Senior cat, post-cancer surgery, now hisses, growls and spits at tail, then attacks to point of shredding the tail. Cannot get her to stop despite application of soothing sprays, bacitracin and aloe ointment and other topical salves.

I want her to stop attacking it long enough for it to heal, so I can address the cause, which may or may not be a nervous condition.

1. I live alone

2. She is the only pet.

3. I am usually home whenever not at work.

4. She has a habit of attacking me while I sleep as she spins around to attack her tail.

5. She still has all of her claws.

Dating. Have been seeing a woman who has gone through a divorce in the last year or so. Also has just broken up with a man who she still has unresolved feelings for. Not worried about both of them. More worried about another relationship. Have discussed it with her, and have been assured there is nothing, but have trouble trusting this. We're both older and I am still dating around, so it isn't a committed relationship, but should I leave this if I have these issues ?
