  • People in black bodysuits & toilet paper faces on a 70's kids show?

I just remembered the odd actors/dancers on an old 70's kids' show (Sesame Street? Electric Company? something else?) They would wear black bodysuits with only bare feet and hands showing, and something else unusual over that. The one I particularly remember had rolls of toilet paper making a face, that he would roll around and tear off sheets from. They usually moved oddly, animalistic or insect style movements; it was a bit surreal.

Any idea what that show was or what those people were called? Wish I could find video of them, they're a bit hard to describe.

  • Beginner C++ program ideas?

My teacher has assigned a project to write a program "that shows your understanding of the concepts covered in class." That's all -- no suggestions, no directions, nothing. I need ideas!

What we've covered: simple I/O (cin, cout, & formatting); control structures and loops; functions; strings; arrays; vectors; structs; classes and inheritance.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Why do the most guilty people try the most to blame others?

I was just reading the statement from the SC governor's mistress, and she's acting like the injured party: saying the guy who found and leaked the information about the affair did an "evil act" and saying that his actions "destroyed the lives of so many others" and she "leaves it up to God" (to reveal/punish him). Yes, stealing someone's correspondence is illegal and wrong; but *he* didn't "destroy lives", the affair she consented to did. Evidently she felt it was just fine as long as nobody knew, and blames the hacker entirely.

  • How can I fix my suddenly flaky network connection?

Two days ago, my computer developed the hiccups. My 10/100 Ethernet card keeps connecting and disconnecting; "Local area connection: A network cable is unplugged" keeps appearing and disappearing in the Windows XP taskbar. I do get Internet access but it's (as you might guess) slow and has long pauses at times.

I've checked the cable connections, and the switch and router lights seem to be on as appropriate. I haven't changed anything on the system. Windows reports no IRQ conflicts on the network card.

What could be the problem, and how might I fix it?

  • Is it just me, or did Bush just declare that China is a bigger power than we are, now?

"The Chinese people are watching very carefully about the decisions by world leaders and I happen to believe that not going to the opening ceremony for the games would be an affront to the Chinese people, which may make it more difficult to be able to speak frankly with the Chinese leadership," the president said. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080706/ap_on_go_pr_wh...

  • Cliche or for real: guys only want one thing?

My husband moved out two years ago after I found he'd maxed out his credit cards and started in on mine at a strip club known for prostitution (to the tune of $55,000 in 3-4 months). We're divorcing now since he doesn't want to bother to try to fix "us".

Several of my male friends have since been hitting on me -- politely, but making it quite clear that they find me attractive and they would love to get in the sack with me. I'm not taking anyone up on it, but heaing this is kinda nice to my bruised ego -- but now I wonder if it really is true that this is all guys want. I don't want to be just used for sex, and I don't want to use sex to get companionship and affection (or, like the women my estranged spouse visits, for money). Please reassure me there's more to (at least some!) men than this!

  • How do I modify cooking time/temp for a smaller piece of meat?

I have a family recipe for beef brisket that calls for sealing it in aluminum foil with a marinade, then roasting it in the oven for 5 hours at 275 degrees. However, I'm making it only for me instead of family, so have 2.5 lbs of brisket instead of 5lbs as the recipe calls for.

How do I modify cooking this so that it is fully cooked and tender, as the recipe normally results? Shorter time? Lower temperature? I'm afraid that it'll be overdone if I follow the recipe -- or would this matter since the foil seals in the juices and it would just sit and get more tender?
