  • Why do men who think Gender and Women's Studies are ridiculous keep coming here...?

Why do men who clearly find the very idea of Gender and Women's Studies a big joke keep coming back here with their hateful, condescending, insulting questions? If you don't like it here you really ought to get the Hell out. I wouldn't go to, say, a Christian answers section and try to argue with all the Christians about why their religious is wrong and be disrespectful.

  • Does sex from behind seem too impersonal or demeaning to you?

I guess this is aimed at straight people, so I apologize for the exclusion...

It seems like a lot of boys I know love having sex from behind or in the doggystyle position and wouldn't date a girl who wasn't into it and this is just not something I would be comfortable doing. I have nothing against men or women who enjoying sex in this position and I don't think there's anything 'wrong' about it, but I personally would not want to do it because it seems sort of impersonal and demeaning to me. Does anyone else feel the same way or is it just me?

  • Will powdered Tide fade hair dye?

I have non-permanent black dye in my hair that has lasted about a year (probably because my hair had been lightened previously). I now wish to remove the color. A woman I know who used to own her own beauty salon told me to make a paste of powdered Tide laundry detergent and wash my hair with it. That would lighten or remove the color with a few treatments, according to her.

Have you heard anything like this before?

  • Am I the only girl who loved Scarface?

I feel like I'm the only young woman who watched Scarface and really enjoyed it. Everyone else I know who is a fan is a teenaged boy who completely missed the messaged. Lemme know I'm not alone here!

  • Why do I only get turned on when I'm half asleep?

I'm a young, healthy person and I never get sexually aroused when I'm awake. This isn't a source of pain or upset for me, but I wonder why this is. No matter what I do or think about, I just don't get turned out. I pretty much gave up trying to be "normal" and figured I was asexual or that my sex drive would either kick in someday or it wouldn't and just let things be.

I realize lately that I DO occasionally get turned on (once every couple weeks) if I'm asleep or in the half awake, half asleep state of mind. I'm not dreaming or thinking of anything sexual, just happen to be aroused. It never happens when I'm fully awake or mostly awake though.

Why is this? I've never been sexually abused and I wasn't raised in a repressive household. I'm fairly certain my hormone levels are normal (I get fairly regular periods, I don't have excess body hair that would suggest a hormone deficiency).

Any thoughts on this are appreciated! For the record, I'm female and almost 18 years old.

  • Do they make you wake up after surgery?

I'm having my tonsils and adenoids removed on Friday (kind of late in life I guess, but they never troubled me as a kid) and I've never had surgery before.

I notice on those reality surgery shows though that they always shake the person and force them to wake up afterward though. Will they do this to me?

  • How do you let a perfect stranger know you think they're hot?

This probably sounds odd, but have you ever seen someone everyday and just thought they were gorgeous and had the urge to let them know? And if so, how do you do that without coming off very weirdly?

  • How would you justify your life?

Let's say you wake up in a strange house tied to a chair. A man in black points a gun at you and tells you that you have one full minute to tell him why he shouldn't kill you or to convince him to give you more time.

    What would you say?

  • Why do some men put women on pedestals?

They don't seem to realize how unattractive and uncomfortable it is. Then when the woman they're worshipping doesn't return their feelings they blame it on her and christen themselves a "nice guy".

  • For those who are pro-life: If you had to choose between your child and fetus?

Let's say you have one child and a baby on the way. Someone is going to kill either your child or the fetus you or your partner is carrying. You must choose which one will die. Is it the fetus or the child you will part with? If you refuse to choose the person will kill them both. There is no other option in this scenario but to choose.

  • I'm moving in with a friend, help with making this fair?

A friend of mine are moving into a two bedroom apartment and one of the rooms is a bit bigger than the other and has two windows. She told me she doesn't care and that I can have the big one. To be honest, I really do want to the big one, but I feel like that's just not fair. Is there any kind of trade off we can do so that it's fair? I can't think of anything.

  • Do I put my make up on like an old person?

I know that probably sounds like a weird question!!!

Here's the thing: My friends and I were going for a ride and we got on the topic of make-up. I don't remember how she brought it up, but one of my friends said, "You put your make-up on like an old person." My other friend agreed with her and when I asked what they meant they said because I wear my eyeshadow up to my brow bone, I wear make-up like an old person. According to them, you're only supposed to put it up to the crease of your eyelid.

Is this true? Do I indeed put my make-up on like an old person?

  • Stripping color from hair?

I went through a long phase a while ago where I was dyed my hair every color under the sun. I also bleached my hair one or two times. Eventually I got tired of maintaining all the crazy colors so I covered my dark blonde (that is about the color my hair became after all the bleaching and dying) with black dye. The last time I did anything to my hair was around 5-6 months ago. I'm sick of black and want the color stripped out.

Around how much will this cost?

Will this totally fry my hair (it's pretty "healthy" and soft right now)?

Can they strip the color even though some of my hair has been bleached in the past?

  • Would you keep dating this person? (Possible criminal?)?

A friend of mine has been dating a guy for a few weeks now and she recently found out he used to be involved in organized crime (not really sure what that means outside mafia movies, but it's how his sister described it). At first I told her his sister must be pulling her leg, but it turns out the guy really did get shot a couple years back and has scars from it.

Something I personally find kind of odd about him is that even though his sister says he isn't involved with that stuff anymore, he always has a lot of extra money, but doesn't have a steady job. My friend asked him about all the cash and he told her he does little "odd jobs" and favors for people, but I'm not sure I believe he gets so much money for odd jobs (unless the going rate for picking people up at the airport and fixing cars is like $300 an hour). Also, the guy is always really vague about his work.

Anyway, my friend REALLY likes this guy, but I'm a tad concerned. What do you think? Would you keep dating him?
