Seem to have obtained a snail?
I have just bought a new fern for my cold water aquarium home to one gold fish (comet) and notice there is now a tiny snail on the glass. I didn't ask for it not sure what it is other than a snail and presume it arrived with the plant. It is less than half an inch from longest point to longest point.
What do I do??? Is it ok to leave it?
19 AnswersFish1 decade agoHave you ever heard of salt working to remove flukes?
Have you ever heard of salt to get rid of flukes on a goldfish? Did it work? May sound stupid but are they referring to normal table salt? If so what are the quantities?
5 AnswersFish1 decade agoThe drug Propiomazine.?
This is the drug that Kerry Katona admitted to being on during her car crash tv interview but a quick google and it doesn't seem to be very popular in the UK. It also seems to have a recommended dose of 40mg and she said she was on 150mg. Anyone know any more about this drug and more importantly the side effects and whether it could produce the behaviour of slurring, finding it hard to focus, gurning and heavy breathing? Or whether it is a drug that should be used when drinking (not sure if she drunk when taking it but admitted to getting drunk)? Whether it should be given to a recovered drug addict? curiousity is piqued now.
4 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoWhat would you like to ask?
Are you supposed to leave the filter running constantly in a cold water aquarium that is just being used for a common goldfish? It will be for 1 small goldfish (maybe 2 in time) in a 13 litre aquarium.
6 AnswersFish1 decade agoAre you scared of any of your children's toys?
I am posting this after reading betwixt and between question on annoying toys and Amdy's response of possessed toys.
My cousin is scared of clowns (I know I know grr to stephen king) and her daughter had a very expensive clown ornament/toy given to her that everytime you went into the bedroom would play a little music and turn its head to look at you.
I have a bit of a fear of walking dolls (I blame chucky - lol) and will do anything to prevent my daughter getting one. They walk at me as well - all the room they can walk to and they walk to me :(
So any that scared you?
15 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoCultural differences.?
I have noticed quite a few of cultural differences between UK and USA answerers.
These have included how to make up formula - i.e. with boiled water or not.
That macaroni cheese is not a pasta dish served with salad and garlic bread but something that goes with hotdogs????(is that right?)
What cultural differences have you found?
11 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow did you choose your baby's name?
Was it from a book, named after a relative?
My daughter has her first name from a book. Tried a female diminutive of my fathers name but with the strong regional accent of where we were living it sounded awful.
Her second name is grace because of the song 'amazing grace' she is my amazing grace, love that song and my dad did to so gave me a connection.
I would have liked to include grandmothers names but my cousin got in their first and robbed not only shared grandmothers name but also my paternal grandmothers name - was not impressed - LOL.
So a nice question before I go to bed how did you pick out your children's names?
25 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoFor baby led weaning mums?
This is by no way an attack merely a question. I would appreciate experience and links not cut and paste thank you.
If you give your baby 3 or more 'new' foods a day and they show signs of an allergy or it doesn't suit them i.e. rash around mouth or runny tummy how do you distinguish which of the 3 'new' foods caused it?

10 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoIs anyone watching pramface babies?
I hope the people in the US will be able to watch it on the channel 4 website.
So is anyone watching it what do you think?
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHas this every happened to you?
I have had questions deleted. One for chatting which I disagree but understand how interpretation of chatting can differ. I have also had a question about eating placenta deleted. This I have not only appealed but explained to customer services that the reporter has broke laws concerning racism by deleting answers from people explaining different cultures and human rights and freedom of speech laws by people posting about medical reasons. I don't know if the reporter is ignorant or a troll but this is one I am going to pursue.
Has anyone else had questions unfairly deleted and what were the reasons they gave? Did anyone have any success in appealing?
12 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoDid you eat it?
In my other question about forgetting said how I have a conspiracy theory that placenta contained my memory and they threw it away.
Now I know it is possible to consume the placenta and people have made pate out of it. Now I don't like pate and going to extent my theory that eating it will not help get your memory back - but back to my question did you eat it? Would you eat it? would you eat your own (your baby's really) or someone elses? If you did what was it like and why did you eat it?
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWhat do you keep forgetting today?
When I was pregnant I actually forgot my name - only for a few minutes but someone asked me and it was gone - couldn't remember.
Well we all know about mummy brain however, mine has not improved much (I do have a conspiracy theory that the placenta contains your memory and they threw mine away).
Today I keep forgetting to post my answers - I preview walk off to do something else and forget to post. I come back to the computer 2 minutes or 20 minutes later to find my answer sitting there unposted.
What do you keep forgetting today?
7 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHow did they cheer you up today?
Ok I have had a terrible day - really stressful with bad (disappointing news) ending in tears.
Once again my daughter (5 years) was there to offer me cuddles tell me that her day at school was far harder than my day at university and as usual generally cheer me up.
She finished off with going to the toilet before bed where she sang a little song of 'look, look, look in the toi toi toilet I have laid 2 eggs'. Well that did it was definately happier and laughing.
This is just todays escapades can list day after day but what have your children done today to cheer you up?
10 AnswersParenting1 decade agocould you explain it in thick terms for me please?
Ok have said learnt about relactation from YA - although it is not relevant to me and my daughter it still fascinates me. I have followed links provided but find it all a bit boggling - perhaps been out of the game too long. If someone could provide a dummy's guide would find it really interesting and valuable.
Thank you in advance for anyone with the patience and know how.
1 AnswerNewborn & Baby1 decade agoA repost from toddler and pre-school?
I am reposting this here because it is so busy and may get help from mums with older kids or just general advise - thanks
My 5 year old daughter is having 2 friends from school home to play tomorrow (they are still 4 but same year in school will be 5 soon). We have to walk nearly a mile home with them and all their lunchboxes, book bags etc etc.
One of the children is a bit of a runner - you know runs off here and there before you know it. I thought the other one was quiet and well behaved as in the past has always stayed close and held hands - but was warned today by her mother that she is not very good around roads.
We have to cross an extremely busy road to get home already decided would cross in a different place where there is a small island half way so only have to check traffic in one direction. Thought I would have the girl I knew to be a runner in one hand and the other friend holding the other hand and my daughters hand.

I am now starting to panic of whether I can keep them all safe - any tips would be appreciated. The house is also a tip because I have been so tired and busy lately
5 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoPurely hypothetical question on breastfeeding.?
This is not me or anyone I know and is purely hypothetical. If someone is a heavy smoker but prepared and able to breastfeed would you advise them to or to formula feed. Please just answer regarding breastfeeding not smoking around baby, smoke lingering on clothes etc.
Please no rude or nasty comments I am just interested in what peoples advise would be i.e. yes because.... or no because....
24 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoDid anyone watch bringing up baby? (TV programme UK few months ago)?
Did anyone watch bringing up baby and change their parenting styles or follow one of the principles after watching it?
7 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoWas your baby born with a manual?
I am a strong believer in instinct, sometimes that instinct is off and you need guidance from experienced people and professionals.
I am surprised at the amount of dogmatic people on here who do not appreciate babies are individual and have differing needs.
So are you one of those people? was your child born with a manual you stick to? do you class government guidance as guidance or gospel?
Just interested especially after getting thumbs down for providing my child with a healthy diet.
