  • What could be causing my lower inner leg pain?

This pain just appeared a few days ago while at work. It can be agonizing, and only hurts with weight bearing. Not in the joint, but just above the ankle on the inside of my left leg. It's not tender or swollen or warm, and it's not in the meaty/muscle part of the calf. Flexing my ankle does not make it worse. Walking on it doesn't seem to make it worse, exactly; walking and standing are just the only times I notice that anything is wrong.

Ibuprofen makes it disappear completely, but it comes right back as soon the anti-inflammatories wear off. I've tried ice, I've tried heat, elevation, and compression. The ice does nothing; the other things help somewhat, but only the ibuprofen seems to have a really good effect.

    Any ideas?

  • What foods pair well with Bailey's Irish Cream?

I've thought of chocolates and cheesecake. Also coffee, though it's not *technically* a food. This is for a gift basket; I'd like something less obvious than these ideas.

    Any suggestions?

  • Sauce for handmade roasted red pepper pasta?

What kind of sauce should I make for this handmade roasted red pepper fettucine that we picked up at the market today? I'm considering something like a dijon mustard sauce with white wine and green onions.

    Any other ideas?

  • Mucomyst with Atrovent?

We're having a little debate here at work:

Because mucomyst when inhaled can trigger bronchospasm, we always co-administer or pretreat with a bronchodilator. Does the bronchodilator have to be a beta agonist? Some of us say yes, because it's the quickest acting or because anticholinergics (Atrovent) can be drying. Others of us say that any short-acting bronchodilator will do, including Atrovent.

    What say you all?

  • XP "forgets" password (NOT a password recovery question)?

Please note: This is NOT a "help me break into my account" question.

I'm running XP Pro on a laptop. Recently, I enabled the password feature on my User account. It worked as it ought for a couple of days, then one day I lifted the lid and it did not ask for a password. It is set up to never expire, and the laptop is set to enter sleep mode when the lid is closed and to require a password on waking.

So it keeps doing this. Sometimes it's a day or so before the password just disappears, sometimes it will do it within minutes.

When I go into the user object, it is actually showing that there is no password set even though I have set it from there.

    Any ideas?

  • Critical (terminal) pH on abg?

Ok, Respiratory Folks. I don't have my reference materials where I am; who can remind me what the critical pH is; that is, the pH (on ABG) below which brain death occurs?

    Thanks!

  • Construction in apartment - entitled to rent reduction/credit?

The building in which my dad lives is having some work done. This work requires that they rip large portions of his ceiling out and leave it out for a week or so. The work does not directly benefit my father's apartment only. There may be some materials, and certainly some mess and gaping holes in the ceiling, for the duration of the project.

His question is: Is he entitled to some sort of rent reduction or credit due to this inconvenience?

(ps - He lives in Ohio.)

  • What are some causes of decreased manual dexterity?

Over the last year or so, I've noticed a slowly declining level of manual dexterity in both of my hands. I've always had problems doing anything that required a sustained grip or repetitive motion, but lately I'm having to use two hands where I used to be able to do something with one; some actions just seem "too complicated" now. I make more mistakes typing, too, and notice that my hands get tired more easily. Example: I am not known for being a clutz, but I was in a store last week and couldn't place an ornament back on the display by its ribbon loop; it fell to the floor and shattered. I wasn't being careless; I really just couldn't get the loop over the hook.

This doesn't seem to be constant; the problem waxes and wanes, and seems to be worse at *that* time of the month (but isn't everything?)

  • What is there to do on the west side of Cleveland for a middle-aged married couple?

We're not into bars or boozing. We'd just like some activity where we can get out of the house on a Friday or Saturday evening and maybe even have a little fun. We're looking for something casual/laid back. Any ideas? It doesn't have to be food related.

Does anyone know of a site online selling jewelry that looks like fishing lures or fish hooks? What I'm looking for would look like a treble hook had pierced the wearer's ear.

  • Covered Porch Floor Replacement?

    Ok, here's the situation:

I have a covered porch on our house, and I need to replace its floor. Facts of concern:

    * It is a covered porch. There are four columns between the floor and roof, but I don't know whether they are actually supporting the roof.

    * It is currently floored with 1/2" plywood, which is rotting. No standing water involved; the texture prevents proper drainage and led to rot.

    * Under the porch is a basement room complete with wiring and such.

We had planned to use oak tongue-in-groove, but have been warned away from it. Now we’re not sure what to use – we just know we don’t want to use plywood.

    Our questions:

    1. If I assume those beams are supporting the roof, I’ll need a jack. But what jack? Where do I rent one?

    2. I thought about using a thin plywood layer under some cement board, but what could I put on top, other than tile?

    3. Anybody have any other ideas for flooring? Where to get TIG cedar in Cleveland?

    Thanks!

  • Replacing my covered porch's floor?

So I have a covered porch on the front of my house; it's 10' deep and 40' wide. The second story of the house overhangs the porch by a foot and a half or so. There are four wooden columns, not particularly anchored or anything, that run along the front of the porch between the floor and ceiling.

Now, when we bough the house, the owner had just put a new "floor" on the porch. It is made of painted plywood, and (no surprise) is rotting. We need to replace it.

We intend to use hardwood; probably tongue-in-groove oak. (Oh, by the way, there is an actual room underneath the porch that is just used for storage. Not really relevant to my question, though).

Anyway, will I need to jack up the roof when I go to pull the old flooring and remove new? I'm assuming that these four-inch wooden columns that are available at Home Despot are not load-bearing, but do I need to support it anyway? What do I use?

  • Seafood Pizza Recipe?

I don't care what kind of crust I have to use (I'll probably buy a Boboli or use a premade dough). I'm looking for something with an cream sauce as the base, no pineapples or anything. Most of the ones I've seen have spinach and crab and shrimp, but what am I missing?

  • What is this virus? (Stomach)?

My husband and son both had a stomach/intestinal thing which for each of them lasted for about a week. I seem to have gotten it, but it's hitting me MUCH harder. I felt fine yesterday morning, had one soft stool and then one loose one, and then my stomach started hurting. Finally last night I vomited, and it was a brown sludge (probably owing to my morning coffee). Little was well digested, though I had last eaten over ten hours prior. Even this morning, I can tell my breakfast banana isn't sitting well. The only other thing I'm taking by mouth is Gatorade.

I have other typical virus symptoms, too: aches and pains all over, low grade fever, MASSIVE headache, creaky joints. Since my stomach just doesn't appear to be working at all, I'm afraid to take Advil or anything.

Anybody know about some nasty stomach or intestinal thing going around? I'm in Ohio.

Also, when do know it's safe to eat again?

    Thank you.
