  • Pain in left arm, shoulder, neck, etc....concerned!?

I am currently experiencing pain coming from my left shoulder, left arm (down to and into hand), left neck, and on the left side of my chest, right under where my peck is located.

I've had it before, more in the past 6 months or so. Sometimes heavy and lasting for days. Sometimes intermittent. I still function but don't feel well because of the pain.

I take .5mg of Klonopin 3x a day for anxiety.

The obvious response is I have a heart issue, right? Is there anything else that could cause these symptoms?

  • Doctor cancelled my appointment last minute. I've been taking medication for 8 years. Thoughts?

I'm having a real problem with our health care this morning.

My family and I recently moved back to the Midwest. I take a regular doze of Clonazapam for anxiety. I take .5mg x 3 a day. I don't always take all 3. I know it's dangerous to come off this medication.

It took forever to make an appointment when returned. I used the small reserve I had to make it to today. My doctor who was supposed to be "the best" cancelled this morning. My wife and I have been calling General Practice doctors for 60 minutes trying to get an appointment. The urgent care facilities here (I live in the STL area) don't prescribe the medication I take.

The horrible person at the doctors office who I spoke with told me I'd have to go to the ER. I have insurance but that would still cost my family a fortune.

What can I do here...any thoughts?

  • Back problem critical, at a loss?

I've had a lower back problem for approx. 7 years. The past few months the frequency and intensity of pain has increased. I've been on a pain medication for 5 of the 7 years, it's called Hydrocodone. It is no longer doing anything to help. I woke up this morning (4:00 a.m.) to horrible pain, it's difficult to walk. We recently moved to Santa Fe, NM. I have a new doctor here who of course cannot see me today (health care here is horrible). They are sending me to their urgent care facility. I'm not sure what's going to happen here. I know I'll need surgery soon but in the interim need relief to continue working. Does anyone know what to expect here? I do not want more steroid shots. They have never helped and on several occasions have made it worse.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

  • Off-Road Mechanics, Order of Major Suspension Upgrade?

This is an interesting question based on an argument I had with an employee of mine at my auto shop. Let's see what some other people think.....

Specifically on a 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee XJ but would apply to many rigs as a whole.

The best order to install the following upgrades?

lift kit, coils, shocks, rear leafs, tie rods, ball joints, track bar, and a u-joint

The above list is in no particular order, not the way I think it should be, I want unbiased responses...what would some of you off-road guys do? I restore classics and do general mechanic work, I've done a number of decent rigs over the years though.

Thank you in advance, I've been answering here for years...thought I might ask for a little back!

  • Removing Wallpaper Border?

I am in the process of remodeling a large dining room in our home. It will be the first time it has been used as one since we bought the house about a year ago. A wallpaper border runs around the top of the entire room (14' x 18'). It's actually 3 borders, 1 on top of the other. I need not say here how much I absolutely loathe wallpaper.

I have used WP chomp (spray on remover) along with a wallpaper scoring tool, and a wallpaper scraping tool. The top layer skin peeled right off and exposed it's backing, the spray/remover took the adhesive/backing right off. The next layer underneath however is not budging. The outer skin will not tear off, scoring it and soaking it in remover doesn't do squat. The only method of removal is to turn the corner of the scraper into an area and taking it off a tiny piece at a time. With the size of this room (and trying to get it done before thanksgiving) I'm looking for a way to do this without spending 10 hours removing a tiny piece at a time.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Network Connectivity - Intermittent?

Office setup, 5 hard wired machines, 2 wireless. Outgoing connection is a 15MBps cable modem. Cable modem feeds into 8 port 100MBps router, with VPN/Firewall. It's a Netgear FVG-318.

All machines connect fine within the local subnet. The wired machines will however lose their internet connection at random. 1 user is dropping their connection and having to use the "repair" option up to 15 times a day. The wireless machines never lose their internet connectivity. The other wired machines may go down anywhere from 1x-10x a day...the repair option in windows always corrects the problem but still...this should not be happening. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

  • Distributor Cap Wiring?

1999 Chevy Tahoe - 350 5.7L - Engine was removed for a rebuild, pigtail on back of distributor broke off (wires came out of connector). There are 3 wires, pink, black, and pink with a black stripe. It's no problem to rebuild the connection, I however do not know what order the wires were meant to go in. Trying to correct this quickly, motor is going back in this evening. Thanks in advance!

  • Cat transferred micro-ogranism to wife?

My wife has been suffering. Approx. 6 weeks ago her left eye became inflamed/red on the inside corner. She has seen her regular doctor (who misdiagnosed) and has returned to a very high profile eye clinic 2x now. Her visit yesterday yieled an interesting diagnosis....she has an "ulcer" on her eye and inflamed lymph nodes. They say this was caused by our new kitten scratching her face.

My wife is demanding we get rid of the cat (we have a child as well) but I can't bring myself to just drop it off at a humane society center. I'd like to take it to the vet and confirm/deny it has any infectious diseases and whether they're treatable. Has anyone else had something similar happen? Resolutions?

  • 97 Corolla - No Start Issue?

I usually spend my time on here answering automotive questions, now I need some help.

97 Toyota Corolla, 7AF Engine, 80k miles. Starter shorted out. Replaced the starter and the battery. Vehicle turns over without hesitation with no ignition (won't start). All relays/fuses have been checked. Spark has been checked (good), fuel has been checked at the filter and injector rail (flow appears good). Vehicle will run if ignition fluid is sprayed into intake...indicating spark/fuel issue..but as I said above both proved to be ok.

On a final odd note the check engine light remains on with the key out of the ignition (new to me, 13 year mechanic!) I pulled the codes, 2 registered for shift solenoids (nothing to do with not starting). This vehicle ran fine prior to the starter burning up several days ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Didn't sleep well last night, advice on dealing with the day ahead?

I'm typically a heavy sleeper, averaging 7-8 hours of rest per night. Last night I had to deal with some "family issues" and ended up getting 2.5 hours of sleep. Normally I would've called in a personal day and slept in, unfortunatley I have an incredibly busy day ahead packed with meetings, I have to stay on the ball for at least another 9 hours (been up for 3 already).

I suffer from anxiety, caffeine is not an option...I'll go from tired with an inability to focus well to a complete wreck. Does anyone have suggestions on how I might cope with my lack of sleep? Any help is appreciated.

  • Hydrogen Power - Availability?

If a hydrogen fueling station infrastructure was in place in the U.S. would you be interested in purchasing a hydrogen powered vehicle?

Keep in mind that almost every major auto manufacturer now has at least 1 hydrogen model available. Hundreds of hydrogen powered vehicles are being run on a "test" basis all over the country. I believe LAX has several hydrogen powered shuttles in service as we speak.

Just interested if others would be interested if the fuel source was readily available.

  • Seperating a form onto several pages?

I've been a mild developer for years, pretty good with PS and fairly proficient with Frontpage and Dreamweaver.

I'm in the process of developing a form for my own company which can be seen here:

    www.intrasteel.com/ibuilder.htm

The plan is to open that form in a more "application" like enviornment. A link to it will open a new sized window with a graphical interface surrounding the actual form. I need to split the form into 11 different pages basically...using a next button to proceed.

How do I get the form to carry the data over from one page to the next? Is there an easy way to approach this? Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

  • 94 Buick Century - A/C Clutch?

We don't often service A/C systems in the shop. I did however receive a special request from a friend in need. She runs a 94 Buick Century with the 3100 SFI V6. The A/C compressor started hollering yesterday morning. I've diagnosed the issue as a bad clutch. I've done just one other A/C clutch replacement years ago and don't remember it being too difficult but could use someone with a bit more A/C experience input. Anything in particular to watch out for?

Simple removal of clutch with a spanner tool followed by the external and internal snap rings? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • 94 Galant - Tranny Problem?

A friend of mine purchased a 94 Galant several months ago with approx. 145k miles on it. I've already repaired most of the "Galant Issues"...valves are new as is the head gasket. The car runs pretty well for it's age.

Several days ago the car got left on the side of the road. She claims she heard some noise coming from the front and then the RPMS jumped as the car came out of gear. (Automatic) It has since been towed to a safe location (my shop) but will not operate in any gear. It seems as if the tranny is not engaging the flywheel on the motor.

I usually answer questions here but am hesitant to get into this Galant without more info. The car will not engage in any gear nor does it shudder when moved through the gears. The tranny fluid is not burnt and free of debris. The torque converter seems obvious but could it be something else? Thanks.

  • False Positive HIV Test - Is This Possible???

Very careful, practice safe sex, have only had 3 partners my entire life. My wife convinced me to donate Plasma and they told me I tested positive for HIV antigens. I've never done IV drugs, my first partner was a "first" time for both of us, the second was always protected, and the third is my wife of 3 years. We have a child together...she was tested several times during pregnancy (and at the Plasma donation center recently) with negative results. How in the hell could I have HIV?!?!? Freaking out to say the least, I have a western blot scheduled for Thursday. I'm counting on it being lab error or a false positive.
