  • Do your husbands annoy you with rude noises?

My husband is constantly making rude noises. All night in bed, he snorts. I've asked him to do something about his sinuses, but he says he can "live with it" - well it drives me batty! When he drinks soda, he loudly sucks it out of the can like a vacuum cleaner. He makes smacking noises when he eats. He was careful not to do those things while we were dating, but we've been married 5 months now and he's freaking driving me bonkers. I ask him to stop, and now he says that everything he does annoys me. Not everything annoys me - just the rude noises and the fact that he's taken up smoking again (I refused to marry him unless he quit because he's much older than I am and I don't want to be widowed too early). He's getting on my last nerve and I don't know how to get him to stop being so rude, without sounding like a nag.

  • Fingernails peeling, hair and skin looking dull, onset of acne?

At age 37, I've suddenly noticed my fingernails peeling, dull hair and skin, and the onset of what I think is acne. It's just isolated smallish red bumps that look like pimples without a head. The 'acne' is often on my neck, as well as my face.

I really can't think of anything that changed in my life that would lead to this. I've been working a lot lately (ER nurse) but my job is enjoyable and not too stressful - and I've always gone through spells when I had to work a lot of hours. I've been having difficulty sleeping for some reason. My diet hasn't changed.

Any idea what might cause this, and what to do about it? I'd ask one of the docs I work with, but ER docs don't know much about non-emergency skin things.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

  • Could you defibrillate somebody using a cow prod?

How many joules does a cow prod use? Could you defibrillate somebody with it? Any other household items which might work to defibrillate somebody in a pinch? I mean - in an emergency, if somebody's pulseless and CPR is in progress, there are only 4 rhythms they could be in: v-tach, v-fib, PEA or asystole. Big deal if you shock PEA or asystole - they're dead anyways. So if somebody collapsed herding cattle and a cow prod just happened to be handy . . . . Just curious - my husband's not laying on the ground pulseless or anything.
