  • In PHP can I capture a variable from a URL and then use that to determine what is displayed?

    I am trying to avoid setting up a database for this, I know it would be better. I just want something fast and easy.

    I have a page of coupon offers and I want my index.php file to display them all when no url parameters are added but when someone puts ?city=NewYork for instance I want to display only those that are relevant for New Yorkers. It seems to be working, but I am only getting the first city's HTML every time, is something missing?

    My code looks like this.

    <!--Start code-->

    <?php

    $city= $_GET['city'];

    // The value of the variable name is found

    echo "<h1>" . $_GET['city'] . " Offers</h1>";

    if ($city = 'NewYork') {

    print "New York HTML here";

    } elseif ($city = 'Boston') {

    print "Boston HTML here";

    } elseif ($city = 'Austin') {

    print "Austin HTML here";

    } elseif ($city = 'WashingtonDC') {

    print "WashintonDC HTML Here";

    } else {

    include 'directory.php';

    }

    ?>

    <!--End code-->

    Directory.php is my default landing page.

  • 2001 Lumina won't go in reverse after sitting without running for several years?

    I have an idea of what I think the issue is but I don't want to say what I THINK it is because I could be wrong and it might influence the answers. The car has sat for about 5 years and I can get it to start by jump starting it. It will go forward, but it is in a garage so there is only so much you can go forward. Reverse doesn't work though. It feels like the brakes are stuck on. I just want to get it out of the garage and donated or out of my hands no matter how you look at it. Does anyone have any idea what might be stopping the reverse motion and what I could do to fix it. If not, do you know who I could call to help me? I am not a car person.

  • Can I author a disc with Adobe Encore CS6 that is playable in USA & Africa?

    I am shooting a friend's wedding and building them a wedding DVD and or Blu-Ray. Will they have any issues playing a disc burned in the US? I'm thinking if I don't set a region for it I'll be OK, but does anyone know for sure. I'd hate to have my friends pay the freight then not have their parents be able to play the DVD.

  • What Adobe product can create dvds?

    So the question is a little bit misleading. Here is some clarification. I am looking to create promotional DVDs to advertise my web design service and hand out dvds at a tradeshow. It seems to me like the answer is Encore with help from Flash, Photoshop and others, but is there an Adobe product that is built to just do this? Thanks. Oh and by the way I have the Creative Cloud.

  • what can I do for insurance?

    I'm self employed and my pregnant wife holds our insurance since I was layed off from my full time job a week ago. Radical changes have gone on at the company. She needs to get out but feels like she's stuck since we "need" insurance to have a baby. What can we do? She needs to get out for the sake of the baby.

  • Do you have old photos and negatives that are wasting away?

    I have a business which mostly designs websites for companies. I'm trying to decide if I want to spend a few hundred dollars and get a negative scanner to be able to offer a service to convert customers negatives to digital format. Does this sound like something you'd pay for? My messaging talks about losing precious family memories forever. Would you pay to have boxes of photos and negatives scanned and stored on DVD? How much would you pay? I'm thinking a dime a picture. Thanks!

  • What is the best way to wirelessly transmit video with audio?

    I am working in a building where we have a camera set up and where we want to transmit signal from that camera to another room and display it on a tv. It needs to be simple to operate and just work. The one transmitter will need to feed three different receivers. Each further away that the previous one. The first one is probably 40 feet away, the second is 100 feet away and the third is 150 feet away. None of them have line of sight. Powerline networking isn't an option due to the circuits that the different outlets are on, so I'm left with 2.4Ghz band communication with dedicated transmitter & receiver devices, or wifi communication. The down side about wifi communication is that I don't want to have a computer at each TV so I'd need a dedicated device. Any recommendations for this I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

  • Schedule content to be displayed with mysql and php?

    I want the PHP script to check what the current date is then pull data from my database that I've scheduled for that date by adding a record with that specific date. • How do I include information from a database on a different server?

    The title may be misleading, but what I want to do is display a daily deal with text and image urls from a database. I can do this on my own website, but I want to make a "widget" available for others to promote my deal which means that it goes on their server, but contacts mine to get the daily deal information. I'm having trouble figuring out the code for that. Ultimately I will build it into a flash piece, but for now I'd be happy just being able to do it with an iframe and html. Thanks!

  • What is the best way to store HD camcorder video online?

    By it's nature HD video consumes a lot of storage space and I'm finding that the quality video I want is producing files larger than 4GB so DVD for storage won't work. I don't wan tot compress the video so I'm interested in seeing if there is a website that would let you load your video file up to the cloud and if there is a service that will burn it to BluRay for a fee. I was hoping snapfish would do that but it seems like they don't. Does anyone know of a service that does this?

  • For people who have visited Hawaii. Where is a good place to stay?

    Trying to pick a hotel/flight package on a budget and wondering if anyone know of a great hotel on Oahu. Trip for 2.

  • Which Hawaiian island should I visit?

    Planning a trip in late August and I'm thinking of going either to Oahu or Maui. I've heard that Oahu can be crowded, but I like some of the things to do there. I don't know a lot about Maui, but I hear it's nice too. A few things we want to do is see dolphins, relax on the beach, go to a lau. Also a concern is the transportation systems on the islands because we don't want to go through renting a car.

  • What are some great vacation spots?

    My wife and I are looking for a good spot to vacation in the lower 48 states. We were thinking Orlando and doing the DisneyWorld thing, but want some other ideas. Maybe a beach or another place to relax. We're looking to go in mid March and hope it's warm, maybe the upper 70s (escaping MN). Any suggestions? Please be as specific as possible.

    My vision is getting bad and I am going to need glasses. I just get weirded out about anything touching my eyes. What do they do at an appointment with an eye doctor like a place like Lenscrafters? What should I expect?
