To make a long story short, I am no longer with the father of my children, and he has since been put on social security disability. I am supposed to receive a small portion of his benefit per month for each child which amouts to a total of $40.00 (it's is actually on hold until February of 2013, that's another story). I tried to apply for Medicaid for them, but was denied since my husband makes slightly more than the Ohio poverty guideline. Is there any way I can try to get their father to be financially responsible for them in any way what so ever? Can I force him to pay at least half of their medical/dental bills?

Last monday I took the CSR test and had a brief interview afterwards. I was told that I passed the test, and that my qualifications would be forwarded to HR for review. I was also told that I would recieve an e-mail that would inform me whether or not I have been selected for a second interview. It is now Thursday, and I still have not heard back. When would it be appropriate to call back and check on my status? I don't want to seem pushy, but yet I want to seem interested. Any thoughts on this?

I absolutely love my fiance, and there is certainly no doubt about it. The problem I have been facing has been steadily emerging over the past year. He has 4 kids from 2 diff. women. The two oldest are wonderful. They visit us frequently and I love them dearly. The younger two are the problem. Their mother is a two bit hillbilly. (I went to high school w/her.) The kids are age 5 and 6, girl and boy. They are over-all happy children; it's not like they are MISERABLE brats, they're just brats. They tear my house up from end to end. They do not follow directions. They terrorize my kids. They get so hyper they actually hurt themselves regularly. I am not allowed to say anything to them because my fiance takes it so personally. I'm also not allowed to say anything to him, because we end up in huge fights. We have actually gotten into physical fights over this. He lets it go until he actually explodes and screams and sometimes curses them out. He disciplined them in the beginning, but that has steadily tapered off. I really need some help. I don't know what to do.

I live in Ohio (I'm not sure if the laws vary between states.) I have a 15 year old (10th. grade) stepson who has an IEP. The school has become very lazy about keeping his father informed about his grades. The only time the school communicates with us is through progress reports and report cards. The grades keep getting worse by the semester, and I'm afraid he's going to fail. Isn't it the school's responsibility to conform to his learning needs? Isn't that the whole point of the IEP? Is his failing the 10th. grade illegal? How can I address this matter and to whom? Thanks to anyone who has any information.
