Christine
I have been a born-again Christian since July 2008. I believe my mission here is to help the non-believers to believe in Christ and the believers to stay in Christ.
Where should I go...?
My church has some upcoming mission trips. The places are Panama, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. I get to choose which one I want to go on. I've lightly researched each place and the one I'm currently leaning towards is Guatemala. My question is, which country seems the best to go to as far as scenery, culture, and people? Also, which country would you say has the most need? Thanks and God bless you! :)
2 AnswersOther - Latin America7 years agoFrench speakers! Help please?
I tried using a translator for the lyrics to a song and even though I'm not a fluent French speaker, I know it didn't translate them right. These are the words:
L'esprit de Dieu est la
Il est la parmi nous
Il agit puissament
Pour la gloire de Dieu
Can someone please translate them please? Thank you and God bless! :)
3 AnswersLanguages9 years agoPiano student trouble...?
Hi! I am teaching piano to children between ages 6 and 10. Things have been going pretty well up until it came to playing both hands at the same time. For some reason, it is very hard for them to grasp how to do this and they get confused. Does anyone have any tips or website recommendations on how I can help them learn to play with both hands at the same time, while also making it fun and keeping their interest? Thank you!
2 AnswersOther - Music9 years agoWhy has this generation become so weak?
You're constantly hearing about people people trying to escape-a kid gets bullied at school so he kills himself; times are so tough during this recession so a person commits suicide to escape the depression; life is stressful, and another person shoots up drugs to 'get away' and 'numb the pain.'
Nobody wants to go through anything anymore. Isn't it time that you man up and say, I might be going through this storm right now so that I can become stronger? When are you going to accept the pain and trust that God will bring you through? When are you going to hold on to the verse that says God's strength is made perfect in weakness? (2 Corin. 12:9)
Can the answer possibly be that this generation is so weak because people are no longer relying on God's strength?

30 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDoes Britain not have many fast food restaurants?
I notice many British people like to make fun of how many fast food restaurants America has and how fat so many of us are. I have to agree, we do have a lot of f.f. restaurants cause I observed just the other day that there were about four McDonald's on the same street. At the same time, what's so wrong with being round? Not every round person has major health problems and dies early. I'm not skinny and I'm not very, very round, but I'm more fit than my skinnier sister who's several years older than me. Anyway, are British people that much skinnier (in an ovrerall general sense) than us as they claim? In my opinion, it's not so much about the outer appearance than the well-being of the spirit that lies within a person. - A Christian viewpoint
5 AnswersOther - Society & Culture9 years agoThe Big Bang...A Big Lie?
Agreed? The Big Bang THEORY is defined as "The explosion of dense matter that, according to current cosmological theories, marked the origin of the universe." I have a question for those that believe this theory to be true. Where did the dense matter come from? How did the the energy just appear and form subatomic particles and then eventually some elements came together and formed humans and animals---precisely knowing where to place the two eyes, the nose, ears, internal organs, and interpreting how to make the heart beat (which then leads to the THEORY of evolution)?
See where I'm going with this? Life is just way too complex for people to say that God did not create the beauty of the universe. And unlike the Big Bang, which is an unproven event that scientists can't go back in time and prove, God is still seated in heaven, Jesus is very alive today, and He has been saving lives for centuries. Jesus Christ's love is very real, tangible, and can be felt through the Holy Spirit by anyone who calls on Him to be saved (Romans 10:13).
35 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhat happened to Spongebob?
Spongebob Squarepants used to be one of the best shows Nickelodeon had (Late 90's/Early 2000's). For the past couple of years though, it's just seemed to go downhill. It's not really funny anymore and the humor is too gross and sometimes too adult-oriented. I've caught my nieces watching the new episodes and even THEY don't laugh as much at the new episodes as they do the old ones. Lately, I just flick the channel to something else when they're over because the new episodes are just TOO gross and creepy. Don't get me started on that episode of Squidward, Spongebob, the couch, and the toenail...I was born in '91, so I got to see all the cool cartoons growing up. In my opinion, unless these "new" producers make a change, Spongebob will not last much longer. What do you think?
4 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoWhy do people drink alcohol when...?
...it causes so much destruction? People get unnessisarily killed in car crashes, families are ruined by the sometimes abusive behaviors a drunken family member exhibits (rape, physical abuse, etc), gradual destruction of the physical body...I could go on and on. I've never drunken any kind of alcoholic beverage and never plan to. It alters your state of mind. It just isn't worth it to ruin your entire life just to get a "buzz." You only have one life...why ruin it? You only have one body on this earth...why destroy it?
**Proverbs 23:29-35**
" Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying: They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?"
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoA famous painting? 10 POINTS!!!?
I am totally blank as to the name of this portrait but it's pretty old.
Description: There is a bald grayish looking lady with a shocked expression on her face. I think she's wearing a black robe. The background looks like some kind of deck by a lake and the sky is orangish. It's a famous painting and people often use it in a humorous way to represent someone who's super shocked or surprised. Anybody know the name of this painting and who painted it?
2 AnswersPainting9 years agoQuestion about biblical...?
...contradictions? Someone, whom I'll leave anonymous, recently posted this as a contradiction and this person's contradiction didn't even make sense, in my opinion.
"And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that is was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." (Genesis 1:25-26)
"And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air..." (Genesis 2:18-19)
Now tell me how this is a contradiction. Both verses are saying that God made animals. In one verse it states God formed the animals out of the dust and the other verse just says that God formed every animal after it's kind (aka its family, genus, species). Nothing is contradicting. God formed every animal out of the dust and He made every animal after its kind. Simple.

10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoQuestion about Apple Co.?
Why does it seem like all Apple does is buffer up its already made products and then re-distribute them to the public? Then there's always some nerds (No offense nerds, cause I'm one too :p ) lining up at the door throwing away more cash to see the latest upgrade. Won't this upgrading and reselling process get old after a while?

15 AnswersPolls & Surveys9 years agoA question about ethnicity?
Why is it that anyone that is not of White/Caucasian descent is referred to as a minority? That person could be Black, Hispanic, or Native American and still be called a minority. In quantitive terms, "minorities" are actually the "majority." In social terms, if God created all men equal, then how can one ethnicity label itself as the majority?

4 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoWhy do many people think that...?
...Christians only believe in God because we were scared into belief by the fear of hell or because our parents rose us up in Christianity when that is not true?
While the thought of eternal torment can send chills up someone's spine, that's not why I repented. Even though my parents raised me up in a Christian home, that is not why I repented. I repented because God convicted my heart that I was a sinner and in need if the grace that Jesus died for to give freely to us. I repented because I allowed the Holy Spirit to enter my heart and clean up the mess within.

10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDo you believe that...?
...The reason why America has so much trash music (over-autotuning & senseless lyrics) circulating around right now is because people are just ignorant of what music truly is and came from? That there is a lack understanding because of a lack of effective educating in grade schools/colleges?

2 AnswersOther - Music9 years agoBusiness Math question??? 10 pts!?
So, this is a sample problem of what I'm trying to solve:
Say in 2011, your business makes 250,000 in profits, which is 13.7% (Of course you have to convert the percent to a decimal) more than last year. How would you figure out how much your business made in 2010?
2 AnswersMathematics9 years agoAre group projects in college almost unrealistic?
It seems like I tend to get get grouped with the people that never try to contact anybody or attempt to do anything (not to say that's everybody-some do try). Plus it is sometimes difficult for everyone to communicate. See, I go to a school where people have out-of-school lives. Some people have jobs or children and there are so many time/communication constraints. So my question is, are group projects nearly unrealistic in college?

This may seem like an insignificant question, but when does Gracias mean "Thank you" and when does it mean "Thanks?" Are they interchangeable depending on the situation or do they mean the same thing?
6 AnswersLanguages10 years agoDo you ever stop to think that...?
...if Jesus were not real, Christians would not be telling you about Him? That, in fact, we are not just trying to impose our beliefs or shove "religion" down people's throats? That there actually a reason why for centuries even to today, we have relentlessly been telling people about the love of God? That Jesus is real? Think about it, would Christians really walk around for centuries to tell people about an imaginary being? That would be a waste of time!
