  • Concorde wont start and kills when idle?

Be prepared for a long explanation.

The gear shift cable in my 2000 Chrysler Concorde (2.7 engine) went kaput about a month or so ago. Because of this, the car wasn't registering that it was in park, and thus I couldn't shut the car off completely. So until I could get it to a shop, it had to run on the battery.

Obviously, the battery doesn't run forever, and it died. When we tried to jump it and take it to the shop, it would jump, then rev up in RPMs, start shaking, and shut down. So we towed it to the shop.

When we got it to the shop they fixed the gear shift cable, charged up the battery, and sent me on my way. The car worked fine on the ride home.

The next day, I get in and start the car. The engine spins, and wont start. After about five minutes of this, I quit. Two hours later, I come back, the engine spins, finally catches fire. While idling, RPMs shoot up, car shakes and shuts off. Start up again, same thing. Start up again, rev it every few seconds and it stays on. Leave it idle and it shuts back off.

Come back the next day, wont start. Engine spins, but it wont start. Come back a few days later, and the engine wont even spin, it just clicks.

So I call a family friend and he says that a possible explanation is that because my fuel level is so low, I may have water in my tank that got in and froze in the fuel filter or fuel lines. He says buy HEET and add some HEET and gas to get the water out.

I did that, car still wouldn't start. Yesterday, I try jumping it and it goes from clicks to engine spinning, but it wont catch fire.

Today, I come out and it goes from engine clicks to no clicks at all. No headlights, no dome lights, no dash lights, no power locks, no nothing.

Anyways, I've read a myriad of different answers on this and haven't found a single thing that fits my exact situation.

What I've read basically says it could be the fuel filter, fuel pump, a vacuum valve in the engine, a master fuse, an ASD and fuel pump fuse, a battery issue, or an alternator issue.

My gut is telling me that my battery is either dead and I didn't let it sit long enough on the jumper before starting it, or the battery is just totally shot and I need a new one.

That said, my gut also says I'm not a mechanic, so does anybody have any suggestions?

Also, how would a bad battery effect the thing shutting off while idling?

  • Chrysler Concorde's RPMs go up while idle, then shuts off?

My questions is about my 2000 Chrysler Concorde. When I go to start it, it keeps acting like it's gonna start and then kicks back off. Yesterday, it did this, and then I was finally able to get it started. Every time it started however, it would kick the RPMs up to stay on, and then the car would start shaking and shut off.

If I gassed it, it would be fine, but if it stays idle, it shuts off.

Today I tried to start it, and it did the same thing where it makes the ignition noise but doesn't kick all the way in.

    Any ideas?

  • I love that Pens commercial where the fans wont leave?

Gotta love those great Pens fans! Best in the NHL! Which is why they were almost moved to Kansas City three years ago because they couldn't turn a profit. Oh... Oops.

  • Why are some Penguins fans so convinced Malkin wont move?

Saw someone's post about Malkin trade rumors and people were saying "Ray Shero would be crazy to do that." Really? Would he really be crazy? Pittsburgh's problem is this, they've got three great centers and ZERO good wingers to help out those centers. You don't have the Cap room to SIGN a star winger so you have to TRADE. They aren't gonna trade Crosby, so don't even bother suggesting this. That leaves Malkin and Staal. Staal, in my opinion, is the guy to keep. He's a MUCH better two way player and his points aren't far behind Malkin considering he's on the third line. Pittsburgh needs a star winger, and it's gonna take one of these guys to get him. That said, the fact that Staal gets paid 4.7 million LESS than Malkin is the deciding factor.

In my opinion, the best move Pittsburgh can make is to trade MALKIN to COLUMBUS for RICK NASH and FEDOR TYUTIN.

They'd get a star winger and a decent defender out of the deal. Nash put up 67 points in 76 games this year on one of the worst teams in the league. Put him on a line with Crosby and you've got a NASTY first line, with Staal centering the second line.

Like it or not you're not gonna find success when you've got 3 good centers playing with 6 sucky wingers. Either Malkin or Staal has to go, and Staal is the much bigger bargain.

  • Which team needs a new arena the most?

With Pittsburgh getting themselves a new arena next season which hockey teams now need it the most. I'm gonna say Detroit needs to get the hell out of JLA the most, and a close second is the Rangers in MSG.

    Any opinions?

  • About Criminal Justice/Psychology Double Major: Question for Officers/Detectives.?

So to give a little insight into this, I'm a Senior in High School looking to go to college for a Criminal Justice Major. I'd like to go into Law Enforcement and then become a Detective. (I'd like to apply for FBI, but that would be years from now and it's high hopes) My question is based on what I read when doing a little research, I saw something about having a Psychology Major can be an advantage when applying for Detective, (And FBI if you want to) because of the fact that it can deal with knowing what a criminal mind is thinking. So my question is, does a Psychology Major on top of a CJ Major give you an advantage when being hired and give you a better chance at getting the positions. I just want to know if actually doing the Psychology Major will help me at all.
