How long can a lacrosse helmet be used?
I run a youth lacrosse league and we reuse the helmets each season for the kids. How many years can you use a lacrosse helmet for before it is advisable to replace them? What sort of maintenance should I perform on the equipment each season before we issue them?

4 AnswersAgriculture1 decade agoHealthy snacks for kids sports games?
I am sick of it- every time my kids runs around for more than 5 minutes on a sports field someone brings Dunkin' Donuts. I always bring fruit, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for healthy snacks other than fruit that we could bring to games?
4 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhen is it time to seek professional help for a child?
My 3 year old daughter has had a tuff time with her health- and as a result has had more than her fair share of doctors, hospitals, tests, poking, prodding, etc. she is petrified and usually cries until she throws up when she even sees someone in a lab coat at this point.
recently- she had a fall. she put a bad cut on her chin and had to have plastic surgery. b/c of her age, weight and health they strongly recommended that we didn't put her under so instead she had local anestesia. we held her down as she screamed bloody murder and the doctor spent 45 minutes stitiching up her face.
since then, she has been withdrawn and quiet. i know that kids go thru this stuff all of the time, but i am getting worried that it might have really effected her in some way. are there any mental health experts that can tell me what i should be looking out for, what sort of help i might want to get her, and when?
3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhat is a "normal" number?
So if you are normal man living in New York City, and you have been single for 15 years- what is an acceptable number of women to have slept with? 100 seems like a big number at first glance- but we are talking 15 years. Serial monogomy adds up fast. Plus weekends in the hamptons, vacations, old friends from college you run into, fix ups, drunken mistakes, etc. it's easy to sleep with 150 women unintentionally.
So what is an acceptable number? Now that I am in a serious and personal relationship- if the question is asked, can i say "I don't know 125 to 175" and not be dumped?
19 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoEnvironmental consciousness at work?
I'd like to introduce new behavior at work to prevent all of the excessive waste that occurs. Here are some of the things i'd like to do- would like to know what seems ok and what might turn people off.
1) suggest that we supply filtered water rather than the cases of bottled water that we do now.
2) ask that recycling recepticals be provided for the tons of white paper and news paper that is discarded into the garbage each day.
3) ask that people turn off the lights in their office and their computers at night- or have timers to do so.
4) ask that they turn off the heat/ ac at night. also ask that they stop air conditioning the office to 65 degrees.
5) ask that they provide storage for bikes and a place for those who want to commute.
6) provide cloth bags for those who walk out to get lunch- so they don't have to use plastic bags that just get thrown out.
I have a bunch more but u get the idea. I don't want to piss people off that i work with- but the behavior here sucks.
2 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoVince Vaughn ESPYs sketch?
A few years back Vince Vaughn did a sketch on the ESPYs where he played an agent that was trying to sign kindergarteners. It was probably the funniest thing I have ever seen but I can't find the video anywhere on the interenet. Anyone that can point me to it or can send it to me gets 5 points.
1 AnswerComedy1 decade agoim rich- prenup?
sorry if the headline sounds immodest. im 26, engaged and my family thinks i should get my fiance to sign a prenup. seems like a terrible idea to me. if she's really in it for the money- she can have it. told my family that i will write her a check for 1/2 of my net worth- and tell her if she's in it for the money she should take it now and save us both the headache. i honestly would be happier to give her the money and avoid marrying someone who is in it for the money.
everyone has an opinion. i've heard:
'she's going to be more insulted than if u asked her to sign a prenup'
'even if she just wants the money- it's too uncomfortable to take that kind of deal'
'you are a moron that's a lot of money'
'you are a wierd control freak and this is a nasty game/test to play on her'
'she doesn't realize that she's in it for the money- just get away from that golddigger'
and a million other things. she's really great i don't know where this is all coming from. any advice?
19 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoNeed advice- at a crazy paternity crossroads?
After we had our 3rd child my wife asked me to have a vasectomy, which I did. She's now pregnant with our fourth. She says somehow my vasectomy didn't work. Everyone else I know says she's been running around. I feel like a Jerry Springer guest.
She refuses to have a paternity test. I have to say in her defense that she hardly has time with 3 young kids to cheat. Threatening to leave in not realistic- I want to be with my kids so I ain't going anywhere?
I'd like some advice- what shoudl I do? No wise guy answers please.
17 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoCan't get rid of this pacifer?
My daughter is 4 1/2 years old and she still uses her pacifier at night to sleep (and any other time she can sneak it). The doctor told us that we should put the hammer down when she turned 3, but there always seemed to be something that prevented us from doing it. She is not open to the idea of getting rid of it- there is no reasoning with her. Anyone had success? HELP!
29 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoEmployer didn't keep their end of the deal- should I sue?
When I was hired for my current position, I was told that I would receive a percentage of the revenue i generated for the firm- 15%. In 2006 I had a very good year but at bonus time my employer explained that the division had a bad year, and instead paid me only 5%. The dollar difference was 7 figures.
I considered suing them for the difference, but I thought that it would be too much of a disruption in my life. Plus, i didn't have a committment in writing- only verbal. Has anyone ever sued their employer? any advice?
7 AnswersFinancial Services1 decade agoBaby bath- not sanitary?
We have been bathing my 4 months old son in our kitchen sink in his little seat. I get worried that it's not sanitary b/c of all of the dirty dishes and stuff that passes through there- so I do a very thorough scrub down before bath every nite. He's been getting a rash- and I'm worried that the soap that I am using to clean is irritating his skin.
Anyone have any idea what I should do to make it clean but not iritating to him?

8 AnswersFootball (American)1 decade agoWhat do u think of this methodology?
Trying to create a pricing model for homes in the tristate area. I haven't calculated the coefficients for the regression- but i was going to start with structure
price of house = a(house sq feet) + b(land acreage) - c(avg train commute to nyc) - d(pv of property taxes)
are there any other factors u think will have significant explanatory power? # of bathrooms, # of bedrooms, age of house, some sorta rating or score for school district quality (think this might be at least partly explained by property tax), etc. any suggestions?
the point of this is two fold- first i figure if i can create a high r2 regression- i can find which neighborhoods are over/undervalued. secondly i can determine how well a house is priced within that market.
i ain't exactly a mathmatician- so all comments are welcome.

6 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoAddressing a child's racial comments.?
My (caucasian) four year old daughter, while looking through an American Girl catalog today, pointed out a African-American doll and called it 'yucky'. She added that the doll was 'bad' but wouldn't explain why she felt that way when I asked her.
I almost flew off the handle but realized that I want to address this in a constructive way. I'm just not sure what is the best method. Any suggestions?
Not to be defensive but there is nothing that my wife or I have done to put this sort of thought in our daughter's head. Our friends are racially diverse. Has our colorblind approach to the world left some ambiguity about how to preceive racial differences?
