hanging in there
I am researching Mormonism from the peoples perspective so input from BOTH members AND nons, is VERY important. If your answers were deleted or you fear they will be, PLEASE send it for posting or reposting to explore538@yahoo.com This is a 'no point or violation risk' way of being heard. I am not, nor have I ever been a mormon. That means the research questions all stem from responders input. THANK YOU for your interest and your valued input!! Best Wishes to ALL!!! Laterzzz
LDS. Mormon. Did the J of D, or any part of them, need to be translated from another language?
I am researching input to another question I just asked. I was told that a respected church leader said something that is totally off the wall, both in my opinion and in the opinion of members. Is it possible that what he said could have been messed up in translation....or SOMETHING?? Where are the records coming from that make up the J of D anyways?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLDS. Mormon. Do you believe,or have you been taught, that God had physical sex with Mary, the mother of Jesus?
I just saw another question that claims LDS church beleves God had physical sex, as we know it, with the "virgin" Mary. I have never heard this mentioned before. Is this true? Reference material from LDS publications would be helpful on this one but not a requirement for answering this.
21 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan you remind people to star a valid question if they think the question is interesting enough to share?
Would posting this question with this reminder be in violation?
Q. LDS & Nons. Are funerals for the dead or the living and why are they important?
Details. I am researching the mormon religion from the peoples perspective. Multiple answers from varied viewpoints is helpful so if this question is interesting enough to share with a star, please do. Thank You.
6 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoChristian. WHY do some of you believe that God and Jesus are the same thing? Which religions believe this?
I dont know or undertstand how any religion can think God and Jesus are the same thing because bible clearly states the Jesus is Gods son.
27 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat "healing" or other "help", do you know about, that has been given by someone from the spirit world?
I had a question responder tell me about his terminally ill father promising that he would help his wifes chronic back pain when he could reach "the powers that be" on the other side. Sure enough, when responders Dad died, his mothers understandable and chronic back pain vanished. I know about healing hands but this is the first I have heard of it being done from beyond the grave. I want to know if others have been blessed in this way and what, if any, organized religion they are members of. This question is related to a project I am working on so if you think it is interesting enough to share with a star, please do. Thank You.

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristian. Why do people need "organized" religion?
My "God", along with the "Holy Spirit", are a such a core and sure element of who I am and what makes me tick, that it is as natural as feeling my heart beat. I dont need a name to catagorize my intimate relationship with God and the Holy Spirit. I have been aware of, and interacting with them since before I was old enough to realize there were even names for those parts of who I [and everybody else] am. So why do SOO many people feel the need to catagorize and limit their understanding, acceptance, and love OF, and FROM them, inside of a manmade sterotyped box? I honestly just dont get it and I never have and I am nearly 50 so I probably never will.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLDS. Besides being born male, what do priests do differently than females to "earn" priesthood titles?
Having another priest do "laying on of the hands" is what the other priest does, not person receiving the priesthood. I am researching the mormon religion and different view points help alot. So, If this question is interesting enough to share with a star, please do.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLDS. Did Christs original Apostles build churches, and temples for God to live in?
This question stems, in part, from this statement made by a current and long time member. "It is the same organization that Christ set up through his Apostles prior to his Death and Resurrection. Any one who says differently has not prayed and asked God." ..... OK,... I had another responder tell me that the original Apostles preached the gospel through word of mouth during their individual travels, but did not build structures either for members to congregate, or for God to live in. As a non member looking at this, the Mormon practice of going door to door seems to emulate the responders claim that original apostles did the same thing. If that is true, then why are there now churches and temples for God to live in ? If original Apostles did build churches and temples, how were they used and are ones being built today similar in construction and use? Multiple and varied viewpoints are helpful to my research, so stars are appreciated. Thank You.

This is a follow up question to information found while looking at responses to this one. "LDS. What is the "spirit prison" , who goes there, why and for how long?"
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat do you feed perch or sunfish caught in a lake and what are some good catfish bait recipies?
I know to bring home the lake water they live in and I know to keep container open to the air and cool, but what do I feed them? I need to keep them alive in a big ice chest for about a week to use as catfish bait the following weekend.
9 AnswersFishing1 decade agoLDS. What is the "spirit prison" , who goes there, why and for how long?
I have heard the spirit prison mentioned by responders answering some of my questions, but thought it was more or less a negative slant on something used by the anti's. I have now heard it being mentioned, by the same name, by members. OK... I must have been wrong before, so what is it?
