  • I Dropped A Stitch While Knitting...?

So I am knitting a blanket, and I am only on the third row, but it takes about an hour for me to do each row because of the size of this project. Anyway, as I picked up my project, the end loop slid off and in my attempts to put it back on, it untwisted and I am left with a giant loop at the end. I have found videos showing how to fix dropped loops with a crochet hook, but most of those seem to be in the middle of the project.. I have no lower loops to hook into.

Here is a picture of the situation: http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr44/Rebellious...

Is it possible to fix this without starting over? If so, would you mind providing detailed directions? I am just straight knitting it for the border, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Also, I have only knitted two small projects before, so I'm relatively new to knitting and need thorough directions.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!

  • Punishment for covering up an accidental murder? --Any law students out there?

    Don't worry--this isn't about me! lol.

I am writing a fictitious story about an 18-year old girl who accidentally pushes her friend off a cliff, then tries to cover it up. In the end, guilt drives her to confess.

What would a realistic legal punishment look like in this situation?

The story takes place in New Mexico, if that makes a difference.

    Thanks!

  • Is it appropriate to answer the weakness question at a job interview with "interviewing?"?

If i were to say my weakness is interviewing for a job because I am not very good at talking about myself, would that be an appropriate answer, or would that reflect poorly on me?

  • Easy steak recipes for college student?

It's my boyfriend's birthday tomorrow and I really want to make him his favorite meal: steak and potatoes.

The problem is, I'm not a very good cook. Also, we are moved into our college dorms, so I am limitted to a stove and an oven (no grill). I've never made steak before, so if anyone has any easy step-by-step instructions how to prepare a steak and what seasonings to use or sauces or whatever, it would be VERY appriciated! I think I have the potatoes figured out... i was just planning on baking them in the oven, but i'm open to suggestions for those as well.

    THANK YOU!

  • Which laptop is better- the samsung R580-11 or Toshiba A665-S6050?

Don't just copy/paste the spec sheets, i've already looked those. I've also read reviews and they both sound like good machines, but I want to know what you all think.. which would you go with? I'm getting it for college so it will mainly be used to watch movies/tv, internet browsing, storing pictures and music, and word processing.

If you feel like suggesting another laptop, I for sure do not want a Dell, nor do I want anything less than an i3 processor and i want something relatively portable.

    Thank you.

  • Where can I find a cheap flight to Paris, France (details enclosed)?

I really want to go to France this summer from June 23 to Aug. 10 (dates flexible) to visit my host family I lived with last year. I'm looking for flights under $1,000 from MSP to CDG. I have searched cheap flights on google and looked through several sites, but haven't found anything better than $1100. Anyone know of some really good sites I should try? The one who finds the lowest fare gets a best answer, 5 stars, and a thumbs up from me :)

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • Help me decide on a prom dress-?

I have a few different ones in mind, but before I make my decision, I have a few questions..

-Will a poofy dress (esp. the FIRST and LAST ones linked below) make my 5"3' body look awkwardly short? Like, will I look midget-y or silly in a poofy dress since I'm already kind of short?

-I have light blonde hair and I would really like a yellow dress, but for some reason, I don't think it would look good with my hair.. do you think blonde hair and a yellow dress "clash"?

Here are some of the ones I'm looking at. I can chose the color, so it doesn't have to be the one shown. Your opinions are appriciated :)

  • Do I have a chance at getting into Boston University?

I really would like to go to college at BU next fall, although I've heard it's very competitive. I'm curious if I have a shot at getting in or not, so any BU students, alumni, or college admissions people (or anyone with a decent understanding of the school/college admissions) should help.

    -I have approx a 3.8 GPA

-I got a 23 composite score on the ACT (but I'm retaking it)

-I have a 1580 composite score on the SAT (retaking that as well)

-I've taken AP US History, Accelerated Sophomore and Junior English

-Credit wise I have 3 science (Physical Science, Bio, Chem), 4 English, 4 history, 3 math (Alg 1, Geometry, Alg 2; my last math class being summer after sophomore year..), 1.5 PE, .5 Health

-Electives include 3.5 credits of French, 1.5 Latin, 1 Chinese, .5 Photography, .5 Business & Personal Law, 1 Web Design, .5 Journalism, 3.5 Band, 1 Performing Arts, .5 Creative Foods, .5 Creative Writing, and .5 Psychology

-Extracurriculars: 9- Fastpitch softball spring & summer season, journalism, French Club; 10- Track, softball summer season, JCL, pep band; 11- French Club, JCL; 12- French Club, Art Club, Environmental Club,

-I spent my second semester Junior year on a 6 month foreign exchange program in France

    -I'm secretary of Art Club

-I've been in band ensemble competition; I also participated in a couple small activities through theatre (lip sync contest and production of comedy sketches).

-Jobs: tutored sophomore year; worked at a ballpark for a week during the summer before senior year

-I'm active at my church and went on a 2 week mission trip to Peru the summer after my Sophomore year.

I think that's about it.. I regret not taking another math class and I hope that doesn't hold me back like my parents think it will. I also regret not having taken part in many leadership roles, and I think it would probably look better if I'd have taken more AP classes.. but I'm hoping I might still have a chance.

    What do you guys think?

  • How do you get your parfum scent to last all day?

No matter what kind of parfum or body spray I try, I can't get the scent to last for more than a couple hours (no I do not smell, so don't give me some smartass response like that). It's really frustrating, so I was just wondering what works for you guys. How much do you spray on and where? Also, are there certain scents that stick better than others? Thank you!

  • I've been having really bad chest pain?

Yesterday, I woke up and I had chest pain in the upper center of my chest. It didn't feel like it was in my heart or lungs, but it rather in my muscles. I haven't really done much excercising lately that could have caused it, so I'm kind of scared. The pain runs down my breastbone and occasionally hurts under my ribcage. I have had slight trouble breathing, and a little wheezing. I have a slight cough, too. The pain is strongest when I touch or massage the area or if I stretch my arms. I took some tylonal last night and rubbed some aromatherapy on it, and that helped a little. This morning it started out better, but as the day has been going on, I've been feeling the pain more and have been having a little more trouble breathing. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? I'm 17 years old and a girl, if that makes any difference. I'm also in France at the moment, and won't be back in the States until July. While my French is pretty good, I'm a little tentitive about seeing a doctor and trying to explain my situation, so if someone here has an answer, I'd love to hear it. Thank you.

  • International calling/texting?

I'm going to France for a few months starting next week. I really REALLY want to have a cell phone while I'm there, but the companies that I looked into for international rates (Alltel, Verizon) are VERY expensive. Is there a US company out there with a decent priced international plan (where i don't have to pay for an expensive chip to go in my phone or outragious roaming fees)? Would it be better for me to get a Trac Phone when I get there? If so, can I text on a Trac Phone?

    Thank you!

  • I don't know what to do with my hair. Help?

I've got a hair appointment tomorrow and I don't know how I want it done, really.

Right now I've got blonde hair, medium length. It's naturally wavy, so I usually scrunch it in the mornings, although I like to wear it straight, too.

Here's a picture of what it looks like right now:

    curly: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=117cmbm&s=5

    straight: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=f0rz1k&s=5

Please no rude comments on my appearance. I'm only posting this so you can help me with the hair.

I want to get it cut so that I can still wear it both straight and curly. I'm also considering lightening it. I really don't know how I want to get my hair done or how much lighter i want to get it, though, but I think more layers would be good. What do you all think? I'm going to France in about a week and staying for a long time, so I want it cut so that it will fit in there, too. Any suggestions? Pictures would be nice (:

    Styling suggestions are welcome too.

Lol, I really suck at doing my hair.

    Thanks!

  • I have a couple strange questions about France..?

These questions probably have pretty obvious answers to most of you, but I've never been to Europe before, so I'm curious before I go on my trip to France..

    1) Can you drink the water out of the tap there? I've heard that drinking water in other countries can make you sick, so should I always drink bottled water, or does France have water pretty similar to American water?

    2) I've also heard that in other countries you can't flush toilet paper down the toilet because it clogs the plumbing. I reallyyyy don't want to find that out the hard way! lol.

Please answer one, or both questions if you can. But DON"T BOTHER TO unless you know the answer. I don't want someone to tell me "I think you can..." because that is no help to me.

    Thanks in advance :)

  • What color Ugg Boots should I get?

I want the classic tall ones, for sure. I can't decide on the color though. I have a lot of black clothing (Not gothic black, but like, classy black.), so I'm not sure brown would look wonderful, but I have a lot of black shoes already, so I don't really want to get black... Do you think I could make one of the tan colors work with blackk? Say a black top & jeans, or something?

  • Current teen fashion in France?

I'm going to France for 6 months and am really in a tie about what to wear. I'm staying in the Northern part about two hours away from Paris, so I'm not in Paris itself. I want to get some stylish clothes to wear while i'm there. I don't want to stick out as an American. I'm not super rich or anything, so try and send me reasonable suggestions. Please nothing that you would only see on the runway. We're talking teen clothing for school and maybe a special occasion, party outfits, or nights out with friends. Thank you so much.
