I am thinking of going out on my own as a consultant?
I have extensive managerial and business skills and I find myself at a cross roads in my life. I can take redundancy, accept an alternative but very inferior role within the same company (less hours, less hourly rate) or consider branching out as a quality consultant with one very other experienced freelancer.
Does any one in the UK have any practical advice for me including advice on HMRC, issues, pros and cons of freelancing, any words of wisdom/links/ideas? I currently work for a large third sector organisation in the health arena. I have a CertEd, a PG Diploma in social studies and an MA in business management,
I can post my linkedin profile if anyone has the time to look at it or can offer me more in-depth insight etc
Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this,

I will be freelancing as a teaching Inspector across Scotland and I will be renting a property. (By the sea would be a bonus!)

1 AnswerTunisia9 years agoI am a longstanding housing association tenant. I asked about my "right to acquire" my house...?
they came back with "as my house was not built after 1997 (when they acquired the housing stock from the council) I do not have the right to acquire" Is this discrimination under their equal opportunities policy? My neighbours down the road who live in a newish house do have the right to acquire...
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate10 years agoDog legal advice needed?
I live in the UK and have a long term assured tenancy. I have a huge wooded back garden where I keep chickens. At the bottom of my garden is a wire boundary fence, then about 10 metres of woods and then a public footpath.
I have a few laying hens in an enclosed pen. A woman who walks her dogs allows her terrier to come under our wire fence and hassle my chickens.
When I asked her to stop the dog doing this, she said that its a dog and can go where it likes and I should make my wire fence dog proof if I didn't want them in.
I rang the local Police who also said the same thing, I cannot believe that her dog is allowed to run free in my garden and that I am powerless to do anything about it.
We do have an airgun, which we keep the squirrels down with. Can I shoot over the dogs head to scare it off or I am going to be in the wrong? She is rude, obnoxious and not open to reason.
In a legal sense do I have any options open to me?
