  • taking care of cat with long fur?

I'm taking care of a homeless cat with long fur. He's been on the street for a long time. He also had bald spots, because he licked the fur away, it was matted.

Now I comb him now and then, but his fur doesn't shine at all. It's also in patches, it sticks out here and there. What can I do to help him ?

Shaving is no option, he's still too wild for that.

  • Dog catching and eating a chicken...?

A few years ago I was walking with somebody's dog in the park, on the leash. In this park chickens walk free around. The dog broke loose ( he went totally mad ) and grabbed a chicken and killed it ;-(

And if this was not terrible enought he started EATING it completely ! I had to grab him and pull him off the chicken... There was hardly anything left of the poor chicken....

My question is, is this normal for a dog to do ? To really eat the animal that they catch ? It was a terrible experience. Poor chicken ;-( The owner said to me the dog had never done that before....

  • My cat is so wild?

Since 3 years I have a cat from the cat-shelter. I don't know what he's been through, but he always stayed wild. He's very hard to handle ( also bites ). Things like taking him to a vet or so are practically impossible, because I can't pick him up. He only comes inside to eat. He hardly wants any attention.

Does anybody here also have a cat like this ? What can I do more to win its trust ? I'm always nice to him, also when he hisses at me ( only for not opening the front door in time... )

No rude answeres please, I do love my cat, I don't want to get rid of him. I'm trying to understand him.

  • Why do cats keep on licking their wounds?

My cat has a small wound next to his tail for a few weeks. This could have been well, if he didn't keep on licking it open... Why are they doing this ? I keep on desinfecting it. But he keeps on licking it open..

  • Communicating with animals?

Just curious. Would you contact somebody who can talk to animals to talk to your cat/dog if you notice they have a problem or just out of curiousity ?

I did this 3 times, I thought it was really special. Do you believe in this ?

  • Neglected cat is put to sleep?

Some time ago I asked a question concerning a neglected cat in my neighbourhood. Some of you asked to let you know how she went on.

I went to the vet with her myself ( the so called 'animal protection service' didn't do anything...

But it turned out the poort thing was deady ill ( FIP, kidney etc ect and very old ).

The vet said she should end her misery, the cat was suffering a lot.

When I told the animal protection this, they seized her and put her to sleep. ;-(

I'm so sad about it and angry with those owners and the animal protection for not doing anything......

  • Hair-mask in all night?

Once a week I put a hair- mask in my hair, from Guhl. You're supposed to leave it in for 15 minutes. But I leave it in for 1 night and rinse my hair in the morning. Some people said to me it's very bad for your hair. What do you think ?

  • Old neglected cat?

There's an old neglected cat walking around in my neighbourhood. Does anybody recognize these symptoms ?

    - dry cough

    - swallows very oft

    - has diarea

    - extremely thin

    - hardly any theeth

    - terrible looking fur

I think I will take him to a vet, I'm just curious about what he could have and what the costs will be. Could he have astma ? Or a throat infection ?
