In Latin, can the word "ultra" be used of time?
1 AnswerLanguages4 years agoHave claims of anti-parasitical qualities of certain plants (garlic, cloves, ginger, etc.) been subject to legitimate scientific testing?
I ask because I passed some variety of roundworm today. I'll be seeing a doctor as soon as we can afford it, but in the meantime would like to know if there is something safe and effective to do immediately.
Thank you!
1 AnswerOther - Health6 years agoIn the United States, how are taxes levied on people with nothing but real assets?
If a person were to wean oneself completely off of currency, how would one fulfill one's tax obligations?

1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture10 years agoHas there been any progress in purely acoustic audio recording and playback since the early 20th century?
By "purely acoustic" I mean "requiring no electricity, either for recording or for playback," such as old phonograph cylinders. I am wondering if anyone kept developing and improving that technology after electrically-based recording and playback methods took over the market. Thank you!
1 AnswerEngineering10 years agoAs a Christian, I think we should replace the phrase "In God We Trust" on our money with...?
"The love of money is the root of all evil". It seems only a handful of people could ever be put off by that; it quotes the Bible, *and* it denounces the avaricious use someone might make of the currency. What do you think?

2 AnswersPrinters10 years agoHaving recently become interested in early typography, I'd like to learn more about these ornaments. Anyone?
Hello! I recently picked up a cheapo facsimile of the original KJV, and have been admiring the various ornaments and decorative initials. I am trying to learn more about the people that cut them, and/or if they have ever been digitized. Thank you!!
1 AnswerOther - Visual Arts1 decade agoThis is going to sound like a joke, but it isn't. Please help!?
I have badly burned my right fingers with peanut oil cooking. This skin is slightly crisped, and holding the hand over my head is the only thing that is giving me some relief from the pain. My wife is at work and has the only car. I am alone with my 2-year-old. What should I do?
3 AnswersInjuries1 decade agoI recall reading a quote from Galileo that I can't find. Help?
He said something to the effect that, if nature wouldn't yield him the answers he was looking for on its own, he would torture it and extract the answers via inquisition. That, for him, scientific tools were like implements of torture, by whereby he could make nature confess its secrets. I can't remember how he worded it exactly, though, so I'm having trouble finding it. Can anyone help? Thank you!
