  • What do you eat when nothing sounds good?

The options for dinner tonight are wide open, and I'm gonna be hungry in about an hour, but absolutely nothing sounds appetizing. Is there a certain food that you can always chow down on, even if you're not feeling particularly enthusiastic about it beforehand?

  • People who have seen Idiocracy, and/or eaten at Taco Bell recently?

Every day on my way to work, I pass my local Taco Bell and see a giant sign in the window with a photo of their two Doritos Locos tacos, regular and ranch. That's cool. My problem is the caption, which reads: "Collect All Two." If there are 2 of something, it's "both," not "all." And why would someone collect a taco? Are we officially living in the film Idiocracy?

  • Why pan-fry to get a sear BEFORE adding water, rather than vice versa?

I've cooked chicken, potstickers, fish, etc., and have always produced a great-tasting meal by steaming and/or boiling them, pouring the water off, and then adding a touch of olive oil to give them a nice brown sear. Yet the pros say to do the opposite -- sear and then add water. In my experience, that method produces watery, inedible ****. Am I insane, or is the searing-before-steaming method totally misguided?

  • Include the skins in mashed red potatoes?

I make a mean mashed red potatoes, but tonight I am making them for guests, and while I love to include the skins, and I know the nutritional value they contain, I am a bit hesitant to include them because I'm not certain it will work for everyone. Do you like skins in your mashed red potatoes, or not?

  • Help with Severely Chapped Lips?

During the winter season, my lips get so chapped that they start bleeding, and no matter how much Chap Stick or other lip balms I use, I can never quite get them back to normal. I slather lip balm on all day, and have tried countless brands (Burt's Bees, Blistex, Lypsyl). Lypsyl is probably the best I've tried so far, but it still doesn't quite reach the mark. I'm desperate! Anyone know of a miracle product, or even a great home remedy?

  • A recipe for healthful, delicious, VEGAN gravy?

I love making mashed red potatoes with some pureed cauliflower, Earth Balance, and almond milk. The only thing missing is a rich, hearty gravy that isn't just pure sodium, but rather has some ingredients that do a body good. Anyone have an amazing recipe?

  • Do microwaveable "steam pack" vegetables lose nutritional value?

Today I bought some brussels sprouts that cook in the bag in the microwave, because recently I've realized how much more convenient it is than buying fresh veggies. I'm trying to incorporate more "superfoods" into my diet, and I've heard that frozen vegetables are essentially as nutritious as fresh, but does steaming them in the microwave affect their nutritional value?

  • Why did Paul Ryan mention Jack Kennedy?

Biden chuckled, along with the rest of America, and went very soft on him by not delivering the famous line itself. Did Ryan not get the joke?

  • Is it okay to eat a Subway tuna sub that's been in the refrigerator for 24 hours?

I ordered a footlong exactly 24 hours ago, and it's been unwrapped in the fridge ever since. Will I get seafood poisoning if I dive into it?

  • Who remembers Vienetta, that layered ice cream treat from the 90s?

Why did they stop making that? Wasn't it delicious?

  • Is Lady Gaga's stance on fur hypocritical?

I like 3 or 4 Lady Gaga songs but was never a big fan of her music. However, I always considered myself a fan of hers due to her advocacy for gay rights. The fact that she was photographed wearing several fur coats bothered me initially, but her flippant, in-your-face response was even worse. It was essentially "Yeah, I wear fur, watcha gonna do about it?" Disgusting.

  • Cheap disposable cameras: Where is the best place to have the film developed?

I was forced to buy a $10 disposable camera the other day while on vacation, and I'm wondering if I can have the film developed into high-quality prints, and perhaps even have them converted to digital files and put on a CD, for a reasonable price. And most importantly, is there a mainstream chain that offers these services?

  • Is The Campaign okay for a mature 11-year-old?

I am 32, but my half-sister is 11, and though she loves Will Ferrell and really wants to see this, she has never seen him in an R-rated film. She is smart and has a good sense of humor, but she is, after all, only 11. To those who've seen it: do you think this would be okay for her?

  • Is infant circumcision worse than rape?

Rape is the act of violating another person's bodily integrity for one's own perverse sexual reasons. Yet many modern moms admit to having their baby boys strapped to a board and having their genitals mutilated without anesthetic for "aesthetic reasons" (quoted from a Sex and the City episode), aka sexual reasons. Rape is a horrible sexual assault, but it doesn't typically result in dismemberment, whereas circumcision is a horrible sexual assault that DOES, and results in a lifetime reduction in sensitivity.

  • Creative ways to combine broccoli and cheese?

These are my two favorite ingredients, and when I combine them, I am in heaven, especially in a baked potato. Does anyone have any awesome recipes that combine the two, or just an informal way of combining them that's a guilty pleasure?

  • Personal experiences on Lexapro?

I have been on almost every SSRI at some point or another since I was 18 (I am now 32), but just started Lexapro for the first time. It is definitely working, as I have a ton more energy and am functioning much better at work, but I am also noticing an odd "blunting" effect, wherein I don't feel any emotional lows, but conversely, I don't feel any emotional highs. It's disturbing. I also only get about 4 hours sleep per night, but that's secondary.

  • Do you have any odd food cravings?

I'm not talking about craving cookies or pizza, but rather something that most wouldn't consider crave-worthy. I myself crave broccoli constantly, and most people probably think I'm insane for that.

  • Isn't Christina Aguilera oddly abusive towards Tony Lucca?

He's great, and deserving of winning, but I hope people vote for him just to piss of that fat piece of crap Christina Aguilera. Seriously, dissing him as "one note," and then implying that he hates women and isn't a "real man" just because he covered a Jay Z song? What is wrong with this crazy heifer? I've heard nothing but negatives about her, and I guess she really is just a sadistic, nasty waste of skin (and a lot of cellulite).
