I correct? If she places money in a bank account in my name, I'd have no proof that it's really work money. Can someone help me figure out the financial repercussions I might have with such an arrangement please? We'd be talking about $2,000-$3000 a month.

    Thanks

    Cecilia

  • Why does a dog rush to the door and sniff whenever I go to the bathroom?

It's getting a little creepy. She's a Jack Russell and whenever I go to the bathroom, she'll rush to the closed door and start sniffing under it. I can hear her while I sit on the toilet. She's not my dog, but I do spend most of the day with her and I feed her. She stares at me very much like the dog on "Frasier" stared at him in the show. What is it she finds so fascinating?

  • What do I do with the body when my dog dies?

I have a very old dog that I expect to die naturally soon. He's 14, though he's in good shape. I live in Brooklyn, NY. What I'm I supposed to do with the body? When a person dies at home, you call an ambulance, but what about an animal?

BTW, I plan to let him live out his days naturally, so please do not suggest that I put him to sleep. He shows no signs of being in pain and is actually very active most of the time.

  • The new health care reform: Won't it make insurance even more expensive?

I don't get health insurance at work. Government plans have such low income requirements, that only illegal immigrants can qualify for it (because they don't declare their incomes), so I don't qualify. I tried to buy a private policy, but it was so expensive (even though I am perfectly healthy), that the agent himself told me it would be cheaper for me to simply pay the doctor, since I was not at any particular risk for serious illness. Now that the governement is making it mandatory for individuals to have insurance, won't it simply bring up the price of any given policy, which will make it even more prohibitive for the working class? Did I misunderstand the new law, or is there actually some kind of price control for the insurance companies?

  • Can the Tide be paid to charity rather than the church?

I've been hearing a lot about the tiding lately (giving the first 10% of your income) and it's something I'd like to know more about. It is the one subject in the bible where god asks us to test him. I've noticed that when I give, I get back, wither directly or indirectly and it's often multiplied. I'm not comfortable giving so much to the church though. Wouldn't giving it to a reputable charity, or even helping out someone you know who's in need, be considered giving it to god? My mother always says that whoever loves for her children loves her as well. I figure this applies to god as well. Please share your thoughts on the subject.

  • What's the best over the counter hair color to cover the occasional gray hair?

I don't want to look like I color my hair, nor do I want to change its natural color? Could I use those 5 minutes rinses like Just for Men?

  • Can a foot fetish be normal in a 5 year old boy?

He's liked to play with people's feet since he was a baby. At 5, he distinguishes between women's feet and men's feet, with men's feet being disgusting. He's getting erections out of it and tries to do it in hiding (he drags a coffee table over to someone and tries to get her to look away or cover her face). When he was a baby, it was weird. Now it creeps me out and I try to stay away from him now that summer and sandals are almost here. I wore flipflop last week to visit with his mother and I felt like a child molester. Can this be some early indication of sexual deviance? I mean, I've known men with a foot fetish and I guess it's okay. But a 5 year old with tiny erections from feet? It's disturbing.

  • How could a pregnancy show to be more advanced than it is?

In a sonogram, the baby is showing to be 9 weeks along, when it is not possible that is is more than 5 weeks along. Was completely celibate before that time, so there's no risk of miscalculation. What could this excessive size mean to the baby? Can this be normal?

  • Fruit roll up shaped scallops...?

Yesterday I ordered some fried scallops from a chinese restaurant. When I peeled off the batter, inside was something rolled up into a wheel, like those fruit by the foot candy, or those wheels of gum that comes in a plastic little cup. I'm not a big seafood person, and haven't had scallops very often, but I remember them being a small, circular, but solid piece of meaty fish, not a perfectly shaped tape wheel. What was that?

  • Can someone explain the concept of delegates in an election?

Who chooses delegates, and how can they vote a candidate into office when the people voted differently? If a democratic government is chosen by the people, how are these delegates given the power over the general populace? For example, if Bush lost the popular vote (which I presumed was the point of democracy), how did the delegates give him the presidency 8 years ago? If the delegates have the final say, why are we voting at all?

  • Does an Aerobed expand in size with prolonged use?

I've had my raise aerobed for over 2 years and use it as my everyday bed. It's great and very comfortable. No leaks. But I think it's bigger now than it was originally. Seems to take up more space and old sheets no longer fit. I bought a full size and full size bedding never fit, but now the queen size sheets seem to be somewhat small. I buy very good quality sheets, so it's not like they're shrinking.

  • Can a blackout affect a laptop as it does a desktop?

My old desktop became sluggish after a blackout. Considering that a laptop has a battery backing it up, will a sudden electrical blackout have a similar effect? I am traveling overseas where blackouts are common and don't want to ruin my new laptop.

  • What is the closest airport to Selma, North Carolina?

I want to fly in from NYC. They tell me there isn't an airport less than 3 hours away and you might as well go by train. Surely there's an airport nearby. Any insights?
