I have a perfect Husband and a perfect son. I am a proud atheist.
Which is less "bitey" a gerbil, hamster or white mice?!?
We are thinking of getting a rodent for our 5 year old (and for me lol) But we don't know which is less likely to bite and is genuinely the friendliest? I had gerbils as a child and found that they often tried to bite but we do not know much about hamsters or mice. And also if they are happier in pairs etc. Any advice or opinions appreciated
11 AnswersRodents8 years agoCan anyone advise me on my skin!?
Hello, basically my whole life I have suffered from spots I have never not had at least a few. I am 31 and am getting so fed up of it - at my age you shouldnt have to worry about your skin so much as I do. The worst part of my face is my forehead. When I wake up it looks even and smooth but as it goes through the day it becomes visibly bumpy with little spots all over it. They are not red but you can notice them. I dont know why my skin starts off quite smooth and gets worse through the day and this is EVERY day. I hardly wear make up so it isnt that and I have tried everything on the market. I have been cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturising diligently for months and month and months and it has made no difference at all. I honestly am getting fed up of it now. I thought about seeing the doctor but I would feel so vain going to ask about "bumpy skin"! If anyone can help or has any advice I will be so grateful. (Dont know if this helps but I have always thought I had quite oily skin)
1 AnswerSkin Conditions8 years agoNeed help with toilet training our 3 year old (please!!)?
Hi,
Our son is 3 and 6 months.
He refuses to sit on the potty but will sit on the toilet. He does wee on there but never poos (only once and by accident I think)
Occasionally he will say "wee wee" so we take him and he will most of the time wee on there and so we praise him and say he is a big boy. But most of the time we find his nappy is heavy throughout the day so he has been still weeing in there.
The last few days we have decided to take the leap and put pants on him. We ask him every half hour if he wants to go wee wee and occasionally he says yes and does go. Rarely he will say that he wants to go without being asked.
But today he has stressed me out a bit! So far in 3 hours he has gone through 5 pairs of pants and 5 trousers. He has sat on the toilet 2 times and weed but 5 times he has suddenly turned to me and pointed down to say he has weed.
I just dont know how to make him ask before he goes. Sometimes he does ask - but most times he just goes.
We are always praising him and saying that he is being a big boy and he looks so chuffed with himself but I can not see a light at the end of the tunnel and just need a bit of advice or encouragement that he will get there?!
Has anyone out there got any tips for us?
Thanks
9 AnswersToddler & Preschooler9 years agoIs this normal after fillings?
Hi,
Yesterday morning I had to have 3 fillings done. 2 were very deep and he said at the end that if I keep getting pain in this particular tooth then it may need to come out. Well once the numbness wore off I was in constant agony - but only with the other two teeth, the one he warned me about feels fine just sensitive to cold.
I took painkillers but the pain lasted all day really bad. Today it is still a constant ache but not as bad. But when I drink cold on that side im in agony again which lasts for about half hour and then fades to a dull ache again.
The problem tooth was the one that he attached a metal clamp to my gum and left it there while he filled the other two teeth and it was hurting a lot as the clamp was digging in my gum.
I just wondered if its normal to have this pain after? Since I had it done yesterday I have not been "pain free" yet although its faded slightly I think. My Hubby tells me its only been a day since I had it done and it will take a few days for my teeth to settle especially seeing as they were deep ones.
But I am PETRIFIED of dentists and am worried!

6 AnswersParenting10 years agoHow much would it be a build an extra bedroom on a bungalow?
We are looking to move but want a 3 bedroomed place. We are looking mainly for bungalows as I have MS. Its amazing how cheaper 2 bedroomed places are compared to 3 bedrooms. So does anyone know the rough price it would be to add on an extra room? Maybe there is a builder out there that knows or someone who has done it themselves?
Doesnt have to be a huge room just a basic bedroom size.
Thanks in advance
2 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling10 years agoReally worried after having my glucose level tested - help!?
Hi,
I have MS and weekly I go to the hospital to have physio and see a nurse. I have been going about 5 weeks and every week the nurse takes my blood pressure and checks my glucose level. Every week apart from one my level has been 2.7. Yesterday she also said my pulse was abnormal and my blood pressure (which is usually perfect and has been my whole life) was bad and she said that I will keep feeling dizzy when i stand up, which i have been for a while now.
She asked what i had eaten and said that it was fine and it would not cause such a low reading. She told me to have a diabetes blood test which I am having today.
The thing is, I have had numerous blood tests for diabetes in the past - the last was about 8 months ago approx. and it came back fine. But she seems so sure and said there has to be a reason for my readings.
I have had fatigue very bad for years which is why I have had diabetes tests before - but was diagnosed with MS last year so the fatigueness problem was explained (MS causes bad fatigue).
I am really worried now, she said not to - but how can I not be?! I have to inect myself every day due to my MS, so if I have diabetes as well then I will have to inject twice every day forever andI dont think I could cope.
My main question is is it possible to get diabetes when you have been tested before on a number of occasions and the last test was only about 8 - 10 months ago? And if its unlikely and I havent got diabetes then what else could be causing it?
I appreciate any help!
18 AnswersDiabetes1 decade agoDiagnosed with MS today....?
hi, I was diagnosed today with MS. Apparently I have relapsing Remitting MS.
I just cant seem to get my head around it and feel so numb at the moment.
The doctor said he wouldnt advise medication just yet but to wait until my next relapse and if it comes within 2 years then he would suggest the daily injections, but if it is over 2 years then to wait and see when the next relapse is.
He said on average a person with MS will need walking aids within ten years - is this a fact? Is it possible that mine will be so mild that I never need any aids or is it just wishful thinking?
I just need advice from other people who have this, I dont know what to expect in the future - will I end up in a wheelchair?
Also, everytime I walk even a short distance I get tingleness in my legs for an hour after - he said this is normal but I forgot to ask him if it is wise to not walk long ways as it can make it worse or if walking helps?
Also, I am constantly tired, is there anything for that?
Sorry if I sound all over the place but I just feel a bit lost and I have so many questions.
I am 28.
I would really appreciate any advice from anyone who has this, thanks
5 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoDoes this sound like MS?
Hi.
About 6 months ago suddenly both my feet went numb and tingly. Over the next few days it quickly raised to my chest area.
I had blood tests and they showed up nothing.
I went into hospital for 3 days and had a spinal puncture which showed normal. I had a spinal Xray and brain Xray and both showed a "smudge"
The doctors suggested it may be MS.
I have an appointment at the neurological clinic in a few weeks.
My numbness has since gone completely but every time I walk even a short way both my legs are tingly again for about an hour then it fades away. I also am CONSTANTLY exhausted and even 12 hours sleep makes no difference.
Does this sound like MS? I would appreciate opinions from anyone who has it or have any relations that has it, as the doctors never seem to give me any information.
Thanks

7 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoNeed help straightening permed hair?
Hi,
About 2 months ago I got my hair permed, I have given it a chance but I just don't like it and want to get it straightened.
I can't really afford salon prices at the moment and know that you straighten permed hair by combing perming lotion through.
What I want to know though, is the perming lotion that you buy in the chemists ok or is it a special one that is used?
Also would it be ok to straighten it 2 months after it being permed?
Thanks
4 AnswersHair1 decade agoWhats the best and easiest way to potty train?
Hi,
Our son is 19 months old and very intelligent (I know every mum thinks that but he really is bright)
We have bought him a potty in the shape of a car as he spends literally hours rolling his cars up and down watching the wheels! It also plays a tune.
My Husband and I have no idea how to potty train a baby at all! Can anyone with experience help us?!
Thanks
9 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoAre these the stupidest things that are written on foods/medicines etc.?!?
Hi,
I am always amazed at what is written on various products and wondered if you have any you would like to share?
Ones I have noticed:
I am on anti-depressants and the list of side effects say "may cause depression"......?
I had to have some sleeping tablets once that said in big letters on the box "May cause drowsiness" - I certainly hope so!
On a bag of cashew nuts was written "May contain nuts"!
Do they really think we are that stupid?!!
Has anyone else got any examples?
2 AnswersOther - Entertainment1 decade agoWhy does it feel as if my Nan has just died all over again?
Hi,
My Nan died nearly 7 years ago from a stroke.
We were VERY close, I saw her nearly every day of my life and saw her almost as a second mum to me. When I was little and I couldn't get my own way over something with my parents I would run to her and she would always understand me.
After she died i had to see a councillor because I convinced myself she wasnt really dead. I thought maybe the hospital had mixed up her records with someone elses and for some reason my nan now had amnesia (far fetched I know).
I think about her every day but yesterday my husband and I had a silly row (we were in a car accident 2 weeks ago and are both in pain from whip lash).
My parents took my husbands side and I just got up and left out the front door.
Before I realised where I was I was at my nans old house (I suppose sub-consciously I went to her because she would understand). I saw two people come out of her house and then I suddenly realised shes dead.
Since it feels like she has just died all over again, but this time I believe it, when before I always expected a phone call from the hospital saying she was alive after all.
It sounds really crazy I know, I just want to know why this has happened now and what am I going to do?
Thanks
4 AnswersFamily1 decade agoHELP Does anyone know the name of this chocolate/biscuit bar from the 80's?
Hi, I was at primary school in the 80's and my parents would make me a packed lunch every day.
Well most days they would put in this chocolate bar and the other day I suddenly remembered it (no idea why!)
It was gorgeous and I would love to see if it is still made.
Description:
It was the same size and shape of a club biscuit.
It had a "hob nob" type centre with a white cream running through the centre.
The outside was milk chocolate.
If ANYONE remembers it then please help me! I am going out of my mind here!
(Im from UK)
Thanks.
11 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoAt what age can my son have a pillow in his cot?
Hi,
Our soon is just over 18 months old and sleeps in his own room. Most nights though he is extremely fidgety and moves round so much that he wakes himself up.
Some mornings we put him in our bed for an hour or so and once he is laid on a pillow he fulls asleep straight away and hardly moves.
We think that if he had a pillow in his cot he would sleep so much better than he does now - but we are unsure what age is considered safe?
12 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoCould constipation be causing my leg numbness? Brain scan??!!?
Hi, for a week from my lower stomach down to my feet I have been numb and tingly. All blood tests are normal and all the physical tests were normal too. My doctor has now ordered an urgent brain scan which is really worrying me
Well, for about 10 days I have been a bit constipated. I go every two days or so but it feels as though I havent finished and is difficult. Could this be causing the numbness?
Also, what could they find on the brain scan - I asked the doctor whats the worst they could find and she fobbed me off!
2 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoCan anyone help? Numb legs for a week!! Getting worried?
Hi, a week ago I went for a long walk delivering leaflets up and down peoples driveways. I must add that i dont get much exercise and when I got back my feet were sore.
That night both my feet went numb and tingly - like when you have pins and needles and it just starts to come round.
Well the next day both feet and my right leg was numb.
The day after that both feet and legs were numb.
Now I am numb in both feet, legs and from the base of my back downwards.
Two days ago I had a slight backache and today the side of my right knee keeps getting shooting pains in it.
I went to the doctors and the hospital and they did a lot of tests and said that they are pretty sure it isnt to do with my brain and not neurological.
I had some blood tests and they were all clear except for low folate levels.
Basically, I am at a loss. I have heard about trapped and pinched nerves and wondered if it sounds like either of these?
And also what is the worst it could be? I am panicking that it will get worse and worse and I will end up paralysed.
Any help will be appreciated
2 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoCAN LOW FOLATE LEVELS CAUSE NUMB AND TINGLY LEGS AND FEET?
For a week I have had numb and tingly legs and feet. The doctor did lots of tests and I passed them all. All my blood tests were normal except that I am low in folate.
Could this cause it?
