  • When Do toddlers get ear tubes?

My daughter has had 13 ear infections since 3 months old. She is now 22 months and another one has occured. I asked the docted for a ENT referral and he feels she doesn't need it. Luckily I don't need one from my insurance and made an appt. I value my Pediatricians decisions but the antibiotics don't seem to work anymore. There have been times when my Ped has seen my dtr for other issues and noticed fluid and build up in her ears. She doesn't seem to have a hearing problem and has started to talk more. Any suggestions?

  • Do you need signed consent to take a child out of the country?

I am married and taking my daughter 6 years old out of the country. We are stopping over in one country Turkey and then moving on to Israel. We have passports and my husband had to sign consent for my daughter to get a passport. The question came up that I might need a notorized letter that my spouse has to sign that he is aware we are on vacation. He did this with his son from a previous marriage but they were divorced.

  • How do you know if a 7 year old is dyslexic?

My son becomes so fustrated when he reads at times he cries. When we read he makes excusses that he has to go to the bathroom or starts to play with his baby sister. He guesses some words and does not like to sound out the word. He is practically gifted in math but does not do well with word problems. He can memorize sight words and did very well on spelling tests last year (first grade). I just don't know if this is an "issue" now or normal for a second grader he will be 7 in a month.

  • Do you pay a babysitter for the extra time she/he spends talking to you once you return home?

I have an amazing babysitter but she tends to talk a lot. When I return home I feel that is when the clock stops. My husband feels she should be paid until ready to walk out the door. Not sure if there is proper ettiquette in this situation.

  • Anyone have experience with their 6 year old having a cavity in a baby tooth?

My 6 year old son has a cavity. The dentist wants to put a filling in which breaks my heart. I asked whats the point if the tooth will just fall out? He mentioned the tooth is in the back and can stay in for another 6 years. What is the process for a 6 year old to get a filling? Very nervous about this.

  • Has anybody experienced their infant having a small pea size lump behind the ear on the back of the neck?

I was nursing my daughter stroking her head and neck and felt this pea size lump. When I touched it she didn't seem to mind. She is eating, no fever, smiling , etc. Not sure if this is a lymph node but will call her pediatrician. Just wondering if any other moms have had the experience to ease my anxiety.

  • Do you confront your spouse that your read his emails?

I know my husbands password he had given it to me with trust. I am currently home on maternity and maybe too much time on my hands. In the light of Tiger Woods and Jesse James I started to get curious about my husbands emails and such. Well wouldn't you know it he had a flirty email to a sales rep. from his job. She had emailed him back that she wanted advice about her "dead end job" and he asked her out to talk about it. They agreed to going out to wine after work one day. I confronted my husband in a round about way, saying are you happy with our marriage. He gave me some bullshit how he loves me more and more every day since this recent birth only 5 weeks ago. I told him if he was cheating on me then i have no choice to separate. He promised he has never been unfaithful or asked out another woman. I didn't have the balls to say I read his emails. Part of me is in shock and denial but hte other part wants to say , I read your emails you lying ****! So how would you handle this. I

  • What is the best way to organize a Holiday Party for a first grade class?

I am a class mom and have to arrange a holiday party in Dec. for a 1st grade class. I wasn't sure if I should ask the parents for a money donation to buy goodies and a small gift or have the parents bring in their own dishes or goodies for the party. I wanted to get the kids a small gift ex. the dollar stores here in NYC have books/pencils/erasers etc. Should I ask the parent for a small donation of 3 dollars to get that and then have them bring in their food? This is my first time doing this and would love any advice.

  • Would you go through a amnio if you feel it is invasive?

My ob/gyn called me today saying one of the blood works I had came back borderline positive for downsyndrome. I had a nucheal translucency test and the ultrasound and first blood test was fine. I had a second test two weeks later and this blood test was "borderline". I have been telling my ob/gyn that I do not want an amnio unless there was any question with the NT. I will also be 40 in two weeks and the Ob said due to my age the amnio is highly recommended. I am also pissed my ob had his partner call me to tell me this. There is absolutely no down syndrome or other birth defects in my family and extended family. The genticist said the only factor against me was my age. I have two healthy children 5 and 4. If I do have a down syndrome baby i will still feel blessed and love my child.

  • can anyone think of a great middle name that goes with Eve?

I am pregnant with my third child. My husband and I have figured out a boys name but I want to name my child, if a girl, after my maternal grandmother who was known as Irene, but my mom said her hame was actually Eve. I was thinking of Eve, Eva, Evie, or possibly Ava., Maybe those variations are more helpful.

  • Do you think refusing an amniocentesis at age 39 is ok?

I am 39 and will be 40 when I have baby #3. I refused amnio for my first two pregnancies, I was 34 and 35 at that time. I had a nucheal translucency test which so far seemed ok. I haven't finished the blood test for that test yet. I also met with a geneticist who stated I have a small chance of complications with family genetics, only odds against me is age. I find the amnio so invasive to a fetus.

  • Is it possible to feel baby movement at 12 weeks 5 days.?

This is my third child and I can almost swear I have that fluttering in my lower abdomen. I know it's not gas! Every so often I feel like a tickle from inside. I know the baby is moving around because the last sonogram at 9 weeks the baby was moving a lot during the sonogram.

  • Do Fraternal and Identical twins have separate amniotic sacs?

I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks. They saw the sac but difficult to see the embryo. MD said b/c of my 2 prior c-sections it can be difficult to get a clear picture. He wants me to come back again next week. Just wondering if two sacs form or one sac can hold twins. Can one sac be hiding behind another. I have twins on both sides of my family, and my husbands, also I am 39 and have a higher rate of a twin pregnancy.
