  • Why does my keyboard and mouse suddenly quit working?

My desktop keyboard and mouse, for no apparent reason will just stop working. They stop working simultaneously and won't work again until the computer is shut off. Usually they will work again after turning it back on. This is happening more often. Someone mentioned to me that it could be the motherboard. Could it? Any ideas?

  • How long to recover the cost of a 90% vs 80% natural gas furnace?

I have fuel oil now and I'm looking to replace it with a gas furnace. I don't think I want to go with a 95% percent effeciently due the the difference in cost.

Does anyone have experience with the actual cost one would be saving by going with a 90% effecient vs an 80%?

  • MSNupdate!@#@.exe?

I keep getting a window that pops up that asks about continuing with MSNupdate!@#@.exe. It also says it is from an unknown source. I've done some research on MSNupdate!@#@.exe but I still don't know quite what to do. Some sites say to allow the update and others say not to. I'm running Vista. Some of the sites I've visited says that XP users do not see this message but Vista users will. Can anyone give advice?

  • Why are Americans not willing gun control laws?

We seem to accept other laws that violate the Consitution. For example, the Patriot Act and Military Commisions Act violate the 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendments. We seem to give these away freely. Why are we not protecting all 10 Amendments of the Bill of Rights, instead of just one?

  • Aluminum storm windows?

Any suggestions on how to clean aluminum storm windows? They are dull, dirty, and some pitting is occuring. I've been told steel wool. Good idea? If so, should I use a cleaning agent too?

  • Plans for 02:03:04 05/06/07?

I just heard a news clip about the numbers. It seems that the time 02:03:04 and date 05/06/07 has enough interest that it was on national news. So, is it significant to you? Are you doing anything special?

  • Can I use backup discs from another Toshiba computer?

I have two Toshiba laptop computers. I have backup discs for one of them. I have no sound on the other one and was wondering if I could use the backup discs from the one on the other one.

The one with backups discs appears to be older, but is running XP and has Celeron 1.5 ghz processor. The one with no sounds is running XP and has Celeron 1.4 ghz processor.

Or, do you have any other suggestions? The one with no sound does not play sound at all. No program sounds, won't play CDs, and the speakers make no sound at all. I checked the device and it says that it's working correctly. It also says that no driver is installed and either no driver is needed or the driver is not installed.

These are both previously owned computers. I need suggestions for a "fix". Thanks

  • Why does Y!Answers allow someone to have the same name?

I just clicked on a question to read more about it and maybe answer. I noticed that two other people use the same name as me. Most sites will not let you use a name that is already in use.
