If Hillary Clinton is President in 2008 how will you as members of the international community view America?
The talk around the U.S. is that Hillary is a respected world figure and just being elected would strengthen and heal most of our image in the world particularly Europe. Seeing as much of economics in the world today has to do with international perception of stability i am asking members of the international community to answer this question
"If Hillary is President next year how will you see your American cousins."
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoQuestions about Police and Service Member Respect?
I have a friend who just got off Block leave(he got back from Iraq and then went home) and he was telling me about a cop who went out of his way to drive him home from a bar after his girlfriend broke up/left him there. The Army is full of stories like this and sometimes it feels like Cops are the only people in the states who we can count on to always give us both our needed distance and respect. (no disrespect to Civilians)
I was just wondering from a Police Officers point of view what brings on this behavior.
Also do people constantly ask you guys if you have ever killed someone...like your going to discuss this with them in a star bucks?
7 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoWhat evidence does anyone have that the U.S. or other world Militaries personnel are unintelligent.?
I’m just wondering considering most jobs in the Military especially the more advanced ones require extensive class room training as well as field training. Even Combat MOS’s have to be able to calculate complicated Algebra (Alt and grid locations for MEDVACS and even Basic Location) under combat stress.
I know this isn’t a belief held by many but why do you all think it’s the common perception.
5 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoDoes the international community realize they are pushing us to isolationism?
I just asked another question and this one popped into my head. With all this ant-American sentiment does the international community realize that a great deal of Americans I dare say a majority (info not just from this forum but friend family and strangers in a recent visit to the states) are swinging back to isolationism...is that why they want?
I'm asking without prejudice but surely they realize that we are easily a self sustaining country. And when I say Isolationism I refer to the pre WW2 era were we traded only with the American continent, Great Britain and a few assorted other countries but gave no foreign aid and made no international military movements such as those dictated from NATO.
So worlds were the US does not belong to NATO and does not participate in the many humanitarian missions we conduct.
In essences the US acts just like China foreign policy wise.
11 AnswersMilitary1 decade agowhy does everyone assume the world hates Americans?
Ok to validate this point I live in Germany and have so for 8 months and prior to that I lived in South Korea.
I’ve spent a lot of the last 3 years traveling around the world it is rare to meet someone who genuinely doesn’t like Americans. On the rare occasions I do meet a Anti-American people they have opinions based largely in assumptions given to them from teachers or the media which I protest is the same sources that give Americans much of out Bias. In fact before logging onto this forum out of pure boredom I never really say so much Anti American sentiment and disturb me if you look at the world before WW1 you will see the topic of Nationalism popping up this ant foreign sentiment is dangerous and should be stopped. Weather you like the US or not don’t take away our accomplishments because they do not allow yourself to come out on top we are a strong country…the concept of Superpower is kind of dated with globalization and the EU and such.
12 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhy so many Creepy nice guys/girls?
I used to be one of those annoying clingy “nice guys” who of course I was acting nice was just secretly trying to spend all the time I had with a girl to get her to like me. So eventually I stopped being pathetic and cut that crap and got some hobbies now that finding women isn’t my only focus I seem to find more quality people to date and hang out with but my question is why are so many guys and even girls sucked into this…I have a friend who still does this crap I just don’t get it…
3 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoWhy Does everyone use this Forum to ask Political Questions?
I believe its because Civilians for the most part want Service Members prospective of Iraq well man here is some truth i cant talk for everyone but i know alot will agree with this:
Iraq Sucks its Hot and its a Mess and its not the Military’s Fault. The Political pressure is so great that you cant even shoot at a sniper from a guard post without authorization. You roll into towns on a convoy and the people smile and wave and chase the convoy all the way till you reach the IED then some @sshole who got paid $50 to $100 bucks blows the damn thing so if you want to know what a US Soldiers like is worth its 50 to 100 $.
The you go in kick a few doors and spend most of your time trying to keep you Iraqi Interpreter from Beating to Death the whole family.
If you with a Sunni he brings you to all the Shiites if you’re with a Shiite he brings you to all the Sunni's.
The only good Iraqi i ever met was a Kurd and both Shiites and Sunni hate them.
Its the very worst of humanity.

5 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoTO Marines: Are you guys getting the promised Dwell Time?
I know in the Army they for example moved us up to 15 months with a promised 12 month dwell time but I know myself for instance i am only getting about 9 months of dwell time and I know of a lot more people who have had to deal with this.
Just wondering since the Marines are the only ones i saw actively participating down there if they are getting the same raw deal i think its like 6 or 7 month deployments for you guys right.
OEF 2 & OEF 4 and now OEF (what ever the hell numbers were at)
1 AnswerMilitary1 decade agoI just got a Wiccan Soldier and i have a few questions?
I have a brand new Private under me and her religion is pagan well she said Pagan Wicca and i honestly have no clue about the religion and i need to know in order to properly ensure her religious standards are upheld she told me she would have late night meeting with the local group but when they were was sometimes on different days of the week and she would need a week off during solstices...
I believe her on these points as they seem to make sense and she doesn’t strike me as the type to lie but are there words or customs that are offensive...any help would be appreciated.
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is the social climate in the Sates so different from Vietnam?
I’m talking out of gratitude but both my father and I have been to Iraq and he was also in Vietnam and we were talking about how the Public is treating Soldiers better coming from Iraq then they did out of Vietnam. This time around there are no baby killer comments and we aren’t being seen as murders I was just curious what everyone thought the difference was in regards to the Military.
I cant speak for all Service Members but I can honestly say that more then half of us realize that speaking out against the war doesn’t translate in our heads as speaking out against Soldiers and is usually not taken as a hit against us or our chosen profession.
8 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhy are we still debating Global Warming????
I'm A Soldier so forgive me for seeing things as definitive but its hotter this year then last year. In Germany (current station) it snowed were i live 60% less then the year before, that’s probably just an inconsistency, and the ice caps are melting.
So what’s the debate i mean why is the government still looking into it...just seems to me like we debating whether or not a forest fire is going to burn down our house or not instead of getting the water...
Anyways just what’s the deal.
13 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoWhat if we spent more money in science?
Lets say the world has an epiphany and most countries (not all that is to unrealistic for an unrealistic questions) and most major countries started a free border alliance like the EU so you have aprox lets say half a trillion of money available for divergence how far would we be in science...space ships or colonizing the ocean (although i think we have screwed up enough stuff no need to do it to the ocean) ...
just curios…
and please dont just say far....
just curiuse.
5 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoI just got a VW Rabbit 07 American specs in Germany?

1 AnswerOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoI dont usually pay attention to my dreams but this one is bad?
I'm In Iraq again with a buddy of mine who recently got dead over there ( I wasn’t there i left for the second time six months ago) and were in some generic village with a bunch of the people from my current unit and the one we were in. We come under fire and everyone start dieing and although they are all looking an waiting for me to fire back i cant get the magazine in the m16 i put it in and pull the charging handle (cok the rifle) but i keep looking down and the rifle isn’t loaded. finally i look around and i cant find my buddy anywhere in fact I’m the only one around and the enemy is still firing...i know this sounds made up but i had it the night before last and last night i couldn’t get any sleep because i kept thinking about it.
The first time out of Iraq I didn’t have anything like this...I’m a little worried to be honest my father was in Vietnam and he still wake up in a cold sweat.

I hate going to the Touristy spots so is there anything off the path that’s worth checking out ... it will be in July.
3 AnswersLondon1 decade agoWhat is wrong with the Western World?
To Define I got to Europe about 8 months ago and in that time I’ve traveled to London, Dublin, Paris, Cologne, Berlin, Rome and some other assorted European cities most smaller and less known but better for those reasons.
And everywhere I go I hear about how Europeans don’t like each other or how Americans don’t like Europeans or...well you get the idea. Although, i concede our governments don’t particularly get along the younger generations of Europeans and Americans I have never felt any anger. Although I have had to answer uncomfortable questions (I'm A Solder and won’t lie about it).
So anyways I’m as far from a hippie as possible but why can’t we in the West stop bickering like children and help each other fix this mess (the world) that essentially we F*(*ed up.
4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agowhat would happen if we started using the old "Rules of courtship"....would this be an all together bad thing?
I’m a young guy in my early twenties so I’m starting to work my way out of looking for the quick and easy type of girls and starting to look for more mature and independent women. Although I'm quickly learning its a whole different ball game when you talk about approaching the different two.
So anyways my question is if there were a set rules of courtship accepted by and used by our society would this be Necessarily negative thing (with feminism in mind), or is it something we maybe need in this growing and increasingly complicated world we are inheriting.
