Miranda's Mommy
am I being unreasonable in requesting that my child not live with his girlfriend?
My husband and I are getting a divorce because he has now had a second affair. We have a almost 2 year old daughter that I am trying to put first in this. His affair started in January with a married woman 11 years younger than him who is also getting a divorce. She has 3 children the oldest two are with her weekends only and her youngest will be with her week days only. She does not have a set schedule at work and almost never is home on the weekends. He has been living with me until this week when her husband moved out and he moved in. I work 3 graveyard shifts a week and we had an agreement that at first he would continue to come here to be with his daughter. He has flip floped multiple times on this and wants her to be at his new house. My concerns are that his relationship has consisted of text messages and at work contact and a few dinners with this woman and I don't think it is in my daughters best interest to be moved in there yet. He will have to watch her older two children (boys) while she works. Our Original agreement that I am still willing to go with is he comes here those nights im working for a few months and then slowly adjust our daughter into being there. My reasons behind this are so he can get settled and the family can settle and if they decide they are not right for each other then it wont affect my daughter by getting attached to them. Am I wrong in this? I dont want to keep her from him at all I just want her to be protected from hurt. I know she will be affected anyway but I want her to get used to daddy not being here all the time before she has to meet daddys new family. They have only been seeing eachother for 2.5 months and I didnt know about it for the first month.
13 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agorenters responsibilities in Washington state?
I rent a house in washington state and my husband and I would like to do something about the front yard and would like to know what we are responsible to do vs what the owner of the house should do.There are multiple plants that keep growing in the middle of the grass and we cant seem to kill them for good. They seem to be mini trees. I am afraid that If I use weed killer on them it with torch the grass as well. We cant keep them at bay by pulling them and even with that it has a huge root system that leaves bald spots in the grass. We havent been watering the lawn much at all becasue it seems to only benifit the trees. Does anyone know if the owner is responsible for reseeding a yard in such a case or if I am supposed to front the cost.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoShould I buy a used Toyota Prius?
My husband and I are looking into purchasing a new (used car) and I have my eye on a 2008 Prius with 31000 miles on it. It is a dealer purchase with an additional warranty option. I probably wont get the warranty as the last time I bought one it covered everything on the car but what needed fixing. My question is what are peoples experiences with the prius and would it be wise to get a used one.
6 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agohas anyone had extra baby teeth?
My 12 month old went to her dentist monday and I was told that the two teeth that It thought were her incisors are really Mesiodens (extra teeth). They are fully formed if not a bit crooked and I thought they looked small. The dentist wants to wait for a few years to extract one of them but one is fused to the tooth next to it so they wont extract it unless absolutely necessary. They look fine just crooked but my question is has anyone had this or known anyone who has had it? Im wondering about how permanent teeth grow in later in those cases.
3 AnswersDental1 decade agoHow do you kill ants that keep coming back?
I have this area in my driveway that over the last two months has had three episodes of tiny black ants just pouring out. They seem to be just climbing all over themselves in a mad scramble but they start to head towards the house. We rent this house and so I don't know if this was a problem last summer. I have tried insect killer, blasting the crud out of them with a high power hose and they were back again today. I used more insect killer that says ants on it and really soaked the area. What else can I try if the little buggers come back? I have a one year old who I would like to let play outside and I also don't want them to infest my house.

So how do you ladies manage to pump at work? I was told by my supervisor to "just use the break room and cover up with a blanket". I find this very offensive. This is the same supervisor who refused to accommodate my doctors request I be put on light duty until I put in to go to another department for the last month.

2 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agonew parents biggest irritation?
Hi all. I have a 3 month old little girl and find some things truly irritating about how other people approach me about my baby. For example: her name is Miranda but we chose to call her Andi and I have had a few people ask my in a totally confused voice "Why do you call her that and not (fill in random nickname here)"
What is the biggest thing you have found irritating about other people and your little one?

6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade ago5 week old baby that fights sleep at night?
Hi. My Daughter is 5 weeks old and sleeps like an angel during the daytime nap hours and also sleeps great when she wakes up to be fed or changed in the middle of the night. BUT getting her to sleep at "bed time" even though she is tired, fed, bathed and fresh diaper is getting to be a huge ordeal. I have tried rocking, patting, singing, reading, rubbing etc. I have also given her gas drops and tried Gripe Water for any tummy upset she may have. She hates to be swaddled (and its too hot to anyway) and gets more frustrated if I give her her pacifier or try to nurse her for the comfort. My Husband wants to just let her cry but I cant handle that because I feel like a horrid mother if I do that this early on. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoKitty litter blues....... Help?
Ok I purchased an automatic litter box and its works fantastic... for one of my cats. The other one will urinate in it but the poop fairy seems to leave me a gift every night by the front door. This cat doesn't go out side and never has. I live in a third floor walk up so he wouldn't have anywhere to go if I put him out. My question is how do I get him to realize that the litterbox is his freind again. I have had him for almost 4 years and he has NEVER doen this before.

4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agowhy do people do this?
Ok background info.. I am 36 weeks pregnant and recently was put on light duty at work as i work 12 hour shifts in a busy ER. Now my coworkers are treating me like a leper and acting like im just being lazy and trying to get special treatment.
I am trying to go full term on this pregnancy and my doctor and I both feel like light duty is acceptable and i don't need to go out on leave yet.
My department is short staffed anyway as they need to hire 3 people AND tonight we are down 2 staff members out of 5. I feel like they would be happier if I had gone out on leave but that would make even more work as someone has to do the part of the job im cleared for anyway.
Someone even went so far as to say geeze don't get pregnant again.
the ones that are giving me a hard time have never been pregnant.
Sorry I know this kinda breaks guidelines as a rant but I had to get it off my chest.
7 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agorequest to have her in your thoughts?
My friend was pregnant with twins and at 28 weeks had to have an emergency c-section. Tragically she lost her little boy who weighed less than one pound. Her baby girl is doing well considering everything as she was 2 pounds 14 ounces. no question just a request for good thoughts sent to her and her baby girl for a quick NICU stay and a healthy life.
4 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoIs my boss discriminating against me becasue Im pregnant?
I work in a busy emergency room in the business office doing check in and check out work. I work 3 12 hour graveyard shifts a week. Last week I wound up in maternity because of pain. I was told to stay off my feet as much as possible (im 36 weeks along) but that I don't need to stop work.
The check out area is a seated position and I can do it easily with this restriction. My Supervisor is giving me a really hard time about it and saying that she needs a note saying i can be up for "blank" time then need "blank" time for recovery before I walk again. I gave her a note already stating that I need to be careful and do what I feel I can.
For those of you that are pregnant you know its not that simple and I have to listen to my body. My doc is mad and setting guidelines that I can only be up 20 min at a time and not more than 2 hours a shift.
My problem is that when others have been injured or sick she has not had a problem with them only doing checkout. It is not a requirement of my job to rotate to the other positions its just something we as coworkers usually do.
Oh and she suggested that I take my leave now. my doc has cleared me to work...

3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agowhy do people take all the joy out of TTC?
Seriously folk i read a lot of your TTC questions and it seems with all the charting and timing and temp taking and such that you are taking all the joy out of conceiving a baby and turning it in to WORK. Stress can cause you not to conceive and it should be fun and exciting not "ok honey we have to have sex between 2pm and 6pm tuesday" that is far too much pressure! i know the frustration it took me 3 years to conceive and not miscarry but we never made it a chore.
