I wish to share with you the way I view religion. I was hoping you could reply with your view on religion and possibly correct me as it suits you. I realise it's a sensitive subject, but I felt like I needed to do this.

I think practicing a religion is not about finding out whether the stories being preached are true, it's about having faith in it.

This endless fight about whether something is true or reliable or not has to stop. If people believe in something, allow them to do so. Don't force your own views onto others, merely share as it suits you and let them think and believe for themselves.

Personally I like to look at religious books such as the Bible as metaphorical books. Every story has a deeper meaning, a lesson to be learnt from. I suppose you could look at it as one of the first law books, teaching a moral code amongst the common people. I think it helped culturally develop our world as we know it, even though many wars were fought over it.

I don't really believe in a God as a being, but I'm guessing if so many people believe, a God does in a certain sense exist... in the hearts of those who believe.

I've been asking this question for a while now, to various people.

So far I haven't gotten a fair answer.

The answers basically always came down to a simple "Because it is so". I hope someone can clarify this, and please don't start dumping millions of links to qu'ran and islam websites.

I want to hear it from you.
