dog obsessed with ripped tennis balls?
Recently my black lab mix, just under 4 years, has become obsessed with ripped tennis balls at the dog park. To the point were he no longer plays with other dogs or runs around while we are there, he just finds a ripped tennis ball (there are a lot of balls left in the park) lies down and chews them. He won't let them go and even with treats is super reluctant to drop them and if he does, will run back to them the second he gets the treat or what not. My question is if anyone has a way to make it so he's not so interested in these balls, they are all over the place at the park so I can't get rid of them but with the way things are going it's getting to the point where it's pointless to go the dog park because he doesn't do the two things we went there for (running around and playing with other dogs). I've tried treats to lure him away as well as cutting up some tennis balls at home to play with (hoping that if he had them at home to play with he wouldn't care as much about them at the park) neither have worked and I'm not quite sure where to go from here. Any suggestions?
3 AnswersDogs10 years agogurgling sound in hot water baseboard heat?
I live in an apartment and have noticed that whenever the heat is turned on and while its running you can hear the water moving through the pipes. I have heard people talk about bleeding the lines to get all the air out and was wondering if it was a big deal or not? is it more efficient with the air out? does it hurt the boiler? I don't have access to my heater since it's an apartment building so I would have to talk with the landlord but if it's not a big problem I can live with the sound of the moving water. Thanks
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agojeep grand cherokee squeaks in cold weather?
I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee and now that the cold weather is coming in new england I've noticed that every time i go over a bump, pothole or what not the car squeaks. Its seems to be predominantly the entire front end (not just the passenger or driver side), I noticed this last winter but it was only here or there however this year its pretty consistent on every bump on the road. I've reached the point in the maintenance schedule where it recommends lubricating some parts and didn't know if this could remedy the situation or if i have a bigger problem. any thoughts are appreciated thanks.
5 AnswersJeep1 decade ago1997 bmw 540i reliability and part question?
I am looking at buying a 1997 bmw 540i with a 150000 miles on it and wanted to know what the reliability of the car is and how much more I can get out of it. Also, the owner said it needs a new transmission module sensor and said the local AAMCO transmissions said it would cost about $167 for the part and another $125 for labor, does that seem reasonable? or is this a bigger problem? If I end up buying it I would bring it to a local garage to have it checked out first but wanted to get your guys opinions
4 AnswersBMW1 decade agonew dog vacines?
Hi, I recently just got an approximately 6 month old lab mix from a local rescue shelter and they didn't know if he was up to date on shots. I am making a vet appointment for him tomorrow if we can get in but just wanted to know what I was in for. This is my first dog and I didn't know if they can tell if he's had certain shots already or if I just have to give them all to him again. The rescue place said that he was just dropped off at the shelter a few days ago and had been neutered before being dropped off, they said if the previous owner had taken the time to neuter him they might have given him shots but they didn't know. Also, about how much should this cost? for a check-up and all the shots? just to have a ballpark figure before going into the vet. Thanks
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoJeep oil pressure problem?
On my drive home the other day I realized my oil pressure gauge in my '99 grand cherokee was maxed out, usually it runs around 40-60 but the needle was at 80 (the highest it goes to). I recently had the jeep in the garage two days ago to replace the brake lines as well as some other work totaling just under $1000, then ended up driving home from ri to vt during the winter storm (took 10 hours), been trying to research it and haven't found a lot about it. could the oil pressure valve being stuck cause this much pressure? is it just a bad reading which in that case i can wait to have fixed till after the holidays...I did end up driving the car the 10 hours with the gauge reading 80 and nothing has happened however I didn't really have a choice and don't want to push my luck. also, where is the oil pump and pressure sensor located? is it somewhere easily accessible i can't seem to find a good diagram of that either. Thanks for the help
2 AnswersJeep1 decade agoJeep brake line cost?
ok so i wrote last night that on the way driving home my brake petal went flat and my brakes pretty much didn't work, so I looked at it today, and found that when I step on the brakes the fluid is actually coming out from a rusted line coming from the front going to the back two brakes (right under the drivers door easily seen), so i'm assuming that if i replace that line i should be fine, my question is Im in RI for school and don't know any mechanics around here about how much would it cost to replace this so i can have a ball park going in and try not to get ripped off. O and its a '99 jeep grand cherokee. Thanks for the help
2 AnswersJeep1 decade agojeep brake problem?
ok so i was at a light tonight and my brake petal went flat, my brakes still work but very poorly, I checked my brake fluid and it is low (below the low line) to be honest I have never checked the brake fluid since I bought the car 2 years ago, its a '99 grand cherokee, also the brake fluid it very dark brown, is it possible that my brake fluid could have just gotten low over time and caused my brakes to die suddenly at the stop light or did something break and caused the fluid to drop drastically? its 1am so i can't see if anything is leaking i'll check tomorrow morning though
5 AnswersJeep1 decade agoTattoo opinions?
Ok so i've been interested in getting a tattoo for a couple of years now, ever since my girlfriend got one two years ago. The problem is my parents really don't like tattoos and i know they would be mad if I got one. Anyways the tattoo that i would get would be my last name down my side (down my ribs) First i really like the location because i can cover it up when i want to and its not as common (b/c yea i know it will be more painful) also I want to get my last name because family means a lot to me and I'm very proud of my heritage, one of the reasons i haven't gotten a tattoo was because i never had an idea that meant something so much to me (i don't want something random i wont like in 10 years). I've drawn out how i want it and it's been hanging on my wall for two months now while i debate it. anyways just wanted to hear peoples opinions, let me know
8 AnswersTattoos1 decade agoplanet question?
ok my first main question is about the new planet definition, recently the 2006 definition of a planet stated that it was a celestial body that:
is in orbit around the Sun,
has sufficient mass so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape, and
has "cleared the neighborhood" around its orbit.
b/c of this and other reasons pluto is no longer considered a planet. I was wondering though why isn't neptune no longer considered a planet due to the fact that pluto's orbit intersects with neptunes stating that neptune has not 'cleared the neighborhood' around its orbit therefore not qualifying all three statements of a planet.
also on an aside note because Pluto's orbit intersects with Neptune's technically Pluto was the 8th planet in the solar system from 1979 to 1999 and Neptune was the ninth, did I just fall asleep in class and missed this? b/c I don't remember teachers telling me this....was that common teaching? or did they just leave that out as to not confuse us.
8 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agogetting a dog?
I want to get a dog preferably a 1-2 year old dog one thats young but not a complete puppy. The problem is most shelters reject me because I'm 20 years old and live in an apartment. I go to school and live in an average sized apartment 1100sq feet, I also live a few blocks from a park and go for daily runs in the morning (in which the new dog would come with) I thought this would be a good time to get a dog b/c my parents still cover most of my expenses so there won't be a problem there and with college classes I would be gone a max of 3 hours instead of leaving for a 9-5 job everyday, not to mention my roommate will be in and out as well. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, most breeders just have puppies which im not really looking for and most shelters don't think i'm fit for a dog. I would like to help out the shelters but it's getting to the point where I might end up getting a puppy any suggestions?
26 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCan't log onto Second Life?
So I just downloaded second life the other day and I haven't been able to log in. Every time i log in it gets to 'waiting for region handshake' then it says 'unable to connect. login packet never received by login server.' Is this a problem with the server or with my computer. I went into the windows firewall and made sure the program was allowed, however my computer came pre-installed with anti-virus wear so i'm unsure if I need to change something else. I've searched my computer and virus wear and can't seem to find where else it could be blocked by me. Any info would be helpful thanks
3 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agojeep output speed sensor?
I had posted earlier about my 1999 jeep shifting weird and the check engine light pointed to the output speed sensor. Which turns out is a common problem. My question is first Autozone sold me a sensor but apparently they have sold the wrong one to other people before, the one they sold me has an electrical plug on one side then just threads on the other, If i understood right its supposed to have a larger top piece for bolting it onto the car not just threads? (it would be nice to know before I pull out the old one and realize i don't have anything to replace it with) Also, I was wondering if driving my car with the bad speed sensor in it and it's somewhat choppy shifting is really bad for the car/transmission itself? I don't have the tools with me (im at school) to replace the part and am wondering if a 2 and a half hour drive home during thanksgiving would be bad (i wouldnt use the car much until then maybe several trips here and there). any input is appreciated thanks.

1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission problem?
I was on my way back home today, while accelerating from a red light the car wouldn't shift into second gear. I pulled over and stopped for a minute but still the same problem. I turned the car off and waited a few minutes, started the car up again and it started shifting again. I didn't have any more problems on my way home but my check engine light is on now (came on when it wouldn't shift). I'm gonna try and bring it to the shop this weekend or next but wanted to hear what people thought? thanks
5 AnswersJeep1 decade agojeep idle speed?
I was wondering if there is a somewhat simple way to reduce how fast my jeep goes without stepping on the gas. Right now it goes up to about 10 maybe 15 mph on a flat road without me touching the gas. Is there a way to reduce this to maybe like 5mph? thanks

2 AnswersMercedes-Benz1 decade agoWhich is better?
I want to list my car for sale and was planning on listing it on cars.com because that's the website I use most often, however I also use autotrader.com as well, does anyone have any opinions on which is better/ which one you've heard of more. I've already listed on craigslist but wanted a more professional site as well, should I fork over the extra money and put the car on both sites? any info would be appreciated.
3 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoInsurance cost?
I'm planning on buying a 2002 Mercedes C230 Kompressor and was wondering what I can expect to pay for insurance on the car? I'm a 19 year old male but it is under my parents insurance which allows us to put the 'main' driver as one of them and my 'main' car as another one of ours so I shouldn't be paying more b/c I'm young. Just a rough estimate would be nice thanks
